The Tom Bass Park is one of my favorite places in the Houston/Pearland area. The park is huge, well maintained, and always clean every time I visit. It's a great place to exercise, spend time with family, or just enjoy being outdoors, this park has something for everyone. The walking trails are beautiful and perfect for getting steps in, especially around sunset or 5pm glow time. I also take my dog to the dog park pretty frequently and it's one of the biggest and cleanest dog parks I've ever been to. There's plenty of space for dogs to run and play. There is a big side and small dog side and the grounds seem that they are well cared for! read more

A huge park with soccer fields, play area, a pavilion etc, with quite a few mature trees and a lott of grass for golf, for volleyball etc. There is plenty of parking at various entrances. A huge walking loop connects you to the entire park area. A lot of Pearland events happen here now I can see why. Of course there is children's play area and an open gym too with about 4 or 5 machines, that's pretty cool ! Some parts of the park need to maintain cleanliness. read more

However, it's also a great park if you are trying to meet your fitness goals. It's so spacious and has numerous areas to workout. It doesn't matter if you run, walk or cycle. Lots of people seem to love this park for the golf course or gathering spots in the park, but for me, the main amenity is the 1.1 mile walking/jogging trail. Once you enter the trail, it is easy to just stay focused on the journey. The trail is elevated and encircles a relatively small lake. I always enjoy listening to music while walking trails or tracks in parks, and this is the perfect place to do that. Looking forward to returning during Autumn for another enjoyable walk. I've found parking easy here, and the trail wasn't too crowded. Highly recommended. read more

If you're into being outdoors and enjoying the fresh air, Tom Bass Park is a great location to visit to meet your outdoor needs. Nestled around a golf course, TBP is vast and broad with views and activities. However, you won't experience this if you only visit one side of the park! My initial visits to TBP were on the Cullen side of the park where you'll find the walking trail, pond, and kids playgrounds. Pretty satisfying, but one day, I decided to walk around the golf course and kept going. Wala! A whole other side of the park where there are tennis and basketball courts and a gazebo with winding bridges to enjoy a little wanderlust in the city. The walking trail is more rugid becauss its much more narrower and made of sand versis concrete in certain areas of this side of the park, but more of a landscape view to enjoy the fresh air. I highly recommend a visit to enjoy some self care for yourself and or family if you're in the area. read more

Tom Bass Park is a large (115 acre) park in the Pearland area of town. It's made up of three different sections all next to each other, each featuring their own unique amenities. Tom Bass has everything you would hope for in a large suburban park. Each section of the park includes plenty of playgrounds, picnic areas, BBQ stations, open fields, and trails. This is the perfect park for get-togethers with a large group of family and friends. There's something here for everyone, even dogs. Section I includes a large dog park. The Arts Pavilion in Section I looked a little run-down, but held events pre-COVID. Section III is our favorite and features a large lake with surrounding 1.2 mile paved trail complete with mile markers. The lake looks natural, rather than manmade with islands of shrubbery, trees, and overgrowth near the west end. The lake is also a popular spot for fishing! There are always plenty of birds including ducks around when we visit! Section III is overall smaller than Section I and feels more cramped due to less parking and open areas. If you're unable to find a parking spot in the main section, we've been able to find parking near the golf course. Section II mostly consists of a large golf course, known as the Clear Creek Golf Club. read more

(From October 2020) Located in Pearland, it's a large park with three different parts consisting of a pavilion, lake, and golf course. It's also got playgrounds and picnic areas for family experiences. The lake is absolutely stunning when the weather is nice. The sky reflects on the water giving a scene of beauty. I had to come grit in today and it started raining on me nevertheless, goal achieved! There's also a nice golf course here and an arts pavilion. They have several mini pavilions for public rental. Absolutely love this park. Tons of things to do. Came here for the dog park and it was huge! Super clean with well maintained grass. Little fun dog obstacle course too. There are designated areas for medium/ large dog breeds and a smaller designated area for dogs under 30lbs. Parking is right in front with a grill and water fountain. Will visit again. read more

I have been here twice: Once a few days after a rain - lots of mud so not ideal. Once on a beautiful day no rain - great place. I have only been on the Large Dog side. I like the security of the entrance and exit gate; nice walking path; LOTS of areas to run and get wiggles out. I do NOT like that there are poop bags PROVIDED and people don't pick up after their pet. I understand that this is a global issue at most dog parks, but this park is the worst I have seen. They do clean it every Wednesday, so go on a Thursday and it may be better. Also, they dog water fountain is turned off. I am not sure why that is...other dog parks have theirs on. So bring water for your furbaby. I can say that, up to now, most owners have been honest about their dog and how friendly they are. There was only one owner that had their small dog off leash and they were very upset when other off-leash dogs approached their pup. My thoughts, don't bring your dog to an off-leash dog area. There are PLENTY of other walking paths in the entire Tom Bass Park that they could be on. Probably due to COVID times - the only bathroom is Port-A-Potty's. They do have a little handwashing station. read more

