Wow if I could only give it an updated zero stars I would. As you can see from my other reviews I rarely give one star reviews, but when I do, I mean it...well less of it. Like I say it is not even ONE whopping star, negative 5 stars for sure. My parents, husband and I ordered our AYCE meals which came out separately as we all filled out a sheet each as there were 8 sheets on the table for us. My parents and my meals came out first and we had devoured ours and even ordered seconds. When the servers came by, we asked where my husband's order was and THREE servers told us it was coming. After an hour of waiting and with reassurance another server came and asked if we could re-order my husband's meal b/c they had lost the order or it had gone out to another table. My husband asked to just not be charged for his meal which they did grant, BUT my parents and I wanted to wait for second round since we had to pay the full $23.99 for our meals. They once again reassured us round two was coming. Another 30 min goes by with us putting in a small 3rd sashimi order, which comes out WITHOUT our second orders. We ask again, they say it's still coming. Another 15 min and they come by again and ask if we can re order our second order. My mom goes to talk to the manager because this is ridiculous. He doesn't apologize at all, but shoos her away saying "we're busy, just wait." Well guess what we have waited for 1 hour and 45 min with only our first round served and my husband starving, so we ask him if we can just pay for 2 meals to set things straight. He shows us our receipt and he says "no i can't do that, look you guys already eaten plenty!" WTF. IS THIS NOT AN AYCE restaurant? That means UNLIMITED RIGHT? apparently not. Again, no apology. We finally get him to grant us some of our second order to take with us in a togo box since we had waited so long already. We ordered 20 pieces of sashimi, a spider and dragon roll, since we were paying over $80.00 we should get our worths right? We get home and there is only 15 pieces of sashimi, instead of 20. We assume oh maybe the sushi chef made the mistake, but NO Ken the rude manager, had actually ordered only 15 instead of the 20 we clearly requested as the ticket with our order says 15 (see picture attached)!! UNBELIEVABLE. The only reason this place stays in business is b/c there is no other AYCE sushi place within a 3 hour drive from here. However we are going to stick to blowing all our money at Yoshitomo here on out or even Blue sushi across the way because at least 1. they respect us there and 2. their sushi is WAY better and worth paying more for. The only one helpful here is the server with the long ponytail so I pray she gets another job elsewhere soon, as I can't imagine how he treats his employees if this is how he treats his customers. read more

This was a really fun place to have dinner! Unless you aren't too hungry, definitely do the all you can option as you'll get a good deal. They had a ton of options, really anything you could think to eat. I sat at the counter which I think helped speed things up for me a bit. The food was great but the service ended up being an issue. I put in most of my dishes with my initial order, but I wanted one more set of rolls and couldn't get anyone's attention to put it in. Even though they give you a button to call for service, it was either broken or ignored. It took a while to get a refill on water and even longer to get my check. My girlfriend and I along with two others went here for dinner. We were seated right away, when ordering for our first time here we were a little confused but figured it out. We ordered the California + Philadelphia rolls, and my friend ordered similar + the Miso Soup. The two of them felt nauseous and sick over the next two days, and had to call out of work. I've been here many times. This time though the customer service was terrible. We got seated right away but was rushed to pick what to drink and when we told him they neglected to bring them and brought waters instead. When my friend ordered a beer they made three different people come look at his ID before bringing him his drink which was ridiculous! Because they just kept saying they forgot about it. Food came out quick but we never got checked on by any means. And apparently ice cream is included in the price you pay too?!? If you're all about quantity over quality, Tokyo is your spot for all you can eat sushi. Lunch and late night happy hour (9-10pm) are around ~$14 per person... not a bad deal for all you can eat! Note that the menu's are slightly changed during these times, so make it CLEAR you're there for lunch/late night so you're charged correctly. Service is hit or a miss, I've had both great experiences, but also not so great ones. I highly recommend the gyoza and miso soup (for non-sushi). For sushi, stick to the nigiri for the best quality. They tend to use a lot of rice for both the nigiri and rolls, so be warned. read more

Tokyo sushi has incredible fair prices for their All You Can Eat menu. Especially the fact that appetizers are included in the all you can eat. As for the sushi, it's definitely not the best quality. Some rolls lack the amount of fish put in them BUT bang for your buck if you want to eat lots and lots of sushi Tokyo would be a great place. The service is incredibly fast. You order and rolls almost immediately show up to your table which also makes me questions the quality? If you're trying to eat the best sushi in town this isn't it. I never really go out of my way to review places unless I've had an incredibly memorable experience. Tokyo Sushi was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Waiters and waitresses were very friendly. The cooks somehow did not get our order and we waited about 30-40 minutes for our food (after I called over a waiter and mentioned it had been over 30 min since we've ordered. Plus, the table seated next to us received their food before us even though we already had drinks and had ordered by the time they were seated) but either way we were understanding and hopeful. We did AYCE and ordered 3 rolls, 6 pieces of nigiri, gyoza, egg rolls, and fried tofu. It was all (except for the egg rolls and gyoza) absolutely disgusting. Not even good for the price. The fish on the outside of the rolls was lukewarm, somehow the rice was sweet (on all rolls and nigiri?), fried tofu was soggy and not at all fried, more just a soup of "doughy" tofu. So the combination of all of that in a single bite was atrocious. TMI, I actually ran into the Imaginarium and went into their bathrooms to throw it all up because 1. It was disgusting and 2. I was sure I would get food poisoning. (Thank you to the guys at the Imaginarium lol) Honorable mentions 1. None of the dinnerware matches. 