They first thing i noticed was the smell of the building. It made us not want to eat anything. Secondly, the pizza was not hot when it was brought out to us. When I asked the waitress to bring me some marinara sauce, she asked if i wanted the "sweet sauce". So i tried it... When she brought it out it was cold, cold as if it were in a refrigerator. Who wants to put cold pizza sauce on their pizza?. She also did not specify that the "sweet sauce" was not a type of marinara sauce(which, i asked her for marinara). So i asked her to get me some marinara & it was only slightly warm(the cup it was in was hot,but the sauce was only a little warm). She also took her sweet time getting this for me. Overall, the pizza was lacking in flavor. Both myself & the person i was with had to add salt,pepper,everything on the table to it. Moral of the story, It just wasn't good,flavorful food. read more

Great pizza but they need to up their beer selections on draft. My favorite pizza is the Luna Rosa. They also have a wonderful buffalo breadstick appetizer. This place is very popular and the wait can be long at times. This place is a Hammond icon and many people enjoy what they offer. read more

Update: Weve been back to Tommys twice in the past 5 mo. Service was top notch, even on a busy thursday nite. The pizza and calzones were very comparable to "the good ole days" . Happy to say at this point Tommys is back in rotation. My heart aches to write this review. Years ago when we moved to Hammond from metairie, we frequented both tommys pizzas quite a bit. Why not? It was the most unique, delicious, flavorful pizza in the USA. We reached this conclusion because we always took our out of town guests here for pizza. Folks from VA, Tx, PA, even NY- ALL said tommys was the best pizza they've ever had. That's serious testimony. fast forward to today. Unfortunately, we no longer hold that sentiment. In the last 2 years, we've noticed the service and food quality have both gone off a cliff. So much so that we've agreed to put tommys on the shelf for now. My favorite restaurant in Hammond, and my first stop every time I come back to town. The Bayou Breadsticks are a must-have. Past that, I usually get a personal pizza with alligator sausage, basil and sweet sauce. Love it. Plenty of other great options, as well. Plus, great draft beer selection. Went last night 4/17/19 - @ 4pm - there were 3 tables with patrons seated- it was my wife and I and we had 3 more people 15 minutes behind us to meet us here. We were refused to be seated until our whole party was there. I offered to be seated at a table for 2 until our other 3 arrived and was refused. We called our other 3 who were 10 minutes out and decided to go to Brady's . We spent 150.00 at Brady,s that would have gone to Tommy's. Horrible - Horrible - Experience !! Wow! My sister had been telling me about this place but our tastes aren't always the same. I finally had the chance to try it our and all I can say to her is thank you. I started with fried artichoke and it didn't disappoint. This was my first taste of the delicious sauce. The artichoke were nice and crispy. Next on to the pizza. At my sister's recommendation I went for the plain old pepperoni and boy am i glad I did. The sweet sauce greatly complimented the salty pepperoni and the amount of cheese was perfect. This place is awesome. We had a long wait on a Saturday night. They were very busy. Lots of large parties. We so lots of people get takeout. The atmosphere is neat, but loud. We have a child with a peanut allergy. The host went right away to the kitchen and manager to inquire on this for us. The staff were on top of their jobs and very friendly. I got a hand tossed pizza with Alfredo sauce, grilled chicken, mushrooms & green peppers. It was awesome. We all got 10" pizzas. Get this size if you want leftovers for the next day (which we were thrilled about). The 8" pizza is the size for a personal pizza. MY husband got the Luna Rose pizza that has all the different meats on it. He also got the house sweet sauce. He loved it. I tasted it and it is really sweet. It was not for me. They also have a regular pizza sauce. You will need to let them know which sauce you prefer. My daughter got the kids spaghetti. It came with the biggest meatball I have ever seen! Portions are large. Prices are great. Service was great. We live an hour drive away, and we are ready to go back! read more

We had the Buffalo wings and Buffalo cheese breadsticks for an appetizer... Out of this world. So good. My wife is from upstate New York and is very familiar with wings and even she gave her approval here! Jumbo size chicken wings fried to perfection, nice and crunchy, with a hot sauce complimented with just enough garlic. Buffalo cheese sticks were good as well. For our entree, we ordered a small pepperoni and mushroom pizza with their staple sweet sauce. The sauce is a little different I must say, and sweeter than I anticipated, but good nonetheless. Definitely different, but in a quirky sort of way. The atmosphere is fun and lighthearted and the staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. read more

