This park on Eastside Street is such a wonderful place to have in Houston. It offers plenty of room and amenities, including a dog park, an activity lawn, promenade, a children's park, pavilion, and an event lawn, plus restaurants nearby. With street parking in the surrounding area and clearly marked parking areas for the park itself, it's a pleasure to visit. As an added safety feature, they've got security that actively make rounds in the park and by the parking areas monitoring. There are plenty of tables at this park as well as areas for play. Stumble upon their games cart with a rotating supply of board games and strategy games to have some fun with friends or the kids, the art cart with some crafty supplies and the reading room which holds some books and magazines to borrow. They take donations too so you can reach out to them if so desired! The park is clean for what it is, and some areas have device charging stations along with free wifi. A unifying piece of public land in Upper Kirby that ties the peacefulness of the suburbs, livelihood of an urban environment, and madness of I-69 altogether. When it comes to amenities, Levy Park has something for everyone. Kids have a mini water park, climbing walls, and many other cool playground elements at their disposal. Adults can help themselves to ping pong, putt-putt, and even a Hearsay's that just opened. Dogs can make friends at their own playpen. Whatever you're visiting the park for, there are open grass fields and wide walkways to do it. Parking can be annoying at times, but I've always found at least one available spot when I visit. Free spots immediately adjacent to the park are reserved for a maximum of 3 hours and exclusively for park visitors. Occasionally, you get lucky with free all-day parking on Wakeforest St which borders the park. I love coming to this park whether it's at the crack of dawn or the middle of the day. Roughly a third of the area is shaded by trees. The weather is currently bearable to walk in most areas, but my advice? Come here at night for a well-lit, surreal experience. read more

This park is so much fun for my kids to play at in Houston. They have a splash pad, blocks, a slide, and plenty of fun places to explore. I've looked into hosting events or birthday party's here too as they have a small section where you can have a gathering. There's also usually a few food trucks around for ice cream, coffee too. Amazing family and dog friendly park. Especially great park for younger kids with a playground and a clean bathroom. They often have family friendly events and food trucks. There's a very nice large semi enclosed playground that's safe for the little ones and there are features for little older kids (i.e. older siblings). They have a cart with activities. There's ping pong although that's tough when it's windy. There's tiny putt-putt. There's also a dog park with separate spaces for large and small dogs. There's TexMex place on the corner if you get hungry or thirsty. Parking can be challenging. Always interested in checking out nearby dog parks around town. We went on a Monday evening so it wasn't too crowded. Free parking was a breeze to find. Dog parks are great but are even better when they split the small and big dogs into separate areas. The entire park is very modern and fun to walk through and check out. Last weekend, October 4, we celebrated our son's 6th birthday at the Levy Park Family Pavilion inside the Children's Park, and it was really disappointing. We made the reservation in August, there weren't any dates available before this last weekend and the website stated that "bookings weren't available until October, because of the children's park closure". We trusted, but the playground, which was the main reason we rented the pavilion, was still closed for renovation and potentially unsafe. We got a call less than 48 hours before the party, already past their cancellation window, just to review final details, and only then did they mention that "a couple of games" were out of service and the playground would be closed to the public. In reality, more than half of the playground was fenced off, there was no drinking water, and no water play either. We reached out before and after the party looking for a solution, an alternative, or at least an apology, but got nothing. When we finally talk to the Park's management, Monday after the party, they responded defensively, hiding behind legal terms instead of acknowledging what happened and how it affected our son, his friends, and our family. The park director showed no empathy or accountability. Instead, she just kept quoting the terms and conditions to justify not giving a refund, rather than offering any kind of understanding or apology. The truth is, they delivered poor service, withheld important information, and showed zero care for the kids and families involved. Families deserve honesty, clear communication, and respect when using public spaces, and this time, Levy Park's administration really failed to deliver that. read more

This is a nice park area with tons to occupy your time on a nice day - playground for the kiddos, dog park, outdoor seating, food trucks, etc. They also have a couple of carts offering crafts and games for free, so it is a really family-driven and inclusive place to spend an afternoon. Free parking is available along the perimeter street surrounding the par (watch for signage) and paid parking available in the parking garage ($5 on weekends) if it is busy. read more