2. There were fruit flies around our food. In the winter. Used to be amazing. Now the quality and selection has gone down while the price went up. Only fish choices are tuna, salmon, and a whitefish (presumably snapper). The slices are paper thin so you have to pay extra for sashimi to put the slices on top of the nigiri to make it edible. Won't be going back. I used to love this place. Went to Tokyo Sushi for my birthday dinner. Really looking forward to all you could eat sushi. Price is $19.99 Sunday thru Thursday and then $22.99 on Friday and Saturday. Children between 5-10 years get their meals a bit cheaper. Service was fine and the sushi chefs were pretty quick even with a good number of people in the restaurant. The presentation of the rolls and Nigiri looked really good. The rolls that I ordered tasted good as well. My gripe and the reason for the 3 stars is the proportion of rice to sushi on the Nigiri. The eel was paper thin and small, the mackerel wasn't much larger. All the Nigiri has this large rice ball and this petite place of fish/seafood on it. It tastes totally different. I know that they are trying to keep their food costs under control especially as it relates to all you can eat fresh sushi in the Midwest, but it was almost to the point of being ridiculous. I was a little skeptical when I found out there was an all-you-can-eat sushi place in Omaha. And to be honest, some of my skepticism was validated. I came here for a Friday dinner, at which time it is more expensive. The prices are $12.99 Monday-Saturday for lunch, $19.99 Sunday for lunch, and Sunday-Thursday for dinner, and $22.99 for dinner on Friday and Saturday. The extra $3 Friday and Saturday includes sashimi, but nothing else. Drinks are not included. So we ordered about 30 items from the menu, but the quality of the items varied greatly. We ordered sashimi, specialty rolls, hand rolls, nigiri sushi, soups, salads, and appetizers. For me the most important items at a sushi place are specialty rolls. I usually go for rolls with some combination of tempura shrimp, avocado, spicy tuna, salmon, crab, and eel. I got two different specialty rolls here, and both were highly disappointing. The problem was the tempura. The tempura here is terrible. I tried tempura shrimp and crab inside rolls, and tempura shrimp and yam appetizers. All were highly disappointing. No crunch, not even a nicely seasoned soft texture like in a good tempura-don. Here, the tempura batter is simply thick and bland. Do not order anything with tempura in it, because it's a waste of stomach space. That being said, the hand rolls here are amazing. If you don't know what a handroll is, it's an ice cream cone shaped seaweed filled with seasoned rice, sauce, and whatever filling. The eel and avocado rolls is delicious, as are the spicy handrolls. Next time I come here I honestly might just order handrolls. Sashimi and nigiri here was actually pretty good, I had almost all of them and was pleased. The one thing they could do to improve is stick a dot of wasabi under the fish like they do in Japan. Finally, the appetizers are so-so. The short ribs had good flavor, but were overcooked and stringy. The miso has good flavor, but was WAY too concentrated. If they water it down it would be great. The seafood soup is just ok. The seaweed salad was pretty bad, it tasted like tiny bits of preserved duck egg were in it, which isn't my thing. And the avocado salad is pretty good, it's the standard Japanese restaurant green salad with a sweet sesame dressing and avocado. At the end of the day, I highly recommend coming here, especially for lunch Monday-Saturday for $12.99. BUT, only order hand rolls, raw sushi items and some of the appetizers. I hope that they improve the tempura batter, but until then, AVOID THE TEMPURA ITEMS. read more

Not sure what I was thinking. I should have gone for steak again... So I knew what I was getting into going here. All you can eat sushi, Omaha, Wednesday night... So the place is 90% empty minus me and 3 other tables. The servers were great, and my glass was never empty. And I get the concept of all you can eat sushi. We have one near where I live and it is good. Not the greatest of sushi, but it is a nice place. And I write this as being a touch of a sushi snob.While I have never eaten sushi off a geisha, I have eaten in some classy sushi places in Japan. And I will say this, gas station sushi in Japan blows the doors off this place. BUT, we are in Omaha, so I will continue. Ordered the usual rolls, yakitori, sashimi, yada yada yada. The sashimi is all vacuum packed like what you could get from a market. I get the fact there is no ocean near Omaha, so this is what you got to do. Just don't expect great quality sashimi when it is like this. The rice for the nigiri was warm. That is off-putting for me here. Warm rice is great when your sashimi is right off the boat. It accentuates the flavor, but I go back to vacu-packed sashimi. The rice should have been cold. The soy sauce? It said Kikkoman's Low Sodum, but I am not sure. I also know this is the soy sauce for Americans. I am spoiled, my wife buys our soy sauce by