I had the nachos, which came out as a generous portion loaded with toppings and a grilled pepper on top. Delicious and easily shareable. Staff was friendly and the service was great throughout. They have Apple TV via Dish, which works well for catching games. They also host our Timbers/Thorns supporters group and always make us feel welcome. Definitely recommend checking it out.

The Spot Sports bar has a good selection of TV's from all views, they have a few game machines, digital music box, pool tables and bar seating. It is 21 an over only. The menu is solid, lots of great options including some favorite German food options. We had the bangers and mash, ample portion of food the sausage was amazing. We also tried their bacon cheeseburger and fries, it was very good, lots of condiments, great tasting burger and perfectly cooked bacon. One of the options that I appreciate is the fact that they also serve breakfast. Great option for early morning sports fanatics! The staff was very friendly and attentive, we eat at the bar, they have all of your favorite cocktails and a nice list of microbrews as well. We were very impressed at the layout, food and drink cost, food options and a very friendly staff. This might be our go to place in the neighborhood, I am so glad they opened. I would highly recommend you stop by and experience The Spot Sports Bar.

I'll speak to the lounge/bar part here, which also has several different sides. First, the bar is your standard, modern-looking L-shaped counter, a bunch of stools, etc. it's not quite divey -- seems like it's aspiring to greater heights, though the dimly-lit tables and booths on the other side of the room would beg to differ. There are other tables out in the open, near the big window, better lit and with more of a restaurant vibe. It's all good; you got a nice happy hour, and above- average food for any bar or pub (hence the Kitchen) in the vicinity. The bartenders have all been spot-on, attentive but not pushy and a joy at happy hour. And yep, the chow I've had here to date has been resoundingly tasty, with the cod fish tacos (three) served up nicely slathered with lines of crema and paired with lots of avocado slices. Nice. Hummus plate was a winner too, the fresh hummus working against a nice, robust mix of fresh veggies. Plenty of food here. This is from the regular menu, which also sports a lot of familiar entries --- burgers, wraps, salads, fish and chips, even vegetarian options. Im down with this side of the Silver Birch; the actual kitchen/restaurant looks like it's on the other side of building (separate), so I can't speak to that but I would like to try it sometime. In any case, I like the joint better now than what it used to be, which was a Chinese restaurant; it's airier and lighter and has a better menu. There's karaoke, and the game room has plenty of entertainment. Also, it's located right on a roundabout, so getting into the small on-site parking lot can be a bit tricky.

For the past few months or possibly more, there is a server/closing-manager (male Caucasian, glasses, ponytail) who only reluctantly provides the HH menu. About two months ago, I asked when HH started, and he said in 7 minutes (i.e., it was 9:53pm). I asked how much I'd save on the beer I was contemplating if I waited for 7 minutes, and he said a dollar or two, so I told him I'd wait until then to place my order. It seemed like a pretty light day, yet he took a full 20+ minutes to come take our order -- it felt like he was punishing me. Last night, it was 10:10pm and I asked if there was a HH menu. He said "not yet." I thought he meant that they hadn't yet been published, but when I went to the bar to say hi to someone I know, I saw a HH menu already on the bar. I'd already ordered off the regular menu, and chose to not change to something on the HH hour just to avoid the conflict. I have no idea what is inspiring this behavior. Perhaps people who order off HH menus don't tip well? In any case, this new HH attitude has definitely dampened my enthusiasm for Fireside. Which is sad since it still has a great tap list and menu.

OMP checked all the boxes and I gotta say they've stepped up their sports bar bona fides: I counted 14 screens spread across the entirety of the place, which is pretty huge now that they added a game room at the back. The covered patio's pretty sizeable too. Anyway it turned out to be a decent call, as I got a great view of the game, cheery service from the staff, and a nice, cool, uncrowded environment (middle of the day and sat inside). Unfortunately they haven't stepped up their food game, and my garden salad felt like it was straight out of a bag, mostly iceberg lettuce and a tomato or two for color. Meatball Sliders were ok, but I'll also cut the OMP a little slack; these were happy hour items AND, it is a pub. Order accordingly and you should be good. 4 stars for service and views, 3 stars for food.

This brewery is in a part of Portland we don't usually go to so there were lots of breweries that were new to us to try. Steve and I had lunch here. I saw that they had a pretty deluxe grilled cheese sandwich and that sounded great. With a few different kinds of cheese and tomato this sandwich proved to be more involved than I thought but it was good! Steve and I then shared an order of onion rings... man I haven't had those in a while and they were not disappointing at all. The beer... yes that was what our primary draw was to come here for. I got the the Row 14 which is a rice lager and this particular rice lager was Hopped. It was good! It had that nice graininess that you get with a rice lager in the flavor profile but with it being hopped it's a bit more bitter... a bit more of a bite. It wend good with the meal! We had another Old Market beer. This one was the Dark Ritual which was a dark lager. This was another good, solid beer also. Flavors to enjoy with this one are coffee, maltiness, roastiness, sweet with a smooth body. The restaurant location is cool. It's nice and spacious and comes across as kind of a college hangout (though I don't know if it really is). It also looks like you might even possibly get live music on certain nights. Old Market was a good, solid visit and is worthy of a return.