Levy Park is a great place to bring your fur babies. He or she will have a good time and so will you. There's a section where they are able to run and interact with other dogs and people. The section is split into two sections. One side is for small dogs and the other for larger dogs. On the opposite side of the park, there is a playground for the kids, food trucks, restaurants and a library. When we visited, there was a group doing yoga. There's a Bar called Gaspachos where you can get you a decent margarita and with the purchase, get a treat for your pup or pups. The bartender was friendly but another day we went she wasn't too nice. Maybe she was having a bad day. read more

This is such a cute and well maintained park! Though it's not as large as some others in Houston, it's amenities make up for it. Parking: I saw a lot of reviews noting the parking situation. I personally opted for the parking garage and had no problem (of course the garage is pay to park depending on amount of time). When I arrived there was no street parking available (Monday at 11am) so I can only assume it's hard to get a street parking spot most days. Dog park: There's a cute little dog park that's divided into large and small dogs. That being said, I can't imagine having a large dog here at all. Each section is pretty small and doesn't have any real/natural grass. That's a big turn off for me and my doggos. It also has splash pads like in the children's section. Overall for how great the park is I am pretty disappointed in the dog park section - there's just too much concrete and not enough entertainment for my pups. *the dog park and parking are why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars* Kids park: I don't have any kids but the kids park looks amazing ! From splash pads to musical steps, jungle gyms to rock walls - this place looks like a blast ! There's also 2 kid stations with coloring supplies and games which is a pretty neat thing to have! Seating: There's tons of seating around the park from chairs and tables to benches to rocking chairs. There's even smaller tables for kids. Food: It does seem like food trucks come here but Monday about nmaround 11:45am (when I'm writing this) there aren't any. There's also a food concession stand that seems to be closed. There's 2 vending machines near the restrooms though. Pokemon go: I always like to note pokemon go stops in parks and this park has a ton! Great way to get all your items and even visit the 1 gym they have. Overall I really love the vibe of this park. There's large trees to provide shade plus cool architectural structures for shade too, grassy spots yo sit, a path to follow all the way around, and little extra things (community garden, rain garden) that are fun to explore. Located in the heart of the city, Levy Park feels a lot like parks where I moved from (#1), with the added versatility of being an urban space for all sorts of activities. Whether one is there for a little food truck lunch, a quick jog or stroll, doggy playtime or children fun, this is easy, colorful, outdoor destination. It's not the largest park but it's a sizeable enough a number of activities. The infamous Levy Dog Run is a fun place to take the doggos for some playtime. Over at the Color Wheel is a good place to get a little shade in the sun and people watch at the same time. Youngins who are seeking out some playground fun is sure to find it at Levy, as they have some fun contraptions for kids to climb, run, and burn some much needed kid energy. On occasion, there are food trucks that park on the sides of the park that vary in everything from desserts to hot food. While the variety changes up constantly, it does mean that this could be a lunch destination with plenty of picnic opportunities. Beware of the parking situation. While it's not too hard to find street parking, just make sure to read the signs. Some areas are designated for parking and some others are tow central. An Earth Day appropriate park deserves an Earth Day appropriate review right? If the pictures don't tempt you to visit I'm sure others reviews will. As everyone mentions, the amenities, architecture, food options, caffeine, and community activities are incredibly impressive. However, to me Levy park is about immersion. Although you're meters from bustling 59, you wouldn't know it. Although clustered Richmond road is at your back, you wouldn't care. Although mid rise apartment buildings are in the foreground, you barely notice. Although office buildings linger above Slowpokes, somehow they couldn't feel more distance. Levy park captures the feeling of immersion. When immersed in the experience of the park that has been created for you, you nearly forget it's contrast to the world around you. To me, that's somewhere worth revositon. Although the amenities are nice, the immersive experience is why I choose Levy Park. read more