You can do whatever you want in this big giant park. I visited this park back in 2011 and had a mini picnic with my sister. I came back in 2015 and played with Pocky and even watched my sister fish, since I don't have a fishing license yet. The park is huge. It has bike trails that cover the whole lake, picnic tables and all. I come here just to walk around while listening to music. It's a relaxing park. I take my dogs to the park all the time. The trails are great to walk on, although it is a bit scary when you don't see where the next person may be coming from. It's very peaceful there and I would highly recommend bug spray for the mosquitoes that come out during certain seasons. read more

I go fishing every week and today was Tom Bass Park. Here is a thourough review. Mostly focused on fishing. I was searching places in the Houston to go fishing and came across this place and decided Id give it a shot. I came at 6:50 and the weather was great! No heat and a nice breeze. We started off on the pier, the pier is a floating pier so it moves as waves come but you dont really notice. We started tight line fishing on the left side right beside the pier. Pan fish were always getting hooked and getting off but they were biting! I casted one with a worm and a 3/4 oz weight and it went down to the bottom. Instantly I got a bite the fish (probably a 5lb Channel Catfish) bent my rod in the shape of a U, I could barely eer real he was so big, then SNAP, he snapped off the hook, he was a HUGE fish. We pressed our luck for another hour and decided to go to the right side where the ducks hang out. Good choice. As soon as we arrived we saw a duck with a 10" bass in its mouth and several with pan fish. Another person fishing had even caught a pirahna! We found this place about 11 feet from the bank with tons of panfish biting, we caught several of perch with a small hook, nightcrawlers, and a cork about 4 feet deep. After we ran out of worms i wanted to try to catch some catfish so i took off the cork and hooked some minnows. The cats were biting like crazy! The only downside to this 6 hour trip was that the turtles would always bite your bait and you'd have to unhook em i caught about 6 turtles! All in all this was a great fishing expericence. I will probably make this my primary fishing place! Good luck! read more

This review is solely for the Dog Park portion of the park. The park is pretty size able and I found the Dog Park a little difficult to find. Drove by it twice. There are signs, but they weren't well placed. The Dog Park is broken up into a small and large size. The trap entrances and exits are the best I've ever seen. The park was clean and dry, no mud or standing water. Honestly it's pretty fancy as far as dog parks go. The reason I'm only giving it three stars is because of its size. It's huge! I think it's too big to quickly get to your dog if something goes awry. At the back of the small dog side it curves back around the large dog side and leaves a big blind spot. Today there was only two other dogs and all three played nicely. There no way I would come here on a crowded weekend. read more

Beyond disappointed with the Tom Bass Community Center post pandemic. They hired a young, inexperienced, unqualified body, J. Wright, to fill in as site manager during the pandemic. I have never found someone so mean and rude in my life. She loves spouting off in your face yet not listening to constituent/patron responses and being extremely aggressive with initial contact. She comes across as highly Ignorant, arrogant, condescending, redundant, rude, disrespectful, and more. She is also dishonest stating she had been working there for 14 years (never saw her before and I've been going there for 22 years) when it's only been 2 per her supervisor. She is highly unqualified for any service position let alone a management position. She needs to be fired immediately! The parks are fine for training and the parks I, II, III maintenancepost-pandemic staff are very nice and sweet. contractors the county hires for projects are bottom of the barrel, and they can't keep a project manager very long, so any projects are never completely completed (i.e. some trail areas are no longer useable for safety reasons due to being incomplete). Don't bother contacting parks and recreation as they don't care and will take a message to get to the correct person to call you back but the call never comes. read more

This review of Tom Bass Regional Park is going to cover the Wilmont Disc Golf course that is on sight. It's an 18 hole course with dirt tees. I don't know what it is about this town and "wetlands" but why do they decide to make all of the disc golf courses on or near these preserved wetlands? I mean think about it, your out walking around all day to play a game of golf and you have to constantly make sure you're not stepping into a huge puddle of mud. Anyway, as for the Wilmont course, I don't like it. The tee's suck and the grass needs to be mowed. It's over a mile long, which isn't a bad thing, but it's laid out pretty miserably. The usual distance of a hole in Disc Golf is anywhere from 250 ft- 350ft, you will occasionally see one that is 400+ ft. At the Wilmont course however, distance is only a concept. They have 2 holes over 700ft and one that is 1,000ft! Just too long for this sport, I've never seen anything like it. They do have another 18 hole course here as well, the Powell course. Although we didn't get a chance to play it, I would recommend it over the Wilmont. As for the Park itself, it's big and very clean so that gets a few extra stars in my book. They have an outdoor theater as well and I would think they have some cool little concerts out here. INSIDER TIP: If you are going to play disc golf here, wear shoes, not flip-flops read more

I love this park!! First of all, it's HUGE. There's a golf course and several group picnic areas. The park has a dog park and an assortment of covered playgrounds. Did you catch that part?? The playground equipment is covered by large shades!! Winning!! The biggest attraction I think is the running/walking track. One time around is 1.1 miles and bikes are welcome on the track at certain times of the day (I think 10 am to 4 pm). The track circles a large lake where people are always fishing. I love exercising at this park because there are always other people walking and it's a beautiful environment. read more

