And Tom IS as wonderful of a real estate agent as you can possibly find, not only in the San Diego area, but I sincerely feel anywhere else in the country! He is as good as it gets when it comes to a real estate agent. In February 2013, my fiance and I contacted Tom to begin our home search. I had been in touch with a couple of other agents but all of them were (a.) apathetic, (b.) unprofessional, (c.) wholly uninterested in our price range, (d.) disrespectful of our price range and kept trying to jack up our budget. I was frustrated and already feeling defeatist about the home search, when my boss got me in touch with Tom and things really took off. It was SO refreshing to come across an honest, professional, incredibly knowledgeable and efficient realtor. Tom spent about an hour on the phone with me to understand where my fiance and I were coming from and what kind of home we were looking for. He put me in touch with a lender so we could get pre-approved to know what our price range would be. Tom went out with us that very weekend to begin looking for homes; the market was picking up and we all knew we had to get a move on in order to take advantage of low interest rates and still decently low home prices. When Tom would go to homes with us, he was always honest in pointing out what was good and bad about the house. He was always complete objective and sincerely interested in getting us the best house at the best price in the best neighborhood. A couple times, I or my fiance would think a house was decent, but Tom would point out specific flaws or issues with the home or neighborhood. Tom always prefaced the fact that he can have a critical eye, but that's what you want when you go see a house because it's really easy to gloss over the issues and just see what is presented. Trust me, once you move into a house, you find a lot more things wrong with it while living there so having a heads up on potential hot issues is incredibly helpful in knowing what to offer and whether or not you want a home. Since fiance and I aren't native San Diegeans and we were first time home buyers, having Tom on our side was absolutely key for us not to make mistakes and we were so grateful for his input. We were on a time crunch and Tom was always willing to squeeze in appointments randomly throughout the week or booked out entire days to drive us around. One day we saw over 12 homes! Although it was exhausting, it felt good to know we were doing the best we could to find a home and Tom always made us feel as if we were his first priority and most important clients. Having a realtor that works quickly is so important in this market and we would have missed out on a lot of homes if Tom wasn't so quick to get us appointments, When it came time to put offers, Tom was also efficient, very professional and meticulous.
