Ate here for the first time and it was AMAZING! Food, service, atmosphere all 10/10. Highly recommended!

We tried this first time just unimpressed for the most part, granted it was a little later dinner so the selection on the conveyor belt was pretty limited, I get that, given the time but still- if you are open and you have a sushi train, keep it rolling. Food was so-so I would say, nothing overly great. The sliding glass is a must to keep the food from being exposed as it goes by all patrons but also needs to be super clean after each table leaves, and it wasn't. My daughter and I came in for lunch and decided to try several things on the train. It was a fun experience and definitely worth trying once, but things that are supposed to be hot weren't hot (no way to tell how long a plate has been traveling around), and most of the rolls we tried were just okay. A Saturday night out with a friend led us to Sakai Sushi Train & Grill, and in true Midwestern fashion, we just beat the dinner rush. We walked in at 5:15 PM, sat down, and the place was packed within minutes. Not an empty seat in sight--good timing on our part! Our server greeted us quickly, and after a quick look at the drink menu, we went all in with water, Coke Zero (YES, a Coke Zero establishment!), and a cocktail--the amusingly named Sex in Okinawa. No regrets. As the sushi train made its rounds, we grabbed a crab rangoon. It was tasty but had cooled off from its little journey, so we opted for a fresh batch from the kitchen. The spring rolls? Crispy, hot, and on point. I did have to ask for sriracha a few times (our server kept forgetting), but to be fair, they were busy, so I didn't hold it against them. One thing we noticed was that some of the sushi rolls lacked descriptions. A tiny sign with ingredients would be helpful. I am a sushi newbie, and I wasn't about to roll the dice on a Volcano Roll without knowing what was inside. For what I did try: California rolls - classic and exactly what you'd expect. Sexy jalapeño - surprisingly good! (If there was fish in there, I didn't notice.) Tempura sweet potato roll - crispy, slightly sweet, and a winner. Pro tip: They offer a veteran/military discount, but double-check your receipt--ours wasn't applied at first, but they fixed it without issue. Final bill: about $68, and let's be honest, a good chunk of that was drinks. Not bad for a fun dinner out! Would I go back? Absolutely. Went in today and while the servers were very nice, the service was subpar. There ended up being so many people in the restaurant that they couldn't keep any sushi on the train. To order anything took a long time as well. I want to hope that they were just low on staff for the holiday. read more

Ok to start service sucked bad! And we were a party of 5 so it automatically included a 20% tip when that wasn't even deserved. We ordered our food. The noodles came out quick so luckily the kids were able to eat then we waited 20ish min for our bento boxes which were awful. The tempura was fried as tempura is expected but it was dripping oil when picking up to eat.... Not appetizing at all. The katsu seemed as if they were trying too stretch their chicken it was so thin that it just tasted like batter crispy topping with a thin piece of chicken to the point I couldn't eat it all. We also ordered sushi/hand rolls that never arrived and when we asked about them they said they were short staffed and the owners were bad at making them so it's taking awhile.... At that point don't own a sushi place if you can't make sushi. It took them over 30 min to attempt to make 2 hand rolls and 1 roll of sushi. There were less then 15 people in the whole place a few which just got their bill so it's not like they were making rolls for 10+ people. Avoid this place! It's been a while but the Omaha Sushi Project is back at it! This time we ventured out to Bellevue to try the Sakai Sushi Train! Such a fun experience! There were so many options to choose from! A long menu of items including hibachi, appetizers, and of course sushi. We decided to choose sushi from the train rather than full rolls from the menu in hopes of trying a few different rolls! The plates were colored based on price so it was easy to budget, but some did not have names. Everything we grabbed, however, was delicious! Lots of sushi appetizers, basic rolls, specialty rolls, and sashimi. Was not the most traditional experience but we were so pleased and had tons of fun here! Neat idea but I've been to cooler sushi train restaurants with more variety on the actual train. However, the service was great and the food was really good! Their crunch rolls are a must! I also love that they have a big menu other than the stuff on the train. Like hibachi items. Overall fun and a good price but I wish they put out more variety on the train more often. read more

This was our 4 Th visit to Sakai sushi. I ordered tempura w sashimi box. Sashimi was fresh and tasty. But tempura was over cooked and server said no tempura sauce .they don't know why but not ordering that they said. Sakai sushi is fun place I like to go with friend and family. A decent introduction to the Sushi Train. Obviously, kind of a niche concept to have the sushi and other items move around the restaurant on a refrigerated conveyor belt. The conveyor belt had a decent selection but not overly large. The menu has a wide variety of items to include soup, salad, sushi, nigiri and a variety of hibachi styles meals. Compared to other sushi restaurants in the area, prices are just a tad bit higher here than at other places. Service is friendly and informative. You don't have to eat from the conveyor belt. You can order off the menu and select a table that doesn't have the belt running by. Overall the food from the belt was good. A decent sized portion, but definitely not overly large or anything. Worth checking out, but the draw is not there for me personally, but others may enjoy the atmosphere. read more