I'm lucky that this little gem is less than a mile from headquarters (home). You like golf? They got golf. You like dogs? They have a dog park. You like ponds, walking, jogging, playgrounds, exercise areas, sand volleyball, pavilions with BBQ pits, lush grass, open space, a clean environment and more? YOU GET THE PICTURE! Open from dawn til dusk (get it?). They usually have a sheriff rolling through consistently to ensure the safe enjoyment of the public. They're are some other amenities that I am less familiar with. I don't know what some of the buildings are for. But it's a great place for the pooch and I to get some fresh air, exercise, and aggravation when she behaves like a savage. They also have swinging chairs sprinkled throughout with beautiful views of the hills, ponds, sky's, and fields. It's nice to just sit and ponder life atop a hill overlooking the scenery. Hidden gem outside the beltway, with ample parking, vast grassy fields for social distancing, surprisingly immaculate restrooms, paved walking trails, and great fishing spots. We had a family picnic and the maintenance staff was polite and helpful to bring us our own garbage bags. Only downside is the pavilions, fishing pier, and playgrounds have been roped off and inaccessible due to COVID. Otherwise, reserving one of their pavilions would be terrific for a gathering. read more

Went on a Sunday morning. Large park with different sections and includes a golf course. Went to section 1 and section 2 later in the day. Section 1 has playgrounds that are open. 4 year old son and 12 year old daughter enjoyed. 13 year old son spent his time trying to catch fish in a very little pond. Section 2s playgrounds were closed off by tape. Elder son enjoyed fishing in a larger pond. Lots of space. On your first visit, I recommend driving and scouting different sections of the park. Plenty of people but not crowded. read more

This is a huge park in Pearland. There are two different entrances that I've seen/used. There is also a golf course here. The main entrance is off of Cullen. One you drive in, you follow a path in which it lopes off into many different sections. There are a few different playground areas here that always have a pavilion with seating underneath it nearby. They have exercise stations scattered out around the park. You can tell it's a very "nature-esque" park as opposed to other parks in the area which are more "bare". There are lots of trees and it's very natural looking here. It can also look a bit "unkept" and kind of old when compared to other parks. There are bathrooms located throughout along with free standing portable bathrooms here and there. There's plenty of parking. You just need to find a section you'd like to come back to or hang out in and park there. They have volleyball courts closer to the Cullen entrance pathways and also a senior garden. Towards the back (and second entrance off of Fellows road), is a fishing lake with an elevated jogging trail all around. This is where we mainly see people walking/running around the loop (encompassing the lake). The jogging trail surrounding the lake is across from the golf course (Clear Creek) and club house. There is a covered playground set off to one side all by its lonesome with its own parking lot. Pass up that lot and there is another that will get you to a playground for smaller children (toddler-age). There is a building next to it (restrooms I think). If you follow the sidewalk that leads away from this parking lot, it will take you to another playground area a little farther in and also to the new recently installed equipment - an NFL-style challenge course (aka ninja warrior course)! The farther set playground is for school-age children (5-12 years). It has slides, climbing structures, a plastic rock wall, musical play equipment, two play drum sets with seats, balance structures and more. There are benches set all around along with some picnic tables. You can sit and watch your kids play no problem. The only problem, during the summer, is that this playground isn't covered. It's got metal beams that make me think it used to be covered but at the moment, it isn't. Maybe they'll cover it again soon so that the equipment won't be too hot for the children during the day when the sun is out. The new challenge course was the most popular play area today. It seems everyone is dying to check it out and brought their kids by. There is a 40-yard dash in which you can check your running time. I saw a lot of kids doing that. The course is set up as a timed obstacle course. You can also download an app to monitor your progress on this course. This section is for older children (13+ years) but I saw a lot of little ones playing around on the equipment also. There are three sections to this park. We haven't explored all three sections yet as this is a big park! It seems to have something for everyone no matter what age. The playgrounds are in section III while the golf course is in section I I believe. It's a big park and fun for all no matter your interests. read more

This is such a beautiful park. All the reviews are right. If you are looking to use the jogging path around the lake you need the entrance on Cullen. The entrance listed as the address on Yelp is near the golf course, about a mile from the lake. This has become my morning workout spot. The people are friendly and the lake is stunning at sunrise. There are tons of picnic tables as well as a little workout center and football still area with instructions on how to use them to workout. I haven't found one thing to not like about this park. read more

Great place to get a morning run in before the sweltering heat creeps in to take over the day. Afternoon jogs in the summer are tough. The sun reflects off the water in the middle of the jogging path. There are a few trees along the path so you can catch a bit of shade here and there. Either early morning or late evening during the summer are comfortable times to jog. The path is marked off at quarter mile increments. Plenty of bathrooms, a few water fountains, and several play areas for the Kids. read more
