Sunday me and my family visited spots apart and it was very beautiful and very peaceful although they need to trim the grass and do some landscaping other than that. It's a very nice part to visit. Cute little park off of Memorial Dr. Walking paths that wind around it, although today some spots were extremely muddy due to the recent snow and rain we had. This park has trees shading picnic areas, basketball and volleyball courts, and a playground for the littles. It's tucked down below street level, so if you're driving on Memorial you are likely to miss it. Easily connects to the Buffalo Bayou Park by way of the Rosemont Pedestrian bridge. read more

Spotts Park is a neighborhood park located in the Heights area of town. Our favorite thing to do here is grab a pair of BBikes from the station and bike over to Buffalo Bayou Park. You have just enough time to make it to the Houston skyline off Sabine Street bridge and make it back to the Spotts Park BBike station in an hour. The park itself has a playground, basketball court, and volleyball court, and a trail to bike or walk on. The parking lot has about 15 spots and if it's full, there's parking available on the street as well. If you're here during the evening, make sure to check out the Waugh Bat colony flight. It's just a short walk to the Waugh Bridge. read more

It pains me to write this review because I want to keep this a hidden gem so badly! This has been my favorite park for two years now. It's a great place for family or a picnic date. The area is super safe, right next to an HEB and plenty of apartments. Really open concept so it's great to let your dogs or children run loose without losing sight of them. Alright, alright. Houston, thank you for all of your gorgeous parks!!! I will forever be impressed with how many nice parks there are to go to! I love nature and going for walks. Especially with a partner to gossip with and talk about life with. So, this park is pretty nice and windy. I don't know how many miles it is to walk the entire thing but if you're doing your walk or run you can cover quite a distance which is nice . I was pleasantly tickled that they were doing some kind of construction to this park so one of the pathways are blocked. Okay, one weird thing is that there is a bat watch at 8 o' clock every night I believe. Apparently people sit under a bridge to watch a cascade of bats emerge to feed. That's cool and all but I would never ever participate. Just saying, not my thing. So, the reason why I would not return here is that there was too much evidence of break ins at several spots. Recent break ins to vehicles and I bet the crooks won't get caught unless they have cameras mounted but if they did it would be a stronger deterent. It's a pity though because the park itself was quite nice. I visited here with my sister after she found this place and we both agreed it would be the last visit. read more

One of the only parks that I love to go to for stair workouts with my clients, but I don't feel safe going anymore especially early morning when it's dark because my client had her car broken into in the parking lot a couple of weeks ago and my car was broken into this past weekend. So convenient that there is a parking lot at this park. It made setting up for our picnic really easy. The park was a good size with a couple trees to sit under and an open field area, plus a basketball court. We saw several work out groups and I'll more than likely chose the same spot for future outdoor gatherings. read more

Spotts Park is a neighborhood park in The Heights. It's the nicest park in the world but there is a lot to do. They have a basketball court, sand volleyball court, and a tennis court. There are trails to walk or run as well as plenty of grass if you want to hang out. It is a dog-friendly park but dogs have to be on their leash throughout the park. OK so lately I have been in search of some public basketball goals, especially covered ones to play some decent pick up games. Well this place was exactly what I was looking for. There are the default 4 goals set up. In this weather full court really isn't an option so we just played half court. The court itself is slippery but it's good enough, this place keeps the nets still up which is a must. For a saturday afternoon the competition was kind of weak at first but I think it can vary as some decent players showed up. Everyone was nice and not ghetto at all. read more

I go to this park often, but there are some bad things about it. Recently, a bunch of car break-ins have occurred at the park. Every week there is shattered window glass in the parking lot. So never leave valuables visible here. Spotts Park isn't a dog park, but there are a lot of dogs, and one tried to bite me. Luckily there is only a hole in my shorts and not my leg. Dogs are supposed to be on leashes in the park, but no one follows that rule. And one more thing. On some weekends, groups will (try to) "reserve" parts of the park for their events. They even use there huge SUVs to block the entrance to the parking lot, while simultaneously blocking in anyone (me) that is already parked in the lot. read more

YOU WILL GET YOUR CAR BURGLARIZED AT SPOTTS PARK. Seriously. My son loves playing ball at the basketball court at Spotts, so we come here once in a while. Over the last few years, I've seen at least half a dozen cars broken into. I though I was too smart to let that happen to me as I always took precautions. Well low and behold, if someone wants to steal your stuff, they will steal your stuff. Had my car broken into in March. Not much I could do about it. You'll call the police and they'll take your report by phone. The end. I parked my car literally 30 feet from a super busy playground. Either people don't want to get involved or this thief had the gentlest touch ever, because apparently no one saw anything. I wish I had had enough sense to stop going to Spotts after witnessing a few cars getting broken into. Thankfully all these a-holes got was a bag full of my son's dirty clothes. read more