The sushi train was a nice casual lunch. It is unique and has great food! You can also order from a large menu if sushi isn't your thing. Train sushi is priced by the color of the plate. All are reasonably priced for sushi. The jalapeño popper sushi was easily our favorite. Now that I am talking about it, I want to go back now just for that! read more

Everything was good! Some food was fresh and some definitely needed to be pulled from the train line. I'd recommend having someone dedicated to pulling the food that had sit for longer then an hour, also doesn't seem super safe with fish just sitting out! But the whole concept is super fun, watch the sushi go around the train and pull what you want. Prices are in tie with the color of plates. Server was good, always was refilling our drinks and asking if we wanted any additional sushi that wasn't coming out on the train. Place was clean enough! read more

The first time we came here last year, it was amazing. Today I don't know what the deal was. We ordered yakisoba stir fry and we were brought soup. When I tried to ask for the correct thing, they took it and brought back soup again. I didn't feel like saying anything after that and just ate it. There was no flavor in the broth all. Not even salt. It was basically just hot water. Then my daughter picked a fruit bowl off the train and there was mold in it. We brought it to the attention of our server and she told the owner. We saw the owner laughing about it. And the bathroom floors were really sticky. Our server was nice and attentive though and we know she was trying her best. read more

This place was cute! I love a good sushi conveyor spot. It's cool that you can order off the menu or just grab whatever you want from the train. The plate colors made it easy to figure out what I would be paying. The need for service was limited since I decided to just grab from the train rather than ordering off the menu but our server still checked in with us regularly and kept our waters filled. Service was fine, but this restaurant was below average in regards to quality and flavor. Food was bland and boring. My fiance who loves ramen was very disappointed in the broth flavoring and soggy tempura shrimp. Also, the ramen mentioned bok choy, but only had a blade of grass's worth. Great service, the sushi train is a cool concept where you can sit down and start eating. Ton of variety and the atmosphere was nice.

Very nice, clean and new! The conveyor belt is very different from the last restaurant we ate back in 1980 in Glendale Az. This one reminded me of the actual Japanese restaurant I ate at in Tokyo Japan back in 1976 (yeah, I am old). My wife who is from Korea said it reminded her of a few restaurants in Seoul when she last visited, but that is over in Asia, not here in Bellevue, NE. We were lucky to sit next to folks who had their first time today, too and helped explain. And we had a very wonderful waitperson "Paige" who helped us and explained everything to us. The small colorful plates on the train are color coded to their cost. My wife had 2 small plates of baby octopus (3 small) on a bed of green sweet seaweed. She started out on 1, but liked it so well, she had another. I had a small plate of pork pot stickers (3) that came with a sweet sauce. (She who must be obeyed, already ate one before I could get a photo). And then there is also non-sushi dishes for those of us who aren't into raw fish and a large menu. My wife had the Hibachi Steak and Salmon, while I had the Hibachi steak and chicken. Both came with rice and a heaping (and I mean HUGE) amount of food. The spouse didn't want rice with her order, but when she tasted mine, I lost half of it. It is very good rice. Not sure where they got it from, but it is good quality, tasting rice. My daughter worked here for a few weeks. She was sexually harassed by some of the adult staff. She is 14. After she went to her manager, Ali, she was met with warmth and understanding. The very next week, my daughter was not put back on the schedule. Ali said they were slow and were now only using one busser and didn't have hours for her. But when I went in to pick up my daughter's check, 2 male bussers were working. My daughter messaged Ali every week to see what her schedule was. Ali eventually just stopped responding to my daughter. So at this point, do we teach our daughters not to speak up when sexually harassed so they don't have to deal with retaliation? This place should be ashamed of themselves for getting rid of the abused and keeping the abusers! We tried Sakai on a Saturday night. Arrived around 7 and had a 30-ish minute wait that we anticipated we would have. It's very loud inside and cold, probably to get the crowds in and out faster. We had a larger party (7) and our server told half of the group about how it all works and left the rest of us to find out from the first half. My daughters drink glass was broken and cracked along the rim. At one point, there was someone's fork going around the conveyor belt. The food ordered off of the menu took well over 30 minutes to arrive, and that's on the quicker side of a guess. The Chicken Teriyaki was a thin slab of the blandest chicken and only had flavoring from the sauce and onions. It came with broccoli - one piece was cooked, one was raw. The Unagi-Don had bones in it, so be careful. Each meal ordered came with soup or salad. We ordered soup but then were charged for each individual bowl of soup and had to ask our server to remove the charge, which she did very reluctantly and with attitude. There are many other, better places to go for the value and quality. 2 Stars is seeming more like a very generous rating. read more
