I know you are busy and may not always have the full picture with multiple employees and patients. I had a wonderful first visit with as a new patient during my first appointment. I really appreciated Dr. Truesdale taking the time to talk to me about my dental issues from a wholistic approach and I even vocalized that to her during my appointment. I scheduled my appointment for fillings and came in for my second appointment for the procedure. My appointment was at 9:40am. I walked in at 9:35 am and filled out my paperwork and was not seen until about 10:20am. I believe my procedure was started around 10:30. The delay was not ideal but I'm generally pretty understanding when it comes to doctor's offices and the domino effect of delays with one patient effecting the rest of the day so I was not too bothered. The procedure itself was brief, which I appreciate because I had to rush back to work afterwards. I then went to the front desk to pay my copay and I requested a quote for a night guard. The woman at the desk notified me that she had "provided me a quote already" and seemed very impatient. She then told me the price and it was out of my budget ($300 out of pocket) so I told her I would hold off for now. She had me pay my copay for the fillings, gave me my receipt, and as I was about to leave she said "oh wait there's an outstanding balance on your account for another $60 for counseling. Since you talked about your TMJ during your last appointment and your insurance doesn't cover counseling." I did not argue, as I was a little shocked and my mouth was still very numb from my procedure. I said nothing and swiped my card. This interaction made me uncomfortable. I was not given a choice as to if I wanted "counseling" or not and I have never had a dentist charge me for this before. I would really appreciate a heads up so I can opt in or out of a service. I have a very tight budget and this extra $60 makes it difficult for me to get gas this week for my car. I then walked out of the office to my car and looked in my mouth. I had metal residue on multiple teeth from the removal of my old fillings. I know this is not technically harmful but I didn't want to swallow that. Taking a few seconds after the procedure to rinse/ brush off my teeth would have really been appreciated. This experience left me feeling rushed out, undervalued, and taken advantage of. Not to mention, I found a new dentist, same insurance and they quoted me only $150 out of pocket for my mouth guard. That's half the price that Innovation Dental quoted me. They also billed codes to my insurance for "oral surgery" when I got my fillings and that is still up for debate on if it was appropriate. I have my insurance company looking into it. I would not go back here. Between the wait times and shady charges, I was left unsettled. read more

Let me start by saying that Dr. Truesdale and her staff offer a very pleasant and professional environment. I never really ever experienced any discomfort or pain in the chair. However, the billing causes migraines to say the least. I was advised that I needed two fillings replaced and advised that my copay was $31. I agree to get the work done and pay the requested 1amount. When I call back to book an appointment for my next sevice, I'm advised that my co pay was actually $245! Now, I get that the initial quote was an estimate, but damn, they were WAY off. Furthermore, after speaking to the insurance company, i could've been given options and could have made a decision for myself. This has been the second time that I've experienced this sort of confusion. But the team worked with me to reach a resolution before. There has to be a more accurate way to offer realistic estimates. After I complete my bridge work which is estimated to be $1100, I hope that I dont get a subsequent bill for $5000. It's sad, because this office is cool, but I have to move on. read more

I have NUMEROUS CONCERNS about this dental practice. After changing insurances and not seeing a dentist for about a year I scheduled an appointment as a new patient at Innovation Dental for what I thought was a standard new patient visit (x-rays, exam, cleaning). After taking x-rays the dentist (Valentine) examined my teeth for no more than 2 minutes and pronounced that I would need a deep cleaning (2 visits with scaling with local anesthesia) and that the front desk would set me up with a treatment plan. The dentist also stated that I had 6 cavities that would need to be filled. They proceeded to take additional x-rays for about 30 minutes which were supposedly needed for the "deep cleaning." When I checked out at the front desk I learned that the "deep cleaning" was an elective procedure that would cost me over $200 because my insurance would only cover about 50%. I called back later and asked to schedule the fillings only and a regular cleaning. I was told that because of my "treatment plan" and "oral care" I would not be allowed to have a regular cleaning until after the "deep cleaning" was completed. Later that day I called a different practice and scheduled a cleaning for the following day. The dentist at the new practice thoroughly examined my teeth and was SHOCKED and CONCERNED that a supposed legitimate dental office would recommend a scaling treatment based on my teeth. The dentist stated that the amount of tartar was completely normal for not receiving a dental cleaning in over a year and that a scaling procedure with local anesthesia was completely UNNECESSARY. The dentist also saw NO SIGNS OF CAVITIES. Avoid Innovation Dental and their UNETHICAL DENTAL SCAM. read more

It had been years since I had visited a dentist (shame on me). After twice meeting Dr. Truesdale and viewing her practice on line I decided that this looked like a great place to start my dental care. What a great move. As stated in earlier posts, Dr. Truesdale has an incredibly comforting "bedside manner" and this gave me the confidence to continue working with Innovation Dentistry. I used to like this practice, but my visit today was uncharacteristically awful! If you want to understand and price out your options for expensive dental work, this is not the practice for you! Firstly, it's a little hard to find, it is inside the Sutton Place apartment building, that's kinda inconvenient. However, this is truly the best dentist I've ever had, I want to be her friend lol! I love Dr. Truesdale's attentiveness and calming energy. The office isn't the most modern but either way, if you care about good service then this is a great option in Baltimore. I don't have to concern myself about whether this care provider has a Black Lives Matter sign in the window, or wonder where they stand on issues that directly impact my health and best interest, because this is a Black owned healthcare provider and I love that! I've also had the best experience with my cleanings from the hygienist (I forgot her name but I will edit this and add it later) she's amazing, so aside from the receptionist who can be misinformed and a little all over the place, the staff is so accommodating and genuinely caring. read more

Dr. Dana is such a breath of fresh air. I had an appointment because my crown came out. She was patient and explained all of my options, even referring to video in order to provide a clear demonstration. She has excellent bedside manner. I have already recommended her. Great care. The name, "Innovation Dental" is on point. I was able to book my appointment and fill out forms in advance of my visit. I also like the option for later appointment times. Dr. Truesdale is amazing! Disclaimer: I have only seen her once, and I took my husband to her once. Still, I got the same impression from both visits. First of all, I love her vibe. She has a very calming presence and manner of speaking - particularly helpful when you're a dental patient. But the time she took during my appointment to sit with me, explain everything to me, and educate me as a patient is what truly makes her stand out from any other doctor (yes, all doctors, not just dentists) that I've been to. It was apparent during and after my appointment that she cares about her patients' oral health. I would recommend her without hesitation! Her hygienist (or tech, not sure what the proper title is), Olga, was also extremely nice and informative.
