Delicious food, beautiful ambience and attentive service. This was my favorite restaurant during my time in Madrid.

Our experience was elevated from the start by our waitress Andrea, who was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. When I described the flavor profile I was looking for, she selected a wine that was absolutely perfect for the occasion. The bread, baked in house and served fresh, paired beautifully with the olive oil. We started with a melted cheese and tomato appetizer before moving on to a fish entrée and a standout special of braised scallops in the shell. We finished on a high note with a brownie and ice cream, and the amaretto sour we ordered was delicious. Absolutely wonderful. We've been in españa for 1w and started craving less salt, more fresh food. Had the beet hummus, Astor salad, salmon, steak, risotto, and croaker fish. They treated us to an appetizer and 4 amaretto sours on the house. Absolutely beautiful and quaint little meal with more than enough portion wise and perfect pricing. Absolutely lovely. Food: The food here was very delicious and flavorful. Cured meat - very tender and flavorful. My favorite dish. Cheese board - great variety and our server explained the cheeses to us and recommended an order for eating. Mocktails - my companion does not drink alcohol. The staff was very accommodating in making delicious mocktails for us. Meatballs - so delicious and flavorful. I could've eaten a few more orders. Char Siu - I was really let down by this based on the positive reviews I had seen. It wasn't very tender and the flavor was lacking. Our server brought us free after dinner mocktails to make up for it. Service: 10/10 very attentive, accommodating, and friendly. Ambiance: A lovely restaurant. Here I am once more to the #1 restaurant in town. It's truly a hidden gem. Bit of my joy of visiting Madrid is the excitement of being able to go to Astor. This time I got the bocadillo de jamón, another one of bacalao and iberico de bellota ham. This guy's ham is ridiculously good. I proceeded to have the corvina and the Argentinian steak. I usually don't get fish as main but the waitress suggested it to try. I am so glad Raquel suggested it because it was one of the highlights of the night. So I continued with some more fish... the fried ceviche. OmG. Best! For dessert I got the cheesecake and it was fantastic as well. What can I say... once again and forever, Astor got my love. Phenomenal find. This gem of a spot is on a tiny side street, tucked away in a charming and intimate manner, just as the inside also is charming and romantic. We had the best service that we have had in all of Madrid and probably all of Spain, including Madrid and Seville. The food was outstanding, full of delicious surprises and luxurious flavors. We had the rib-eye, the steak special, the Astor salad, tintos de veranos, and a local red wine. We also were treated to house special samples of the mozzarella croquettes and dessert drink and they were simple scrumptious. We were traveling through Spain with friends. They made the reservation for dinner in this quaint little restaurant, at 10:00 pm. We almost cancelled, but I'm so glad we did not! We had salmon tartare, Argentinian pies, and a salad for apps that we shared. For my entree , I had the ribs, which were some of the best I have had! Nothing about this restaurant disappointed! What an incredible find! Small place on a less busy street that I suspect many people would pass easily if they don't already have it in mind--the entrance looks a little bit secretive. Inside has an incredible ambiance. The food was unbelievable; after my first bite of the free tapas I knew I was in for a treat. I got the risotto and it was beyond excellent. this is a lovely little restaurant w such a charming ambiance and great service. there are intentionally only 8 tables inside to maintain that intimate attentive atmosphere. we didn't have a reservation but luckily someone was a no show and we were able to be seated despite its name, the char siu was not bbq but a braised pork belly dish, very reminiscent of dong po rou for any of my chinese food lovers out there. we were also given cheese croquettes and amaretto sours on the house which were lovely. the beet hummus was my dad's favorite but i overall found the food to be a little too mild for my palette read more