Dropped by Spotts Park on Saturday for a BBQ/Bubble Soccer birthday... The park itself is a bit hard to find (thanks google maps!) and much harder to park! I drove around for like 10 minutes and stalked people leaving, (yup similar to what I do at the Galleria during the holidays. Lol!) until I found a spot across the street. The parks actual "parking lot" consists of maybe 20 legitimate parking spots (that I saw) so consider yourself lucky if you find one, but other than that, street parking is available. I read several comments about people breaking into cars; I didn't witness a break in but I did see glass on the floor on the street adjacent to the park so I made sure to hide all my sh*t in the trunk. On the bright side, this park is phenomenal! I loved how it's it was so open, the lay out and all the different areas it has. It has a basketball court, volleyball sandbox, walking/running trails, and ample space to run around. We bbq'd, broke a piñata (hung it on one of the trees) and played soccer bubble. The park sits into the ground (not sure how to explain this lol ) so you can even roll down the hill! Yeap, I rolled down the hill, and the best part is, I literally rolled down inside of one of those soccer bubble thing-a-ma-jiggers. Yes, I had a blast! I absolutely loved the city views, specially when the sun started to set. I'll definitely be back to explore the rest of the park! read more

The neighborhood 16.24 acre playground. I live in walking distance from the park. It is a nice area away from the concrete jungle and pollution that is Houston. I probably go here about once a week to play basketball on their outdoor / covered / lit basketball court. There are usually two half court games of 4 v 4. Most people are too lazy (or perhaps out of shape?) to play full court. There are running trails, 2 sand volleyball courts, a jungle gym, benches for picnics and of course open fields/trees. Many times you can see people training or exercising by running up and down the hills because it is VERY tiring. There are also steps and tennis courts up on top. edit: Because this park is in the developing Heights area, I would not leave anything valuable out in the open or in cars. The tennis courts are not as outstanding as they are at Memorial, but it is a good secondsies option - not your first choice but it will still do, and is far preferable to driving even further for courts elsewhere. You have the bag lady's conundrum here: there are so many break-ins I do not even feel comfortable leaving things in the trunk, but if you bring everything of value with you in your tennis bag, you look like a packrat and you have everything just sitting there on the side of the court as you play tennis. Someone just as easily could come steal your bag and walk away while you are in the middle of a balls to the walls rally, zerg net rush, and slammed overhead ... and a celebratory pointing and laughing at your opponent. I love this park.I saw a lot of blue bonnets around this park.I visited there. Every year, we can see some bluebonnets around the park along Allen parkway. Fine park to enjoy and run. Can get flooded during heavy rain. Has basic amenities such as green space and a cement walking trail. Parking can be limited and you generally need to park on the side of the road. There are some good hill runs that start from here. It could be a bit more well lit in the morning especially by the clover leafs. Bottom line. Good place to start a run either on the bayou or to the clover leaves. Parking can be limited and the amenities are limited in the park. I don't think there is a bathroom?? If you live or work near close to downtown and you'd like to visit the park, this is the closest one. There are definitely pro's and con's about this park but I'm a positive guy so let's start with the pro's. There is a nice walking or jogging trail. I see new moms pushing their babies in strollers and getting some exercise. There is a basketball court that is pretty popular and is covered so on those hot summer days, you aren't totally baking. There is a lot of open grass for whatever purpose you like, running, exercising, playing with the dogs etc.. There is a sanded volleyball court that can get pretty crowded on the weekends. There are hills and stairs to run up as well. There is a small playground for the kids to play. Lastly, my favorite, there are calisthenics bars to get a great workout. And now for the con's. Parking is pretty limited. On busy days, people will park towards the end of the park and depending on the day and the mood, you could get a ticket. DO NOT leave valuables in plain sight! I see broken glass in the parking lot quite often bc a purse or bag was left. My window has never been broken but I take any bags with me in the park. Lastly, it floods really easily. WARNING: Your car will be broken into. Okay, with that out of the way, this park is truly awesome! Volleyball, tennis, basketball, playground, trails which lead to Buffalo Bayou, Eleanor Tinsley, Memorial Park, etc. plenty of open space for soccer, football, etc. this is a prime park right in the heart of Houston. Truly, what makes this park so fantastic is the amount of people that are constantly at the park being active, staying fit, and playing pickup basketball, volleyball, biking, training, soccer, etc. There is always a picnic happening on the weekends and there are clearly a few different groups that regularly meet at the park (i.e. dog groups, training/fitness groups, youth athletics, etc.) If you can, walk to the park. Seriously, I am here multiple times a week and almost every time I am here, I see someone's car which has been broken into on my way out. It's ridiculous. The city needs to make sure the parking lot is lit and send frequent police patrols through the area in an attempt to limit the break ins. read more

Being very close to my house, I really enjoying including Spotts Park in my run. They have plenty of hills for those who like to work on their uphill sprints and a nice track through the park for those who like to people watch. There seems to always be games going on the volleyball, tennis and basketball courts and kids playing in the playground. The significant-for-a-downtown-park open grassy areas lead to games of ultimate frisbee or football. Even when I run late at night, I have never felt unsafe jogging through or around this park. read more

