After all was said and done I had a horrible dental abscess that caused the most excruciating pain that I have ever experienced in my life, and I blame this dental practice. Dr. Murphy spoke with me over the phone while I was in debilitating pain and had the nerve to suggest that he would "fit me in tomorrow for a trigger point injection". I blame this practice for being a poor representation of the dental community and whole-heartedly blame them for making me unnecessarily suffer because they have lost their way in patient care.

They wrote her a script to help deal with the pain and offered some people that she could follow up with for additional assistance. One of those people was able to see her within a day or two. While Valley Dental Health couldn't assist my wife with her specific issue, I appreciate how they brought her in and examined her in a timely manner, provided a temporary solution and offered some referrals that got her on the road to recovery.

Afterwards, Dr. Fishman had an adjustment to make in her routine that will save time and effort in the future. Before my retirement I had occasion to observe many "busy professionals" criticize assistants. I was so impressed how, in the most gentle, polite yet serious and non-intimidating manner Dr. Fishman accomplished this, that I felt compelled to mention it here. My initial interactions with Dr. Sirius were positive, and I developed a professional relationship with him due to his reputation as a prominent and respected dentist in the field, as well as my status as a police officer. However, I was disappointed to discover that Dr. Sirius informed me that the amount of work I required might exceed my dental coverage, which could result in additional expenses. Despite expressing my concern about surpassing my dental coverage, his team continued to schedule appointments for me to receive treatment, even though it was clear that I had surpassed my limit. This ultimately resulted in my incurring a debt of over $700, which left me feeling disheartened. I believe that Dr. Sirius and his team had the responsibility to inform me clearly and transparently that my upcoming procedure would not be covered by my insurance. As a result, I was left feeling as if I did not matter to the practice, and I now have a new dentist who prioritizes open communication and always informs me if a procedure will be covered by my insurance before treatment. I have not been to Dorsey Family Dentist since June of 2024 and I had no intentions of going back. There were many issues with the new dentist that took over the practice. There was a lack of communication, billing issues and multiple visits to correct issues with my night guard and crown/implant. The old practice (Dr. Cook) would have did it correct the first time. Again, It is very strange that he took the time to type a letter to inform me that I could no longer be a patient and I have not been to this office since 2024.

My first appointment was supposed to be for intake - Xrays, etc. - and a cleaning. They only did the Xrays and rescheduled me for the cleaning. Unprofessional start, but whatever. Then today I arrived to my 2pm appointment on time and the "cleaning" started at 2:50pm. Annoying, but it's a dental appointment. Not a huge deal. Now, onto the torture. Right off the bat Dr. Nicole Stewart-Joseph was incredibly passive aggressive, mocking me for using the napkin they put around your neck to spit out some excess mouthwash the dental assistant gives you. Then tells me alright I'm going to be cleaning your gums and it's going to hurt. Weird, but ok sure it's always a little uncomfortable. Then she proceeds to absolutely obliterate my gums with undeniably excessive force using the needle hook tool, while yelling at me to stop moving. I'm not squirmy at all with pain, but this was unbearable and I couldn't help but keep reflexively flinching - and all the while she's yelling "I warned you, I warned you!" You should know I'm a 35 year old male who's had 1-2 cleanings every year since I was a child. I know what a cleaning feels like. So at this point I'm like what is actually happening right now, and try to mumble to let her know we need to take a break. She continues without hesitation, yelling at me to stop talking, stop moving, and that it's my fault for not brushing my gums well enough. I brush my teeth *and gums* twice every single day. I've actually been told in the past I brush my gums TOO hard and had to dial it back in the past. So, my gums are more than tough enough for a regular cleaning. I know what it feels like to have a painful cleaning because you haven't brushed or flossed enough - this was absolutely not that. So 10 minutes into this "procedure" I'm now choking on my own blood and spit because she's not even suctioning anymore, just yelling at me. So I had to physically get out of the chair, remove the napkin necklace, and speedwalk out of there like I was escaping a Game of Thrones torture scene. Absolutely insane. I'm home now still shaking in disbelief this happened. There is absolutely no reason a cleaning should be THAT painful - all while a medical professional is yelling "It's your fault!" and "I warned you!". Spare yourself and find a different dentist.

Ignoring the fact that you tell them you only have an hour for the metered parking ( after they tell you over the phone that there's plenty of free street parking it's on a super crowded section of Charles street). Had a bunch of homeless people on the steps outside you get to step over too. Then they charge you 15 dollars for osha fees I've never paid at any clinic ever - it leads one to think the office isn't doing good as they say they are - they also said that they'd be getting me in by around 3 - it was 320 after I came by fifteen minutes early to do paperwork for my first time with them.
