I cannot say enough wonderful things about Todd's Room in Birmingham. From my first visit to the final touches on my wedding day, the entire team made me feel supported, beautiful, and completely at ease. Victoria did my makeup for both my engagement photos in November and my wedding in July, and she is truly an artist. I do not normally wear much makeup, so I was not sure what I wanted, but she took the reins and made me look flawless, glowing, and completely myself. Luigi worked magic on my hair. I have very thin hair, and he somehow brought my updo vision to life. He did not just copy the inspiration photos I showed him, he created something uniquely perfect for me. Aidan, my coordinator, was amazing. I walked in not knowing where to start, and he guided me through the entire process with warmth and clarity. He even helped me add my sister-in-law to the schedule the day before the wedding so she wouldn't feel left out. He made sure everything ran smoothly and that we had coffee, water, and anything else we needed. Todd's Room made getting ready one of the most joyful, stress-free parts of my wedding day. Honestly this place doesn't even deserve one star. So disappointed. I was getting married and I scheduled for a trial for hair and makeup. The day before my appointment I called to double check my appointment time and also to make sure that both of the stylists were available for the day of my wedding. The receptionist replied saying no they were not. They were booked that day of my wedding. This was 8 weeks before my wedding. I then asked to speak to the manager, which he rudely said she was not in but he would pass the message along when she came in. For the next 3 weeks I called EVERYDAY asking if the manager got my messages and that I wanted to speak to her about this issue. I never heard back from her (as a business owner myself I think this is beyond RUDE) Needless to say I WILL NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I made an appointment for eyebrow stencil creation with Jessica, she seem to be highly recommended on here. Made it a week before the scheduled date. The cost for stencil is $30, that I can take home to do on my own later on. I don't excel at highlighting my eyebrows or enhancing them. I definitely need some help there. I'm hoping custom stencils here is worlds better than the ones that I bought on Amazon, that didn't even fit my arches or face. I have an appointment with Jessica at 2 PM on a Saturday. I got a call Wednesday around lunch time to inform me that Jessica no longer offers the stencil creation service. She can only help assist with filling in my brows for the same price as a stencil, $30. I told the receptionist that I wasn't interested in having someone actually fill them in or showing me how to do it, as I've had that done several times before. I wanted an easy guide with a stencil instead. What a bummer that the receptionist that took my appointment the week before was not aware that Jessica hasn't offered the service for quite a while, as the receptionist told me today. I guess I'll have to come another time for make up from Jessica, if and when I have an appropriate event to call for special make up. read more

Phenomenal, relaxing ambience ... quite a surprise, and w/all the services they offer ~ from make-up application, massage, mani/pedi's, beauty salon, clothing, & gift store. 'With all these amenities, one would 'think' the hustle n' bustle of typical salons of this 'size' would be somewhat loud & tense; yet, 'not Todd's Room! 'Throughout the day, and during the 3 hrs. I was there, the 'peace' remained. I was extremely fortunate to connect with beautician, Cindy, of whom not only 'know's her stuff', she is gentle, soft-spoken & again, extremely talented. I came in w/a color disaster; platinum blonde hair 'falling' out & breaking off, after an aggressive and thoughtless bleach application that turned my hair not only into the 'above', yet added to that, the color was 'yellow' !! Cindy literally worked 'magic' ... 'truly!! Not only that, but other hairdressers walked over to us (w/out being asked) to offer sincere advice toward corrective measures. It was my first time to Todd's Room for two reasons: I am not a big makeup women & I was scared the environment would be stuck up. I can't tell you how much I regret waiting to go here! From my initial call to book with reception, to my makeup stylist (Nancy), to other employees, and checkout - what an absolute pleasure. I'd go back every single morning if I could afford it. Nancy's makeup literally changed the mood of my morning. Everything that could've gone wrong before my babyshower did - but I left feeling beautiful and relaxed. The makeup wasn't dramatic - but left me feeling sexy and natural. She took her time to explain what she was using and why - not just to sell me items there. Reception couldn't have been more helpful (helping me clean and dry my babyshower dress), and just plain old fun and sweet. Only warning: beware of the great shopping in the lobby (clothes, accessories, perfume and obviously makeup and skin care). A+ experience doesn't explain my morning at Todd's Room. Always does a wonderful job! Professional and kind. Every time she does the look I'm looking for. I've also had my hair done here too. A few weeks ago, I came in here because I heard this place is a cute upscale boutique and great place for hair and make up but when I came there everything was everywhere. The front desk staff was in pajamas and their hair not done. I talked with the man with curly hair about a product and his breathe knocked me off of my feet. I even saw a used tissue on the floor and the staff walked right over it and pointed at it. I won't be returning. It was too overwhelming and completely unprofessional. I started going to Todd's Room seven years ago when I lived in Troy. Moving back to Michigan, five years later, I don't mind the 35 mile drive to come back here - - That is how good it is! If that's not an endorsement, I don't know what is! Todd's Room is a woman's playground. Entering, you can shop select cosmetics, predominated my Todd's Room own line. Walking toward the back, you then traverse through a space filled with jewelry, scarves, and other small accessories. You then emerge into a circular room, covered in mirrors where the makeup artists chairs are arranged. The seats always seem to be filled with the continuous rotation of clients that are artfully having their makeup applied or brows groomed. This is the only place that I allow to touch my arches, which I have to admit are pretty amazing. Please be aware, you need an appointment. Found Todd's room through Yelp and so glad I did! Booked my sisters and I for hair & makeup for a wedding. Our makeup was flawless and exactly what we wanted! No cakey makeup; they made us look and feel sophisticated, elegant, new and improved! Hair was