The man working the register walked up to us and interrupted our conversation not knowing any context and was a bit rude to be honest. I understand promoting the merchandise and trying to convince and sway us to buy but being rude won't get me to purchase anything or make me feel intimidated by you. He knew how to rush us out the door with his attitude and tone. Merch is pricey and the man working isn't the friendliest. Would recommend skipping the merch and just walk around the free informational area.

There are clean bathrooms in the visitor's center, but at the upper lighthouse parking the bathrooms are more primitive. Similar to what you'd find at a park or campground. We've always skipped the visitor's center, but decided to finally give it a try. Inside is a tiny gift shop (more like a nook), a self guided museum type exhibit in one room, an open area with an information desk and some simple displays. A large window looks out to a rock face. There is a rear door that leads to a picnic area. We spent about 20 minutes inside. Including a restroom visit and gift shop meltdown. At the information desk we overheard someone asking how to find the lighthouse. They were instructed to walk 1/3 mile up the road. The person at the desk neglected to tell them they could drive up and park. I'm sure the walk is lovely, although I suspect it has a steep incline. If you have difficulties walking, driving to the lighthouse is probably a better option. We've been coming here for many years and have made many visits to the lackluster, concrete-floored, National Parks restroom facilities near the lighthouse and viewing area. Don't be like me. Stop inside the interpretive center for clean, indoor amenities like hot water and air fresheners.

It's pretty small but the self guided tour was free so we didn't mind. I currently feel more peaceful just thinking about being there.

Yaquina Bay Lighthouse is the other lighthouse on the south side of Newport, Oregon. A small town I…read moream very partial towards. I love the fact that there are two lighthouses on both sides of town. The place is scenic already with the Oregon Coast but having not one but two lighthouses makes it all the more magical. This one looks a lot different than the lighthouse north of town. This has a fine historical aspect to it and served as a residence as well if you can go in and tour around which you can't always do. And of course like most lighthouse locations there is a great view involved here and you can look out over the ocean. I recommend visiting both lighthouses in town but the one north is my favorite but both are nice, minor walks and plenty of picture opportunities are are available here.

Second, the pull in spot looks like it was well thought out. Plenty of space to maneuver. While the poor soul(s) in charge of the RV do the dumping, everyone else can pop on into one of the nicest visitor centers we've ever been to... and we've driven through almost all the states in the union. The center doesn't need to be open as they've got a great protected setup just outside the front door. Fortunately they were open, so we went in and spoke with Mike who was extremely helpful! He pulled up a map of the city, and with a red sharpy quickly marked all the places in town where we'd be able to pull up and park parallel... he even took into consideration how steep different streets were. If you're visiting Newport, go here first before anywhere else!

Cute little bridge on the Oregon coast. I love how easy it was to find and that it had a small…read moreparking lot. I want to say it can fit about 5-7 cars in the lot. I came here in the winter expecting rain and fog. Got a few good eerie looking shots, which was nice. If you're from California, this bridge will remind you of a tiny version of the bixby bridge. I can see this place having a nice view on a clear and sunny day. I would love to go back when the weather is clear :)

If you're looking for an event space in Yachats, odds are there will be a space in this building that can accommodate you. Please be aware though, that if you have any questions whatsoever throughout the process of scouting, securing a reservation, and planning for your event, the coordinator will be nearly impossible to reach and likely will not return your call. (This is why I can only give the space 3 stars overall) This review comes from someone who works for an event space, so I truly know how busy a role like this can be, however, when numerous phone calls with questions about the space go unanswered, and community members see my pleas for help on Facebook, that was the only way I was able to get quite simple information that a return phone call would have taken maybe 2 minutes of time. I finally bit the bullet and rented the place sight unseen, hopeful it would work for our event (and it did). Prior to our arrival, I did get the coordinator on the phone to discuss arrival time and location, however she forgot this arrangement and called me the day before our arrival to confirm erroneous details, which I had to remind her of. She then was 15 minutes late to meet up, which set our schedule for the day behind from the get-go. No instructions were given about clean up other than someone would be by to weigh the trash(?), and that person did not ever show up. After the event, 10 days went by before I called to inquire about the refund of our security deposit. I was told by the coordinator it had been issued, so I called my bank, confirming they did not have anything pending on their end. While on the phone with my bank, a receipt was sent via email showing the refund had just THEN, that morning, been initiated. It finally cleared the bank 2 weeks after our event. Perhaps the coordinator is going through a difficult season of life that makes necessary communication less than ideal, but prospective renters should be aware that if you aren't a local organization with a standing reserved room or a "regular" it seems like customer service is not prioritized.

Love this little beach town! It has everything we love when visiting the Oregon coast...beach…read moreaccess, fresh seafood, lovely house rentals with ocean views, walkable trails, and cute little souvenir shops to peruse. The only thing it doesn't have is a gas station. Nearest one is 8 miles north on highway 101 in Waldport. Highlights include the Yachats State Park and Recreation Site. Great views with a viewing platform, tide pools to explore, restrooms, and plenty of parking. Many grab a bite in town and come here to eat it with a gorgeous view. Good eats include Luna Sea Fish House, LeRoy's Blue Whale, and Ona Restaurant & Lounge. Topper's is a great place for salt water taffy, ice cream, and handmade fudge and chocolates. If you're looking for rental properties, Sweet Homes is a great company to work with. We've used them a few times and have always been happy with pricing, amenities and correspondence. There's also a post office, Dollar General and C & K Market for last minute items. Overall, one of our favorite coastal towns to visit. Not crowded like more popular beach towns. A perfect place to relax and rewind. Highly recommend.

They have locked mailboxes inside for P.O. box rentals. Place was clean and organized. Employees are friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

This a great new access point to an intimate wildlife refuge on the Oregon Coast, this a new…read moreparking area and access just south of the Cutler City district of Lincoln City, a small parking area, but has a car-top boat put in and access to an approximately 3 mile kayak or SUP loop in a slough, and access to the Siletz River too. Theres also a great hiking trail and is generally just a peaceful and tranquil place.