I come here primarily to take my dogs to the dog park here. The dog park is fairly small but has both a large and small dog section. I love how this park has turf so my dogs don't get muddy when they run around and play. I also like that this park is smaller so I can easily keep track of me pups. This park is great for kids as well. They have a huge playground and also green space with multiple games available to play. They have a little mini golf area and even books that kids can borrow to read. On the weekend I've seen multiple food trucks available if you're craving a snack or something to drink. Restrooms are kept fairly clean here as well. There is free parking available on each side of the park as well as parallel parking bordering the park. On weekends it may be a bit challenging to find a spot. Sometimes I venture into the nearby apartment complex to parallel park. Overall, this is a great space for kids, adults, and dogs. This is a great family park, dog park and generally a whole vibe! Went on a Saturday with our two pups, and hit up the dog park first. There are two seperate gated sections, both astro-turfed, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Though our dogs are small, they play better with big dogs so that was our choice. When you walk in the middle area is open to give you plenty of room to let your dog in safely. There are two poles with bags to clean up after your pet if you didn't bring any and plenty of benches. There is a BBQ style place to grab a sandwich or beer and seating all over the park. The children's area feo what we saw was great and spacious and very creative not a typical playground. Amazing that this 6 acre park has both small and large dog parks, an activity lawn, a children's play park (currently closed due to COVID), outside reading room, community garden, restaurants and moe. The Color Factory has two colorful partnership installations. Love the vintage British style telephone booth that is painted all the colors of the rainbow and more. Check out the Color Wheel where you can sit and spin under the pergola color palette that is open to the sky. The activity lawn has many sports related options. From table tennis to mini golf to soccer, there are lots of ways to burn calories. Play frisbee or football, but also bring hand sanitizer to use before and after participating in any activity or use the hand sanitizer that are available on site. Not sure what to grow in your home garden? Visit the community garden to get ideas of what is in season and what grows well in Houston. From cabbage to brussels sprouts to cages filled with tomatoes to carrots, so many vegetables and herbs are thriving in the garden. Do not pick the produce, though. Fort Worth Chef Tim Love has two unique restaurants on site. The Woodshed Smokehouse offers all things grilled, roasted, or slow-cooked. Not to forget your favorite pup, there is also a special menu for dogs as well as a pet friendly outdoor patio. The Love Shack is a classic burger joint. We frequent the park every weekend. It's not close to us but since it has turf and we have very fluffy dogs that get ruff and dirty, it's work the short trek. They have water fountains that shoot up and in my opinion, plenty of space for our small to medium sized pups the run. Only downsides are 1. People that let their kids in and they run around screaming and scaring or grabbing at the dogs (KEEP THEM OUT! It's not a petting zoo) and 2. People that don't watch their dogs and fights break out. No fault of the park but it happens a lot when we are there, especially during peak times. read more

This is my favorite Houston park! Sure it's small, but there's so much to do! And there's a very nice community feel to it. I love the light globes that hang on the trees and turn on in the dark. It feels like a fairytale place. They have books to read, two ping-pong tables, a kids section, and more! They host classes and movie nights as well! So far I've tried Tango and Zumba, both quite fun. I really want to try the Bollywood Bhangra as well! I also enjoy people watching while sitting on their cool rocking chairs... I've always found parking to be super easy around the park. If you get hungry, there are many restaurants and a cool coffee shop walking distance from here. read more

Much needed update. Last time I penned my review for Levy Park, it was 2010 and this park was just an empty baseball field. Time has certainly changed, and this park has undergone a major facelift... or a total transformation. There's a community garden, bark park, stage woth performances, a calendar of events (pre-Covid), books and craft station, art instillations, splash pad.. a good day's worth of free fun for the family. And with restaurants, cafes and food trucks directly across the street, you can take your snacks to the park for an easy picnic. read more

I spoke with two security guards Bit-You and Troy, the new guard. Bit-You will tow your car for any reason, when you turn your back. One minute, he is your friend, chatting up people in the park. The next minute, he is a laughing hyena, helping the wrecker tow your vehicle. They love to crack down by 8 PM and tow most of the vehicles out of the park. It is highly lucrative, financially slaughtering the park cattle. I watched the wreckers running while they towed vehicles, in case the park visitors catch them in the act, as I did with my camera. I had been parked legally for less than one hour (7 to 8 PM) but my vehicle was towed: Beware the Levy Park Tow Scam! read more