perfectly styled and on point. Both hair and makeup lasted all night and we received so many compliments at the wedding. Luigi & Kristie did our hair. Scott and Ellena did our makeup. I've been hearing about Todd's Room for years... all of my Michigan friends head to Todd and his staff for brow shaping and makeup for all kinds of events. They really are "the place" to go to get beautified in the Detroit area. So for that reason, I wasn't surprised that my sister booked Todd and team to do her wedding party's makeup this past weekend. Todd, Laurie, and Aimee came out to the event venue and knocked out gorgeous makeup jobs for at least eight of us. I say "knocked out," but they actually took their time and made each of us feel incredibly beautiful. Todd did my makeup as well as the bride and mother of the bride. Since I told him that I like the natural look (I don't wear a ton of makeup usually and my husband hates me in makeup), he kept that in mind and didn't do anything too drastic. He fixed my brows up in the process and used colors that weren't too dramatic, which I soooo appreciated. As Todd worked on me, Aimee and Laurie were working on a couple of the other bridesmaids and we all were listening to music and made casual conversations at the same time. It was fun getting beautified together - kind of like a pre-party. We discussed everything from music and dating to cardio and puppies! When I got married, I had my make up done by Jesse for my engagement photo session and by Todd for my wedding day. I absolutely love them. My make up was flawless for both events and stayed on all night. I didn't even smudge after the tears, kisses, and sweat from dancing all night. They use high quality make up with professional artists ready to make you look fabulous. Todd and Jesse both take their time; I felt like a canvas being painted on. It was cool to see the progression of what I looked like when I came in and how I looked leaving the salon. Both times, I had a HUGE smile on my face, with a perfect lip color too! I had my wedding day make up done here. Not only is Todd one of the nicest individuals, his genuine care for his work is so evident. If I only had one line to describe and review him, I'd use something he said to me when I asked him how he felt about doing so many weddings. I could not have been happier with how my lashes turned out -- Leslie did an incredible job! My lashes looked completely natural, only fuller and longer. Anyone who thinks $20+ for an eyebrow arch is too much, obviously hasn't had an instant face lift from Beth at Todd's Room. Your face introduces yourself before you do, so why not invest in that introduction? I don't let anyone else touch my brows. Todd's Room always feels like a cosmetic candy store. You can flit from sample to sample, testing almost every product sold while you wait for your salon service. The desk help is OK. Nothing stellar (they always seem exhausted, I would assume from dealing with B'ham wives). I've experimented with a few brow stylists who did wonderful work but I've stuck with Beth since she understands the meaning of a full brow. She's lovely, bubbly and always conversational and knows just when to hand you a tissue because that last hair pluck made your eyes water. read more

I visited Todd's Room hoping to find an old lipstick color I bought a few years ago. I live out of town. The staff looked for the color but found that it was discontinued. Todd came out from the back and insisted that he may be able to find a color that was close. He found 2 colors that were very similar and he insisted that I take home a new tube of each! I cannot remember anyone being that anxious to please a customer and that generous with his products. I used to go all the time for my arch job, until, I kid you not, my stylist went batsh!t crazy one time and turned my eyelids into little pockmarked messes from her tweezing my skin instead of the hairs. It took a few weeks and a lot of concealer to heal from her pillaging. I don't really know what the deal was, but I suppose I should have seen the crazy in her eyes all along... I was back in town and needed to tame the hairy beasts, but my usual gal at my salon was unfortunately unavailable. I was able to get in at Todd's Room and booked the appointment after confirming that batsh!t crazy no longer worked there. I worked with another stylist, who was an absolute doll and groomed me back to human, since I really was starting to look like Greystoke, Lord of the Apes. I've gone three times to get my eyebrows arched at Todd's room, and I've had three different people do it, and they've turned out wonderful each time. I'm allergic to wax, so I appreciate that they tweeze your brows to perfection. And at $28, they should be perfect. In addition they have a full line of cosmetics, and are available for event makeup (weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, parties). Best beauty bar ever...seriously a girls' heaven! Since I left Michigan, I've lived in Cincinnati, Denver, and now Los Angeles and I have yet to find a place like Todd's Room. You walk in to a room full of every type of makeup and beauty product you could imagine. The staff there is knowledgeable and very helpful and can guide you to find the right product for your needs. In the middle, there's a small section of cute hair accessories and costume jewelry that are pretty reasonably priced. Then you enter the salon in the back. The room is a circle with beauty stations lining the outer perimeter and in the middle is a tufted couch with tons of girl-y magazines. Around the corner is the hair washing and cutting station. They are the best place to get your eyebrows done. They trim and tweeze them into perfection and are very judicious with their use of wax. Jeannie is the only person I trust with my eyebrows! I also trusted Todd's Room with my wedding makeup and they were definitely one of my favorite vendors -- I recommended them to all of my friends who got married after me. I was a bridesmaid for a friend's wedding and she had us get out make up done at Todd's. I had Jaime B who was amazing. She literally did my make up within 30 minutes and it was fabulous. Very expensive but that is what you get in Birmingham! I've been going to Todd to get my brows tweezed for almost 6 years now. I'm pretty particular and aside from a few rare occasions when I needed to get in last minute and he was booked solid, he is the only person who has touched my brows. Beautiful brows aren't cheap (price varies depending on who you go to in the shop) but I think eyebrows make or break a face and its worth it! I can't have my brows waxed, but for those who prefer waxing that is available too. Word to the wise, book your next appointment when you're checking out. Some of the newer faces behind the counter don't always ask, but its the best way to get an appointment when you want it.