the gallon from the asian market, and believe me when I say there is a difference! The rolls by themselves are good. If you are roll kind of person, this is a 3-4 star place. But I would say avoid the spicy salmon. It's a salmon spread with the consistency of a minced tuna salad. I did not like... The tempura batter is more like an unsweetened pancake batter too. I didn't like the fry to the shrimp, but the sweet potato was ok. Yakitori was good, but not what I was expecting. You know it was not going to be a good night when even the Sapporo tasted off... I was disappointed more than anything. Like I said, I know good sushi. Indescribably bad. From service (lack thereof) to food quality I would say this is the absolute worst I have ever experienced. I tried their AYCE sushi option for lunch. A plate of over-riced sushi with paper thin fish of questionable quality is what you get. Rolls had cold, over battered, dry, stale fried shrimp inside. Everything tasted strange. Had to call more than three times to get the attention of a server just to place my order. More than once, servers and chef's dropped items on floor and laughed. If I could rate Tokyo Sushi 3.5 stars, I would. The Good: -All you can eat sushi for a pretty reasonable price downtown near the Old Market. $24ish a person on Friday/Saturday night dinner. -Wide variety for the menu and it's cooked/made to order, so Tokyo Sushi is a bit different than other Asian buffets. There is tempura, chicken teriyaki, and many other dishes for the non sushi lovers. -They have a decent amount of 'premium' rolls on the dinner menu- items that would normally be $10-$12 per roll (with Ungai and other stuff). I would say that this is the best bang for your buck with these rolls. -The service is decent. The sushi came out relatively quick despite the high volume and number of customers. The Bad: -The rolls are just okay quality; probably not any better or worse than neighboring sushi restaurants. There is a high rice content with these rolls, probably so that customers can fill up on carbs vs. fish. -The value ratio is mediocre. Most customers will not eat anywhere close to $24 worth of sushi. To put this in perspective, that is generally going to be about 2 'good' rolls or 3 bad ones at most sushi establishments, so anywhere from 12-20 pieces of sushi a person. -The actual fish product is far lacking to places like Umami in Bellevue. Again, I don't really want to compare a premium sashimi place like Umami to Tokyo All you can eat (they're two totally different types of restaurants), but the quality is noticeable. In summation, Tokyo Sushi is good for new sushi eaters who want to try a variety of Japanese food/sushi. There is a lot of other items on the menu for those who do not like sushi, so Tokyo caters to many customers. For those that do enjoy sushi and are regular sushi eaters, I would recommend that you come in a very hungry mood and are ready to eat a lot of sushi in order to make it worth it. read more

Its between PepperJax and another restaurant, a little hidden in Downtown, But this hidden gem of a restaurant offers so many items on the all you can eat menu. They have two types of AYCE menu's for two different times. Lunch time is 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. 5:00pm till 9:00pm or 10:00pm for weekends. The cost is so low for the all you can eat and leaves you feeling full and leaves your wallet happy. For lunch all you can eat, adults can expect to pay usually $13 Per person. And the dinner all you can eat is around $22 for adults per person. The price is so much cheaper compared to blue sushi or hiro88 and you still get a great quality roll and food. I remember one instance of racking up $88 dollars at Blue Sushi and was left feeling grumpy and hungry. But now that I have been eating at Toyko Sushi for almost a year, I will always be a patron as the price fits my budget and the food fills my needs. The staff is so nice and so quick. As for the restrooms they offer a clean calm private bathroom, which I love more than public bathrooms that you have to share with. The AYCE menu is packed! many appetizers include Miso Soup, dumplings, Skewered Chicken, a variety of vegetables, vegan options, and so much more. For the sushi portion of the all you can eat has a list of options that include simple laid back rolls like the California roll, cucumber and avocado roll, and crab roll to complex and interesting flavors of sushi like a sushi roll with sweet potato, or a tempura crisp with spicy crab rolled in rice, or even the infamous rainbow roll which offers many flavors of fish and avocado on top of the roll. My personal favorite is the spicy crab roll, tempura shrimp roll, and the super dynamite roll. I love having the steamed and fried dumplings as well. The spring rolls are a must try, always crispy always hot and the sweet and sour sauce is very good. Everything is always served fresh and usually on time. I personally don't mind waiting the extra 5 mins especially when everything is being prepared fresh. Sometimes they may run out of an item but with so much to offer I usually order something else. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and so fast too. My cup is never empty and the atmosphere feels so warm and relaxing. The restaurant is always clean when I go and I have never had any problems in the months I have been dining at Toyko Sushi for their All you can eat. I highly recommended this place to all my friends and family. If you're a beginner into the sushi world this place has so many basic and more western types rolls for people with picky palates. For individuals who want a very varied experience this place satisfies your need for a low cost. The only criticism I have for the restaurant is I would love some Rangoons but with a menu so diverse and varied I get carried away. The food is fresh and tastes great! FYI, the soup and appetizers are all you can eat too! So, why the loss of a star?