We love Levy Park! We've got twin 3 year olds & there is so much for them to do here. There is an activity area with a large Connect 4, & an arts cart, games cart & a mini library closer to the road. The arts cart is always well organized & supplies are full. I'm usually here during the week though so I'm sure it might not be the case on the weekends. There is a large grassy area in front of the stage & is perfect for picnics! They have a good amount of seating & chairs, but bring your own if you want to have a sure thing. In the enclosed area there is a hill which leads to a wide slide. There's also a splash pad (open in the warmer months) so be prepared for the kids to get soaked! I put mine in swim gear & bring a change of clothes. Also in this area are tunnels, mounds for climbing, an interactive music feature, & other various things for the kids too play on, including a climbing gym. There is another open grassy area where they have jumbo blue blocks for the kids to build with. On this side is also a ping pong table, foosball, & mini golf. For the dog lovers there's also a little dog park which looks nice (I don't have a dog so can't comment further). On the weekends there are usually food trucks parked nearby so if you don't feel line packing a picnic just pick one up! There are also 2 restaurants being built on the park which look almost complete called Woodshed Smokehouse & Love Shack Burgers which are projects of Chef Tim Lowe from Fort Worth. If you do come here on the weekend & can't find street parking there is a parking garage that is very reasonably priced. Don't waste your time driving around & park there. The small-ish park is a hidden gem inside the loop. The park is really family friendly with lots of activities for children and adults alike (playground, large blocks, table tennis, foosball) There are lots of green spots where you can throw around a ball or spread out a picnic blanket and just chill. And most importantly, there are pretty clean bathrooms that are open to the public. Nothing worse than having to leave the park early cause nature calls and there's no where to go. There's plenty of street parking around the park. Most of it is parallel, so hopefully that's something in your repertoire. The Slowpokes Coffee shop is right at the edge of the park, so you can swing by to grab something if you'd a snack or a drink during your time at the park. There's also a BBQ spot - haven't had it so can't really speak to how great it is; just another option. Another option is the Love Shack which serves fries and other concession type foods (I think...lol) There is a security guard that patrols the park. Most of the different individuals filling the role I met were pretty friendly. The park also has plenty of lights which is a cool sight in the evenings should you choose to hangout there after the sun is down. Always an option, and parking will be way easier. And of course, it'll be way cooler in the summers. Bonus: If you'd like to be on the grass, may want to bring a picnic blanket since lawn chairs aren't allowed (I think). This was my first time coming to this park (for a holiday market), and it was beautiful. They had lots of green space and many tables with chairs in different areas of the park. There was also a place where you could buy lunch, drinks, and even ice cream (though the ice cream machine was down when we were there). We enjoyed some hot dogs and the seating, as well as walking around the holiday market that was there that day. There was also a Santa statue that we took pictures with. This park is so, so cool and VERY kiddo friendly. I brought my kids here for a romp with some friends and we had a splendid time. Here are some of the things they loved to play with: 1. "Treehouse" path- the faux treehouse path circles several trees and gives you a great aerial view of the park! 2. Rock wall- the rock wall here is superb to climb on. My kiddo loved scaling this thing by herself. 3. Slide- the slide is made of what looks like stained concrete so be careful! 4. Tunnels- lots of tunnels here for kids to explore! 5. This park is beautiful and fun for the whole family! I'd say kids and adults can get a good workout in on the playground or running around, tossing frisbees or footballs in the open space! It's always bustling with people and even their pets. I have also noticed that businesses frequent this area too promoting animal products. The play areas are all well cared for, there's a splash pad here for the kiddos, super cool. Another feature I do adore is the ability to book an area for an outdoor party here, makes sense to book as it gets busy and the Park officials make sure to hang signage and rope off areas for private parties. Free parking is not for the faint of heart if you come for an event or on a weekend but there is a garage where you can park for like $5 and cross the small street to walk across to the park. Plenty of outdoor chairs and tables available in sitting areas, but you can bring your own folding chairs if that better suits you! ENJOY!!! read more
