We approached Pied Piper with our concerns about her social development and from the very start we felt completely comfortable. My daughter had a rough start, as I'm sure many kids do. There was a lot of crying, but Kathy and Max communicated so well with us, helping us make a plan for drop off and keeping us informed of how her days were going, what they were doing to help her adjust and celebrating every little win! I was so grateful for the never ending patience and understanding as they let her adjust at her own pace. Before long my daughter was looking forward to "school" (camp) and we quickly signed her up for the 3s program through the school year. She had an amazing year, really finding her place at Pied Piper. We watched, really in awe, as she became so confident and outgoing. She has made so much progress both academically and socially. Pied Piper strikes a perfect balance between play and academics, giving kids a taste of structured work that will prepare them for kindergarten (activity times/music/crafts/worksheets) while still capturing the fun of childhood with plenty of playtime, outdoor time, holiday celebrations and fun. I honestly don't know how they come up with all the things they do, but my daughter is always coming home excited about something! The communication is amazing. This place stands out to me because it is small and intimate yet big enough for my children to grow. I walked out of there each morning knowing my kids were safe, happy and learning. I never had to wonder which is priceless. I prefer centers over home daycares and this school has the safety aspect covered (centers have more stringent rules) and it still feels like you're leaving your child with family. I especially love the amount of play my kids got, the large outside play area that includes a nice sized grassy area with play equipment and a covered area for rainy days. The staff is mature and very caring and most have been employed at Noah's for many years! I love the traditional child activities that help a child grow like imaginative play, fantastic art projects, holiday surprises and more. Noah's Ark has always been flexible with regard to my schedule. My kids always enjoyed the camp too. A fun filled theme centered day and swimming in a perfectly sized pool. Sending my kids to Noah's Ark was the best decision I made. I never second guessed myself. As a teacher & mom this school & camp was great for my children.

They went on to say my 2.5 year old son would first have to enroll (so money would need to be exchanged and contracts signed) and then (and only then) would he (and only he) be allowed into their business. I was informed that I would not under any circumstances be allowed through their doors: "We would show him around but you can't go in with him." This is not recommended behavior by any child care policy setting body in the US. It's sickening to think that this business actually thinks this is an acceptable way to introduce toddlers to day care. It's actually alarming and disgusting.

We basically got buzzed in and were left to fend for ourselves and figure out what we were supposed to do. Upon our last day, no one bothered to change my son's diaper and he was clearly left saturating in his stool because he had a major rash on his bottom- something that only happens when sitting in it for long enough. It was so bad that when I picked him up, it leaked through and over his waist line and onto my arm... Never tell them it's your last day.

When I originally looked for daycares a few years ago, I called and emailed every place in the area. This was the only one that responded in a timely manner! I took about 3 tours and asked a million questions. Communication is so important! I chose CK mahopac because they overly communicate, challenging curriculum and kind staff. I highly recommend checking them out for yourselves if you are in the market for a daycare. They have great early mornings hours (6:30) which not all day cares have.
