Tomahawk was outstanding to work alongside. We had our entryway tile and bathroom tile chipped up and re installed by the team. We were in a very old home and they worked on a complicated pattern. The cuts were perfect. As a designer, I have lots of "opinions"! They were very respectful and offered better solutions. This comes from their experience in the trade. Very responsive. No need to micro manage. If you want to know when they will show up each day, ask. The price was not cheap, but neither is the quality. I will definitely call them when we are ready for the kitchen reno. read more

1.0 After meeting with Richard and his father, they agreed to repair a shower as well as ceiling damage from a leak. We paid over $2000 for a deposit and they cashed the check immediately. They did not meet the agreed upon date to start the work allegedly at first due to illness. After that they had additional excuses. They did not complete any work at all. I requested a refund. That was on February 12. They have continued to say that they will return the deposit. We have received nothing from them. We have had to seek legal action. Strongly strongly recommend seeking services with another contractor with a positive reputation. I'm extremely disappointed with every aspect of this whole process and transaction. read more

About a year ago, we hired Tomahawk Flooring to install laminate flooring before we moved in. They did a superb job and the review we left on Angi reflected that. Unfortunately, our second experience with Tomahawk did not go nearly as well. Last summer (Aug 2022) we hired them to build a screened in porch over an existing deck. They gave us a quote and estimated the job would take 3 to 4 weeks. Based on our positive experience with their flooring job, we hired them. That was in August, 2022. Long story short, it's been eight months and our "three-to-four-week" project remains unfinished. From September through December they repeatedly assured us that they were prioritizing our job and that they would be finished before winter. We believed them. During that time they showed up sporadically, cancelling often. When they did come it was usually after 12:00 noon, which meant they could put in only a few hours at a time before sunset. Come December we reluctantly agreed that the project would have to wait until spring to be completed. Fast forward to the beginning of April, 2023, and after more promises to finish were made and then broken, we decided to hire another contractor. The deposit they asked for was more than 50% of the total cost. We have since learned that this is not permitted according to Maine law. The State of Maine Attorney General's website states: "For all home construction and home improvement projects over $3,000, Maine law requires a written contract with a specific provision that prohibits payment up front of more than one third of the contract price." Unfortunately we were ignorant and naive about this. We acted in good faith and gave them what they asked for. We believe we are entitled to a refund and have requested one. There's been no response. We are prepared to pursue this further. We are leaving this review so that anyone considering them will be able to make an informed decision. read more

I found Tomahawk Flooring online... big job, pricey, but they assured me that job would be done before I moved in. I bet on them. Here are the facts: Did not start on the date when they assured me they would (after having provided a 50% deposit) Started each day in the afternoon (during a time of year when the sun sets at 430p) Locked themselves out of the house X2 (which required that I drive 40 mins each way to unlock the house) Took MUCH longer to complete the job (as per contract) than promised....as a result my move (by professionals) into the house resulted in all first floor contents moved into my garage. Had to argue about the finish of my sanded floors.... they appeared rough after sanding without evidence of poly. Came back and put poly on "thick".... uneven, on my baseboards....I gave up. Made my final payment because I needed to be DONE I consulted Tomahawk because I viewed some positive reviews. I'm only devoting this time to review because I want future customers to sign up with eyes wide open. read more

We were planning on having to use multiple contractors to do the jobs that we needed and were surprised and pleased to find that Tomahawk could do it all. *remove old rugs and prepare 2 sets of steps for new flooring. - install wood stairs with landings ~install click floors in 3 rooms and hallway. "repair several pieces of granite floor tiles. ~remove and replace grout from an oversized living space, kitchen, bathrooms, mud room and hallways including counter tops and breakfast bar. ~clean granite tiles that had layers of grime from previous owner. "sand and refinish wood floor and railings in loft. During the early stages of the work, we decided to make some big modifications in what we wanted to have done and Tomahawk just went with the flow. They were able to easily make the changes and come up with alternative ideas. Communication and reliability are crucial when working with contractors and we have to say that Ritchie answered each one of our questions, concerns, and requests no matter what time of day it was. We never felt neglected or worried about lack of communication. The work is being done beautifully with concern for details and it's obvious that Tomahawk takes pride in their finished labors. How can I write a review that would help you the reader? I can't. These guys are straight out crooks. I hired them. $800 deposit. Tomahawk floors did not show up as scheduled. They gave excuses mostly blaming me for the misunderstanding of the timeline and when they would start the work They lied. The job site is my summer camp. I close my camp on a schedule. I know to the minute once I decide to close it up. SO WHEN I MADE THE ARRANGEMENTS WITH TOMAHAWK I KNEW WHEN I WOULD BE WRAPPING THE CAMP UP FOR THE SEASON. They tried to say I was mistaken on the start date. Nope. Wrong...liars AND CROOKS. They have promised to return my $800 downpayment. This all started in early October . Then 29 text messages, laced with lies about returning my $ . The last text is dated December 11.Theres a lot of LIES in those text s they sent me. I'll see these idiots [yes, I went there] in court. 'Tomahawk floors' it reads on their business cards; no capital F for the word floors. that follows Tomahawk, red flag not correcting this. didnt see this until it was to late. If you hire them, good luck...like the luck the five star reviews had. My remodel is about finished. I now have time to write reviews and go to small claims court.