Writing Review While Having a Garage Sale!!! This is a great park to have a little "Meet & Greet" for volleyball or basketball. Parking kind of stinks but it's a park. Gotta make room for the grass, duh. Probably the greatest thing about this park is also the worst thing about it as well. The main portion of this place is below the street level so you have this really cool hill as a perch for people watching and such. Where the hill sucks, would be when you have to lug a cooler full of melted ice and half consumed soda cans just to make it to your car which is again on street level. Special Note: Great place for volleyball or basketball pick-up games. People are pretty cool and don't really care how good you are at either sport. Strange Note: I once saw what seemed to be contortionists and acrobats practicing what seemed to be their next circus act. Weird but entertaining nonetheless. read more

We took our kiddos this afternoon because of the Blue Bonnets along the curve exit from Memorial...but kiddos loved the hills to run up and down! And roll! Awesome views, great trails/hills. Would be nice if there were at least some enforcement of law there and it would get 5 stars. Too many dogs without leashes, people littering, the traffic and trying to find a parking spot. OH and the break ins. Do not leave your valuables in your car. I have seen HPD do speed traps right in front of the park but they do not have the resources to do anything about the break ins? Hmm. read more

This is a great park in a great location! There are a few pros and cons that warrants my 3 star review: Pros - Great location with great views of downtown - basketball court, tennis courts, open grassy areas for either volleyball, ultimate frisbee, etc. - benches and park workout areas - water fountains aren't bad Cons - Be weary of where you park your car. Even if you park it in the lot, I've seen a number of incidents where cars were broken into. This park is a hotspot for thieves that will go around smashing windows just to take one item out of your car. THEY WILL DO THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. I have multiple friends who have gotten their cars broken into whether at night or in the day time with lots of people roaming around. (this is the main thing that ruins this park for me) - There is limited parking in their lot, especially on nice days when everyone wants to go to the park. Beautiful park located conveniently next to the Buffalo Bayou and just off of Memorial Drive. This park features a kicking trail, 2 beach volleyball courts, a covered basketball court with 4 rims, tennis courts, playgrounds, and bar-gym workout areas. Very popular area for workout groups and pick up basketball. The hills offer a great challenge to those who want to push themselves. I personally take advantage of the bar gym after I ride my bike on the Buffalo Bayou. read more

This is one of my favorite parks in Houston. I don't know why I haven't reviewed it sooner. It's in a super cool location, sort of sunken down into it's own pit of nature. There are plenty of places for whatever you want to do here. Basketball courts, picnic tables, walking track, open fields, jungle gyms, and more. I've gone here to sketch for my drawing classes, to do science experiments in the field, and to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July. I don't know why, but something about Spott's feels like it's home. I love this park. read more

You can run on the trail, play basketball, volleyball, run up hills, tennis courts, etc. There are many boot camps that congregate in Spotts park in certain areas, marathon runners training, basketball teams, people playing soccer, bicyclists, etc. The only thing about this park is that parking gets CROWDED, so be careful with where you park because someone did a hit and run on my new car when I came back and didn't even leave a note or own up to it! read more

It's been many years since I've come back here. One of our groups facilitated a Bayou Bend Clean-Up day so I quickly volunteered and took my daughter with me. We started pretty early in the am and parking in Spotts Park is still as small as I remembered. Street parking is available and there was a good amount of people doing Yoga down the hill, a small group playing basketball and lots of walkers with their dogs. From a distance, the park looked very well kept. There are few picnic tables alongside their sand volleyball area. When our volunteer leader arrived, he came prepared with trash bags, gloves and refreshments and we slowly started downhill. Everyone started picking up small things but nothing overly disgusting. From afar, we saw large crowd of PINKs (Susan G Komen walkers) on blocked streets and different music playing. What a beautiful morning to see all this activity going on! We walked the winding trails, picking up whatever trash laying on the ground. It surprised me that many people just threw their dog pooped bags everywhere. Shocking to know that if you took the time to pick up the poop in a bag, why not discard it in the trash bins. :( We walked the trails for a couple of hours, emptying out our bags in the designated trash bins. I admired a lot of the different trees, wild flowers, different artwork pieces placed around our paths. I made a mental note that I would love to come back with my mom to take pictures. read more

GREAT park BUT do NOT leave anything of value in your car. There have been multiple break ins lately. I left my purse (yes, my fault) in my back seat on the floor somewhat hidden and my window was bashed in and purse stolen (wallet, keys, iphone, etc). This also happened to a few cars around us. I did call HPD to report to hopefully have more patrol around the area. I was with my 3 year old and am just happy I didn't walk up while it was occurring. My car was burglarized last Saturday around 4 to 6 pm (5 nov 2016), I have a Camaro 2014 silver. I parked my car just outside the entrance to the tennis courts. The thief manage to use a screw driver and a pin to unlock my door and the alarm went off. If anyone witness anything please let me know. Any info would help to bring bad guys to justice! read more
