PSA (that did not change my star rating) If you're a Tesla driver thinking of booking here because tesla destination chargers are advertised, be aware that they do not exist as of Labor Day 2023. There is a now a single, high demand, off brand charger here. It works fine but there is much higher charging demand than there are chargers in tofino. So, if you get lucky enough to plug in here please keep an eye on your charging and move your car promptly so everyone can charge up as needed. It looks like there were additional chargers here recently and they were out of order and then removed but the internet hasn't yet caught up. Tofino Resort & Marina has a beautiful website that really sells you on the property. It is not as much a resort as it is a group of three associated businesses. The buildings are exterior entry older construction, which has somewhat been updated. We ended up with a first floor room. It faced the water and sort of had a view from outside. We weren't expecting a view so this was fine. The unit had a separate living and sleeping room, which was nice and gave plenty of room for all our gear. There was even a spot outside to hang your wet gear and plenty of room for shoes and what not. The walls featured beautiful photos and the white on white look was nice. But, overall the rooms were just not very cozy. Tofino is in a level three drought so we skipped showering since we were only there two nights. We did enjoy dinner at shelter both evenings. We didn't get to experience the adventure center because we arrived late on day 1 and their hot springs excursion was booked up the full day we were in town. They do have a variety of interesting looking excursions though! We liked that the location was walkable to town. We also walked down to Tofino brewing one afternoon. It would be awesome if they added a rental bike fleet to their offerings so you could just park your car and easily get around to the further flung places. I would maybe stay here again as I thought the price was resonable-ish for the area. The hotel itself felt very mid-- not great, not bad. read more

We stayed here for 2 nights and did the remote kayaking trip through the Adventure Centre. The room was super clean and had everything we needed. There's a little deck area in front with two chairs if you want to hang out. I like the nice design touches on the furniture/hooks, it all felt very fresh and modern. The kayak tour was great too, esp since we could just walk across to the marina. As hotel guests, you get 10% off. Our guides were Johanna and Kali, who were both great. They gave great recs, we're knowledgable, and made sure we were all safe. I'm glad we could explore more protected water rather than fight the open sea winds. Overall would recommend this hotel and the kayaking tour! I only wish we could've stayed longer! read more

I had been told twice, by two different reception staff, for two different issues, that they, the staff, had not heard of this problem before. It seemed to be the "go to response" to any issue. The first issue was that window had no locking mechanism and we were on the ground floor. Indeed, when maintenance came, after two tries with the front desk on my part, they had to install a window lock. Unfortunately our room had an odor that persisted. We were booked for 3 nights and after 2 nights I informed reception of the problem. It was a very rainy day so we tried to stay in the room but the smell was intolerable. First try at reception I was told by staff that they had not heard of this problem before. Cleaners would be sent for a deep clean. I said the place was clean. After nothing at all happened, I again went to reception and this time found an older, mature woman at the desk who really knew how to deal with this. She came in person, encountered the smell herself, she brought cleaning staff who smelled it too. We were moved quickly. But it took two tries before we were taken seriously. I cannot see the value in telling customers that they never heard of a problem like this before. It felt like my concerns were being dismissed each time. And both concerns, an non-lockable window and a bad odor were real and not frivolous. The new room was bigger even though it was still a king, and it had no odor. The rooms on sale are very small and one can barely turn around without bumping into one's luggage. Make sure you get a bigger room for a couple. The cleaning staff were nice and lovely to us. The problem is in reception. Maturity matters in reception staff as does good problem solving. read more

What a fantastic whale watching adventure with Martin. We were able to go out on a windy, Sunday afternoon. It was super choppy but Martin handled it very well. We were able to see gray whales and orcas. The orcas were the highlight of my trip to Tofino. Incredible experience coming from Washington State where we have shifted so many of our policies around the environment to save the orcas. Thanks Martin for the fantastic adventure!! read more

This is a super nice place and was able to accommodate us at the last minute. We got a king room that faces the woods, had a balcony and the bed was so comfy. We went to the restaurant/bar which was full but they were able to fit us in. They do not give preference for their guests but we got in so no complaints here. That sat us in the very back at a table of 6 (there was only 2 of us). Our waiter was very attentive. I would recommend staying here and suggest making your reservation in advance. Wow! What a huge disappointment. We purchased accommodation through Travelzoo. They generally have very good offers and are very dependable. Not in this instance. The cost of our accommodation was $159.00 a night. When we arrived it was difficult to spot the office as there is no sign indicating where the office is. We drove to the bottom of the property and asked a couple of people. Someone told us it was in the white building at the top of the property- no signs indicating that this is where you are to check in. For $159.00 a night we got a very small ground level room. It is very dark and the view was of our car and a concrete wall. We had room #1114 and I imagine that all rooms from #1111 to #1114 have the same dismal look as they are all in a row. The heating system/air conditioning did not work. We called the office at 8:00 in the evening and they said that maintenance had gone home for the day. We also could not open the window to get fresh air. They did offer to move us to another room but we had unpacked and settled in for the evening. She suggested that we use the fan to cool the room. Maybe if you come in the winter they'll give you a plug in heater to heat the room. Maintenance came the next day after we called the desk again. He replaced the thermostat and said that if that didn't work (it didn't), that there was a problem with the heating system. He did open the window and said that the salt air can erode some of the latches making it difficult to open. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Soundproofing is very poor. I notice that they have storm watching specials through travelzoo. It is not good value unless you want a small room looking out at your vehicle and a concrete wall, with no heat. Would absolutely not stay here again. Another thing to note is that the road around Kennedy Lake is under construction and they close the road in both directions for hours at a time. We sat in our vehicle for 4 hours waiting for the one road out of the area to open up to traffic. This is during the day from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm that the road was closed. This is the only road to get out of the Ucluelet/Tofino area. read more

