I had a really disappointing experience at Tommy Bahama - Whalers Village. The employees were extremely rude, and this hasn't just happened once -- I've had multiple occasions where staff made very unkind comments while I was trying on swimsuits, saying things about how they didn't fit right or didn't look good on my body. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. I've also noticed that younger shoppers get profiled and followed around the store, even when they're clearly interested in buying something. The atmosphere feels unwelcoming and uncomfortable, and I've actually left the store because of how I was treated. After shopping at these locations, it has really broadened my perspective on the attitude of the employees here -- and honestly, it has made me not want to support the brand at all. Customer service should make people feel confident and respected, especially when shopping for something as personal as swimwear. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here. read more

Loveeee happy hour here at Tommy Bahama! Their Mai Tais quell your thirst for Hawaii in a glass. The Mahi tacos (I prefer them not blackened; fish this fresh should be allowed to shine) have several good chunks of fish that's balanced with some slaw. Was looking to get another pair of Maui Jim's for my wife, but as soon as we walked in, there was a male sales associate that got his eyes trained on me and my oldest. Maybe a little bit of racial profiling here? Jokes on them, I can buy up half the store in cash, no sweat. Needless to say, we walked out not buying anything after a few minutes, a very unpleasant and uncomfortable few minutes for me, my wife, and our kids. read more

The store itself is located within the Whaler's Village mall, which in itself, quite upscale. Be sure to get your validation while shopping, as parking can be quite expensive. read more

Worst Customer Service EVER! I have purchased my clothes from Tommy Bahamas FOREVER. I have shopped at Tommy Bahamas from Hawaii to California since the '90s, spent thousands of dollars, and always was treated with respect. Until Saturday, October 1st, when I came across the store manager in Hawaii, Lahina, Ariel, she was the definition of disrespect. Story: I was returning a few dresses I had purchased for my wife because one was falling apart at the seams, and she now did not want the other dress. From my past experience, I knew Tommy always backed the quality and workmanship of their product, and this dress was separating at the seams. Then I met Ariel, I explained I did not have the receipt because we never intended on returning the dresses until we discovered a quality and workmanship issue. She immediately threw the dress back in my bag and told me she would not accept this return or the other dress in which I had the tag. I again explained we threw away the receipt because we did not intend on returning the dress until later we found out the seams were separating. We both became elevated, so I just took my merchandise and left. I got to my car and was so upset I promised myself never to shop at Tommy's again! Once I felt better, I realized there are other Tommy Bahamas in Hawaii, I would just go to another TB and see if they would return my merchandise. If they would not, then it would be a store policy that I would have to respect or go somewhere else to shop. Within 2 minutes of walking into the next TB, my issues were addressed, and store credit was given. No hassle, no problem, no attitude, and with a smile. What I realized is that as a Manager, Ariel had a choice. A choice to remember she is an example to others and a leader of her team. Ariel had a choice, either to treat people like crap or treat them how she would want to be treated if the shoe was on the other foot. As a manager, she had a responsibility and obligation to treat customers not by how she personally feels but with the Tommy Bahama culture of respect, kindness, quality, and with a smile. She did not make the right choice and I will never return to this store. Take care read more

I have been coming to this particular store in Whalers Village for well over a decade and even consider it a 'must do' while vacationing in Maui. But WOW, was this a shocking experience that really made me think twice about every coming back. Let me explain...my wife, who happens to be a little on the darker side was looking at some Maui Jim sun glasses when one of the stores sales associate came up about three feet behind her and just observed her. The associate did not ask my wife if she needed some help or even let her presence be known. After watching this for a moment or two I came up to my wife and told her she had a little friend behind her, at which point the sales associate made this spontaneous statement, "its company policy to supervise customers near the sun glass rack." Funny, I thought it was security's responsibility to supervise customers and sales associates job to provide customer services? I then notice another larger sales associate standing at the front entrance of the store facing directly towards us with his back to entering customers. Without a doubt, my wife was being profiled as a potential shoplifter and man it felt disgusting. Even more smelly, I tried to talk with the store manager about the incident two days later but she was to busy bolstering about how the stores had just made $11,000 is sales. After I heard the comment I provided her with some free business advice and told her to keep her voice down and that company finances should remain confidential. I then asked her where does she keep the 11k in cash and she said affirmatively it's credit card sales only! Bottom line, there is a way to treat customers with service and still maintain a presence to prevent theft without making the customer feel like they are being supervised like inmates on a prison yard. I expect more from this brand. read more

This review is for the restaurant, but we do love their silk shirts! We happened upon this location while looking for a place to eat when everything was so booked and long lines. You order at the counter, seat yourself and they bring the food to you. There's lovely (clean) outside seating and a wonderful singer on a Friday night. We ordered some Mai Tai's that were outstanding (better than others we've had here). 10 stars for the friendliness of the staff, starting with the young girl taking our order, to the young man delivering our food, and what we think was the manager who was about one of the nicest humans we've ever encountered. He went out of his way, climbing over the wall to get a picture for us, and so friendly!! The food came out fast, we had appetizers, salads, and a panini, and everything tasted great! We would definitely return here, it was a great overall experience between ambiance, food, and service! read more

I walked all around the store and came across two employees, a male who was working a sale with a couple and a female who was just standing around. Neither of them greeted or even acknowledged my presence. In fact, the male made me feel like I was in his way as he made his way to the register to cash out the couple. You would think that they would have a larger store when located in paradise, but it has enough stuff to empty out your daily ATM limit anyway. Nice helpful staff that appears to use local retirees makes it an nice experience. Unlike their competitors around the corner. I enjoy my TB wardrobe and so does the wife. We needed to get a pair of shorts for my husband, to replace the ones he'd forgotten to bring but had selected to wear to our friend's wedding. Swim trunks just wouldn't do for the occasion :) So we went to Tommy Bahama, thinking we'd find something a little bit more elegant than the trunks, but still casual and light. And we did, we found some very nice black linen-ish (probably synthetic, honestly, but breatheable and with great texture) shorts. The 5 stars, though, is for the gentleman who made conversation with us there, joked about giving us the honeymoon suite of dressing rooms, and regularly checked in with us. Truly amazing service. Their clothing is obviously quality and the selection is great either for the island or home, where ever it might be. But what sets them apart is the staff. Led by store manager Dallas the could not be more helpful, gracious and accommodating. They set the standard on how customers should be treated. Went to the store on Jan 9th, there was a white lady employee sweeping leaves out the door (it was a very windy day so leaves had blown in), as we walked by she got frustrated and said, "You know what- this is a job for the little Filipino girl." Then she walked away. I don't know if the white lady was a manager or coworker to the Filipino employee but I bet the Filipino employee has a name. She probably prefers to be called by her name instead of being referred to as "the little Filipino"[with a tone of inferiority] when being asked to do the low cast jobs the hands of this lady were too good for. This Tommy Bahama by far has the best customer service. My husband and I shop here often.The staff takes the time to start fitting rooms for us and they assist us if we need other sizes. The selection is updated often, so if you see something you like, you better grab it! Also, on a side note- try the candles! They smell incredible and make amazing gifts! read more
