As a home-owning-weekend-warrior-fix-it guy I can really appreciate someone who is outstanding in their trade. I hired Tom Ralston to create and pour an abnormally shaped concrete slab in my back yard that would support a new hot tub. It was an A+ experience. He showed up when promised (as opposed to many other contractors in this town), his crew was prompt, polite, professional and thorough. Tom and his crew wore all the hats- they engineered and designed a beautiful retaining wall and stadium stairs after a landslide left the area steep, muddy and uninhabitable. They left the site clean each day, they worked fast and diligently, they were can-do problem solvers and having Tom's artistry made all the difference. Tom and his crew did an excellent job on our driveway. These guys go above and beyond on the job site. They have all the right equipment and trucks, as well as having a port-a-potty for the workers. Very professional, well organized and tidy. We wanted colored stamped concrete to match our backyard walkway. They widened our driveway and front walkway and did a perfect job stamping it. Very straight and decorative looking. Great curb appeal! After they sealed it, the release color really popped, giving it that antique look we were looking for. Altogether, they did a remarkable job turning our old, narrow and cracked driveway into a piece of artwork. Tom is an awesome businessman. Easy to talk with and will go the extra mile to make sure the customer gets what they want. And his crew, Bill, Tracy, Antonio, Jesus and Alfonso are top notch. Tom and company put in a small concrete hot tub pad at our Westside house. Every step of the way, the crew performed like pros who had real pride in their work. It was not a high dollar job, but Tom came by at least once a day to assess things and make sure things ran properly. On the day of the concrete pour and finish work, one worker stayed on site for 7 hours perfecting the surface finish and cleaning up. A neighbor commented that the pad looks too good to put a hot tub on. Tom gives a *beep*. Awesome from start to finish. read more

From the first phone call when I reached out to their office with minimal information about the project, they were kind and responsive, and Tom himself took the time to immediately come out and look at our job. We had a new garage installed and they did a wonderful job on the foundation. They were great the entire process - researching options, dealing with county inspections and the finish work. We also had to cut part of our driveway to run new utilities and they filled the trench. Both jobs beat our expectations in all aspects. Our project had some delays with utilities (completely separate and unrelated to concrete) and they were pretty flexible with the scheduling, which really helped. read more

We had a driveway and front porch which were broken and heaving. We needed them replaced and we wanted a path added. We also needed some drainage work done at the same time. We got three bids, and Ralston was the middle one. They took the time to understand the project, patiently answered a million questions and promptly started work when we were ready. Their crew showed up on time and worked flat-out until the project was done. They were all very cheerful and polite, and they seemed to genuinely enjoy their work. When it came to aesthetics they were very serious about it, debating between them how it should be done to look best when we didn't have an opinion. They did some extra little things that were part of the spirit of the project but which were not part of the contract. They finished on time and on budget. We now have a nice driveway of regular concrete as well as a new path of colored concrete built in graceful curves. It looks great and we're very happy with the results. Even after the job was done and paid for, they promptly replied to email questions. When we were shopping for bids both of our neighbors told us that Tom Ralston does great work. Now I can see why he has such a great reputation. Highly recommended! read more

Tom Ralston Concrete went above and beyond. Tom & Holly were a pleasure to work with from bid to completion. They installed concrete steps down to our back patio from our house. They came up with a gorgeous curved design and tinted the concrete to match the rest of our patio. They were professional and reliable. The job foreman Antonio was wonderful to work with and the entire crew was top notch. They left project site spic and span. There is a reason why these guys always have a full calendar, so I recommend calling them as early as you can. They were able to actually squeeze me in faster than they had promised, which I am grateful for as I now have gorgeous new steps in place for the holidays. read more

Tom Ralson knows cement, concrete, decorative finishes, etc. We were impressed. Our job was complicated and we asked several contractors to look at it. Tom was the only one that developed a solution on the spot. His price was very competitive and he inspired confidence, so we signed the contract. They showed up on time, kept the job site safe and clean, and worked steadily until it was completed. Very professional. Ralston Concrete went beyond my expectations. I know everyone raves about this company, and granted, they have done some amazing work. That's why I wanted them to do my patio. But I'm just a townhouse owner who had them pour a patio of colored, stamped concrete for me and they botched it--not once, but twice, and for forever. i specified a 1.5" PVC conduit to run under the patio from the hose bib to the planting area for a drip irrigation system. They prepped the base and laid the rebar reinforcement without the conduit. So I called their attention to it, and they said they'd put in the conduit. I came home from work after the pour to see a 3" conduit sticking out of either end. I said that's too big, take it out quickly and replace it with the 1.5! No, he (job foreman) wouldn't do it. So I called Mr. Ralston and told him what had happened, and he said it's too late to rip it apart and replace the conduit. I said it's too big, it's going to crack the concrete when it dries. He said no it wouldn't. But of course, it did. I believe they just laid the conduit on top of the rebar, and didn't cut the rebar to accommodate the conduit. So ever since the day it was poured, there's been a big crack across the width of the patio right on top of the conduit. They tried to patch it, but it didn't take. I paid $7,000 for that tiny patio and since then it has cracked all over the place, effloresced like crazy, and looks like I did it myself. If you have a big expensive job where they can make a lot of money on you, you'll probably get the great work he is known for. But for a smaller job, I could not recommend them at all. read more

Tom and his team are super great to work with! I had a driveway that needed replacement. The driveway was about 800SF, with weird elevation constraints to work around, I interviewed some contractors that weren't even sure they could deal with the elevation issues to make the entire space usable. I got 3 quotes, and his quote came in the middle of the set, and included a drawing and vision for how to make my house look great including some additional steps and other hardscaping elements. The project was likely one of the more challenging ones, because PG&E had an issue with a gas line that was exposed in the excavation (not Tom's fault, it wasn't deep enough in the ground). Tom and his team spent so much time helping me fight with PG&E to move things along, they coordinated plumbers and gas permits and things that were way outside of the quoted project. Overall the customer service was way above what you would ever expect for any contractor. The final driveway looks great, I get a tone of complements on the improved curb appeal and would highly recommend his team. read more

I cannot praise highly enough the project team of Bill Goff and Antonio who swooped in and carefully gave me the driveway, front porch and sidewalk to the back yard that I wanted. Every step of the way was explained and they were very/extremely accommodating to my own sense of what was right for this project.