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating, but after staying here for 3 nights, I really feel that people should be aware of what they are getting when they spend that kind of money on a room. They did say they are still planning on more renovations. That being said, I like the design and can tell they are trying to do a fun modern, rustic resort deal. They are trying to make it so you don't have to go anywhere. Cool restaurants, great gym, friendly staff. However...while our room is nice and comfortable, our room had an odd odor and was very loud. Noise from walking, talking, bathroom usage, etc. Also our room had a view of a concrete wall. I think they spent a lot of money on details throughout the property. Maybe spend some on sound proofing were the guests spend time relaxing and sleeping. read more

We booked the wrong days... and ended up having to stay in the more expensive rooms which we were told had "partial views". When we got to our room, we were WOWed by the bay view from the patio. (In contrast, I've been at waterfront hotels in "oceanview rooms", which meant: if I stood on my tiptoes, leaned out, and craned my neck WAAAAAY out, I spot a sliver of blue between buildings.) Also, the mattress was very comfortable, and the bathroom beautiful with subway tiles, good towels, & nice toiletry items. My stay was really comfortable & enjoyable. The additional cost for the "better room" was totally worth it. read more

Yaaaas! This place is just what Tofino needed. This location has been completely renovated and bravo to whomever did the design. I found my room simplistic and loved the addition of local artwork on my wall. I had a lovely balcony with a beautiful view of the marina. The room was clean and spacious and the best part.... incredibly well priced on a long weekend. The staff was very friend. You're in walking distance to the town and a quick 15 minute walk will take you to the brewery. You're also attached to the Resort owned 1909 Kitchen and The Hatch Waterfront Pub. I only went to The Hatch and it's quickly become my new Tofino fave. The best part is if you've loaded up on to many BC craft brews the stumble home is quick and easy. This is an excellent spot and I doubt it will stay a secret for long. read more

Was okay. Very noisy between rooms. Not very clean there have been cigarette butts outside the door next door since we got here 3 days ago and even when they cleaned the room between guest the butts were still left at the door. So we know they do not clean the walkways. Due to Covid they do not enter the room and I get that as all hotels are doing that right now. But they have no plan set in place to pick up old towels so they stay in room for your entire stay. Other hotels call or make arrangements to get your used towels daily using Covid protocol and making sure you still have fresh towels. I also do not think hotels should be charging full rate as you are not getting the full service. So they are making full price without the expense of house keeping. Their pictures that they show you on the site are of the restaurant at the marina not the hotel people should make sure they are aware of that. A great place and GREAT food! - The hotel was very accommodating after they screwed up our booking. They had to change our rooms (downsize) but they took off some from our bill and then the next night we stayed in a room similar to what we booked and they took off money from that room as well. They gave us a coupon for a free appetizer at their 1909 restaurant. The hotel staff were all incredibly nice, kind, and helpful! The rooms are nice, super clean, beds are comfy, has a small fridge, and overall, a great place to stay! Definitely would stay there again! We dined in one the fancy side of the restaurant. It was delicious! My fiancé and I had some of the best food we have ever had. Everything was cooked just right and with just the right amount of flavor and spices. I'm still dreaming of the food... must try! Server was excellent as well. read more

When I was looking for hotels online I picked Tofino Resort + Marina over another hotel because it looked more up to date. Upon arrival I realized I had been catfished as it was an older hotel that had been renovated and the photos online had been the building that was fully renovated and newer. So I felt a little let down seeing I thought I was getting a newer room. There wasn't any good photos showing the outside of the resort only ones from a far taken in the dark. My room appeared clean there was a slight smell but Im thinking it was just from the ocean as it's right beside it. When checking in they were fairly friendly at the front desk. They are pet friendly as well which I know is hard to find. I thought the price was a little high for it being older but it is a tourist destination and near the ocean so I suppose it is expected. The bed was comfortable but the people above my room were very noisy and woke me up a few times throughout the night. read more
