My wife and I found Tom Rott after using a different agent and not being impressed with her service. I found Tom's profile on Zillow and saw all the great reviews and sent him over an email with a few questions. Tom took the time out, while on a cruise with his wife, to write back to me and give me some basic information. When Tom got back into the U.S. he and I had two phone conversations trying to determine the things that were important to my wife and myself in a house before he even sent over a listing. I could tell right off the back that working with Tom was going to be a completely different experience and that we was exactly the type of realtor I was hoping to find. Going out to look at properties with Tom was amazing. After a conversation with Tom, we changed our minds and picked the house that we were going to pass over. I can not even tell you how much we love our home and how happy we are that we listened to Tom. He was dead on about all the things we would love about the home and I am 100% sure that we would not be as happy in the other home. Tom took the time out before and after closing to come with my wife and I to granite yards, tile stores, gave us his opinion on paint, connected us with amazing and wonderful people throughout the whole process, and has had our best interests at hart ever step of the way. He helped us through several hurdles in terms of financing our home and was patient and incredibly helpful whenever we did encounter a problem. When I decided to sell my home and buy another, I did quite a bit of research online to find the right person. I kept coming across Tom Rott and his reviews were exceptional. I decided to give him a shot and set up a meeting. Again, I went online to get some help with what questions I should ask. I had some things I knew I wanted to discuss, but wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything. I came up with a list of about twenty points. I called Tom and we set up a time to meet at my home. The day of our meeting, I was in the front yard with my dogs about 30 minutes prior to Toms arrival. A car drove by and I thought to myself 'that looked like Tom'. 25 minutes later, the same car drove up and parked in front of my house. In fact, several situations arose that quite frankly, if I had any other realtor, I may not have made it through! I initially chose Tom based on the reviews I read about him, and I write this in hope that it will encourage others to do the same. I will recommend Tom to any of my friends, and I wish I could offer more of a guarantee than just my word that you will feel the same. After months of research on my own, I thought I was prepared to buy my first home and contacted Tom to assist me with the process. After an hour having coffee with him, I realized that this turned out to be the smartest decision I had made; I didn't realize how much I didn't know, and I would not have succeeded without his help. Tom Rott provided my wife and I with an excellent experience as we searched to find a new home for our young family upon moving back to Austin. This is the third property I have owned, and I have worked with seven different realtors in the past. By those numbers, you can probably tell that I've had a low level of satisfaction with most realtors I've worked with. Problems I have encountered in the past have been realtors who didn't understand my needs well enough to show me houses of interest, poor pricing on buying and selling of houses, among other problems like personality clashes or just not having a strong enough knowledge of the areas or housing styles we were interested in. With Tom, we had none of these problems. He took us out on many occasions to look at more and more houses as our criteria changed in our hunt for the perfect house. All along he understood what we wanted, the problem is that the price increases in Austin were keeping all the houses we wanted just out of reach. We had the typical problem of wanting more than we could afford, but we were determined to stay within a reasonable budget. In the end, we decided to build a new house, a process I have not done before, and that Tom was extremely helpful in guiding us through. He helped us consider important things like which upgrades would give us most "bang for the buck" when we eventually decide to sell. Tom has been very professional and responsive through the whole process. He has even given me advice since our closing, when there's no money left for him to earn, because he understands the importance of a satisfied client. Tom will always look out for your best interests as a realtor. I cannot find any criticism in the service we received. Looking at his reviews, a lot of others seem to agree. Tom has strong opinions, which may bother some people who don't like to have their assumptions questioned, but for me I like working with someone who is honest and a straight-talker, not just telling you what you'd like to hear but rather what you really need to hear to make the right decision. Tom helped my husband and I buy our first house - we were lucky to find him, he is the best! As first time home buyers, we went into this not only knowing nothing about the process, but also having no idea what part of Austin we wanted to live in. Tom provided tons of helpful information about different neighborhoods and parts of the city. On our first day looking at houses, I think we saw 10-12, located all over town, which was extremely helpful in narrowing down our search. One of the first things I noticed when we were looking at houses was that Tom was very honest and straightforward about negative aspects of a house. If he thought that a house was not renovated well, was not listed at a good price, or would be difficult for resale, he told us right away. I would have thought that a real estate agent would just try to sell every house, but this was not the case! We could definitely trust his insights. On our initial meeting, he tried to get an idea of what we want and explained the different steps that we will pass through from the start to the time that we were handed the key to our house. Tom Rott was originally my Realtor when I rented an apartment in 2009, and ever since I signed that lease I knew he'd be my professional of choice when it came time to make a purchase down the road. Fast forward 3 years and I was finally in a position to buy and Tom was right there for me. His professionalism, attention to detail, knowledge and familiarity with the entire industry/system was of monumental benefit to someone like myself who was a first time home buyer.