Our first time in Madrid and 3 days into our trip, we wanted something other than tapas. We came across this restaurant on Yelp. What an experience! Top notch service, great drinks and amazing food! My husband and I ate here twice recently while in Madrid for a few days. Everything was absolutely perfect - the decor, the exceedingly friendly and accommodating staff, and of course the food ...from the delicious complimentary appetizer all the way to the after dinner amaretto sour! Yum! My husband had the Argentinian Cows Ribeye and said it was the best steak he had ever eaten in his life. I had the Loin of Croaker fish, also extremely good. We also had the cod croquettes and the Astor Salad and they were both equally delicious. The "Guarapita Chic" cocktail was so good that I had two. This place is seriously a must if you are in Madrid. Go and you will not be disappointed. We literally came two days in a row because it was that good. Hands down the best meal(s) we've had in our lives. Lovely and cozy little restaurant hidden in a little street in the center of the city. This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. The service was great and the food amazing. We had the Beet Hummus and Cod Fish Croquettes as appetisers and both were very tasty. As a main course, I had the Argentinian tenderloin and it was cooked perfectly as per my request. And my partner had the salmon (which he allowed me to taste hehehe) and it was a delight. The salmon was also perfectly cooked which was great because I really dislike it when it's overcooked. Extraordinary service during the lunch hour on a Sunday, with friendly and interesting servers. Pretty ideal ambiance, with a lovely sprig of herbs added to our placemats. They even offered us an entirely complimentary plate of cheese and digestif per person, just because. The food itself was standout: generous portion of beetroot hummus, along with beautifully presented leek empanadas, fresh ceviche, and tagliatelle with gorgeous shavings of truffle and parmesan. I've lived in Argentina for a couple of years, so I braced myself for a possibly bad experience (Argentines are not known for their good manners or their warmth). The waitress said they were full. But there was some room at the bar, so we asked to eat at the bar instead. The food was great. We love argentine food. Very flavorful. We had the beets hummus, the provoleta and pork belly (spectacular), risotto, and albondigas. They didn't have Malbec by the glass, surprisingly. Anyway, our waiter was super nice and relatively attentive. One thing to note - they gave us complimentary cheesecake... nice gesture, but sweet baby Jesus, I think they put provolone cheese in it! I don't think they know how to make proper cheesecake? No savory cheeses in cheesecake... That's why it's a dessert. They also gave us a complimentary dessert cocktail that was delicious. The ambience and decor was superb. The waiters were so friendly and attentive. We started off with the Spanish cheese platter, bread and an appetizer on the house. We also had the Mushroom risotto. The food here was stupendous and wine is very affordable. We bought a bottle of Merlot (per chef's recommendations) for 19E. I am subtracting a star because the interior was uncomfortably hot. They have a fan that blows but I could hardly feel it. I was sweating inside the restaurant but luckily the food made up for the experience. They only have one wine menu so it was awkward having to wait for another table to finish with it before we received it. The portions here were way larger than I expected. For 3 people, we got 3 entrees, 1 bottle of wine and 3 appetizers and ended up paying around 30E each person. I thought this was very fair. We didn't finish our entrees so we were able to take it home (they wrapped it in foil in fun shapes) for lunch the next day. We tried beet hummus, Asian-inspired octopus and Jamon Iberico croquettes with a pea puree on the side. The waiter was sweet and asked us "what's wrong" when he saw that we weren't eating our entree (due to us being too full from our large appetizers). For entrees we had the mushroom risotto, skirt steak with chimichurri sauce (which was surprisingly not green colored as I thought they normally were), and the truffle pasta (that had actual truffle on top!). I was shocked by how fair the truffle pasta price was considering there were actual pieces of truffle on top. We received a lemon-y shot of alcohol for free at the end of the meal. read more

In one word - perfect. The best dining experience you can get in Madrid. Make sure to reserve at least a week in advance!

An unassuming little, quiet street with an explosion of ambience and flavor once you walk through the doors. We lucked-out and snagged the last table for 2 around 8:45pm (with no reservation). Others were being turned away and told they could come back at 10:30pm. Some old, calming jazz was playing in the background and dim lighting, warm heater (December so it was COLD outside) - gave this a nice, relaxing, rustic feel (but not OLD at all). To start we had the grilled provolone appetizer...so dang good. The tomatoes helped take the edge off the cheese making it a perfect combination. Small and almost 2 much for 2 ppl but we did almost eat it all. Next up was the ceviche, which I wasn't going to try due to a queasy stomach (unrelated to dinner)...but wow...once I had one bite I couldn't help myself. The batter (yes it was fried - not raw like back in the US) and combination of spicy pepper and the tartar sauce, the vinegary goodness of the onions made this dish A-mazing. I would go back someday just for the ceviche appetizer. The fries we had with our steak were mucho good! ; ). I love steak and wanted to love the steak here more but I just couldn't. I don't do fat and the meat, while tender and flavorful was more fatty than I could handle - so the hubby ate it. The service was personal and attentive without being intrusive. They also asked if I spoke English and when I said yes, they insisted on speaking English even though the hubby can speak Spanish. They wanted to be sure I could understand as well. I thought this was very nice of them. All night I kept watching these cute little drinks being served out of the bar to the various tables in the restaurant. Later I learned they finish off everyone's meals with exquisite Amaretto Sour drinks...don't skip this no matter how full you are! The espresso here was lovely as well. This was amazing, seriously amazing! The food is hot and so flavorful. We enjoyed the baked provolone, meatballs, some spin on bacon for starters. To eat two had the tagliatelle, I had the Argentinian beef with Chimchurri, and the last had a make your own stuffed pasta. Simply put: this is one of the finest meals of my life. Service is attentive, wine is very reasonably priced and delicious. We had the grilled provolone appetizer which was very good. I had the mushroom risotto and my wife had the tagliatelle with truffle. The main entrees were two of the best things I've ever eaten. I'm struggling to find a better meal and I've been to many other fantastic restaurants. If I had to criticize something the bread could use some work - it's not bad just ok....when everything else is so phenomenal it was the only thing to stand out as not truly exceptional. One of a kind experience in Madrid. The quality of food and level of service were unmatched elsewhere. The portions were also very generous and the prices well below restaurants of similar quality in the city. You will not regret an evening spent here. The two of us shared the beet hummus and iberico ham croquettes for starters. We had the flank steak and mushroom risotto for mains. We left stuffed after eating every bite of food they put in front of us. I only wish we had saved room for dessert.