I am not sure what has happened over at Tommy's, but our most recent experience was unacceptable! I called in our order at 7:00 pm. I ordered the Luna Rosa and the bayou breadsticks. I always ask what's the wait time before ordering, and Hallie informed me that it was an hour to an hour in a half wait. We were hungry, but we agreed and continued with our order. She told me that the order would be ready at 8:15. We were just sitting around waiting for the time to pass to pick up the food, so we decided to head to Tommy's. We arrive at 7:50. It took everything to even get recognized by a bartender. Once I was finally acknowledged, she promptly brought out the check and the order. When I received the order, both were lukewarm at best! I mentioned this to the bartender and she just shrugged her shoulders and gave me the confused look. I just took the order and heated it up in the oven. This was absolutely not ok! I can only imagine how cold the pizza would have been had we waited until 8:15, as instructed, to pick up the order. The breadsticks tastes like cardboard now. The pizza was just okay, and we had to fish for tomato sauce. That visit alone was enough to steer us away for a while. Try Commodore's first. read more

Just left Tommys Pizza. Where I waited over 2 hours for a to-go order that I was told would be ready in 45 minutes. The restaurant was not that busy. There was no wait to be seated and there were empty tables throughout the restaurant. The wait for your food is unacceptable. I was told it would be 45 minutes which I thought was borderline excessive. But over 2 hours for cheesebread and 2 lasagna plates is unacceptable! read more

As a SELU student, I've eaten at Tommy's and ordered out for years now. Never really had a bad interaction (though I'd heard stories and some complaints from others) until recently. In addition to the long wait (30+min for an appetizer during slow-mod crowd), I ordered a vegetarian pizza which the kitchen staff proceeded to top with chicken. No idea why they'd do this, the pizza is literally called the vegetarian and it wasn't requested. I had it sent back and was told it would be another ten minutes for the new one. Waitress was rude about it and avoided interaction and slammed drinks on the table after. The replacement pizza is brought to our table about 20min later, and the dough was RAW. Less than half the amount of toppings on the previous pizza (the same "vegetarian") and the pizza was falling apart it was so raw. You couldn't even use the spatula to scoop it on the plate without it collapsing. The manager was kind and removed the pizza from the ticket and offered a third one to take home free of charge, but I wasn't interested in whatever abomination the kitchen staff would turn out for the third time at it. Tommy's has always been my go to place since my Freshmen year in the dorms, but I can't say I'll return; I've heard too much negativity about the place (including from previous employees!) and after this experience, I'll find somewhere else to patronize. read more

Awesome food. Great pizza & the best burgers in Hammond (sorry Mariners yours are good but not the best). Get the burger on French bread. Chicken strips tossed in buffalo sauce dipped in ranch dressing, homemade chips. Its always hard for use to choose between Tommy's and La Carreta. Love this place!! read more

New to town and looking for all the new spots that'll be on my regulars list. This place is top of the list. EXCELLENT service from the bar tender, good beer selection and top notch food. They actually have some interesting,not just normal pizza joint offerings. I immediately noticed that they use fresh ingredients which is a big plus for me. They sealed the deal when they told me they also have live music. They would have 5 stars if it weren't for that dam sweet pizza sauce! I get it though, it's different and probably has a lot fans. Came here around 2 on a Monday and ordered a salad with grilled chicken. It took 35 minutes and the restaurant was literally dead! There were probably three other tables. I used to think that I love this restaurant but I no longer like it at all. they completely told us to leave the restaurant after we ordered our food and said we had to leave because one of my guest did not have their ID. Clearly old enough to drink And was even serviced at the bar while we waited for a table that took almost an hour to get prior to getting the table. they wanted us to take the food to go then they put a gratuity on the ticket when we were all going to take the food to go so we're not service that all . We asked for it to be taken off and it was . Like another reviewer said, Tommy's On Thomas' food is either ok or delicious. Their atmosphere is good, especially in the evenings when business picks up a bit. Their waitstaff and bartenders are always friendly. Their alfredo with fried chicken is my favorite dish, brought to your table in a huge, deep bowl with gigantic pieces of juicy, seasoned, crunchy fried chicken breast on top. Their pizzas are very unique, but I am not a fan of their sweet sauce so I usually order one with the zesty alternative. Their gritalian salad is not to miss, full of olives and feta cheese. Their beer selection is one of the better ones in Hammond, with many local favorites and classics on tap. read more

I've grown up on Tommy's Pizza. My dad used to take me to the original Tommy's across from trey yuen regularly...at least once a week. When I was a kid, I'd match my daddy's brew with my own root beer out the bottle. At Tommys on Thomas, I always order a bitter yet strong pitcher of Abita Andygator on tap (one of the only venues that offer this btw) Their signature sweet sauce has been coursing through my bloodstream for decades, and I never grow tired of its addictive flavor. I ALWAYS order at least one extra sauce on the side. More than reasonable prices... and the atmosphere is jovial and friendly, with good prompt service. I have never left any type of food review however after last night I feel I will. I've been going to Tommys since the original location on Morrison blvd. Mind you the pizza is great and the server I had last night was kind considerate and apologetic for other patrons and managements inability to control their behavior. This is how she makes a living. Tommys has gone down its dirty and I suspect the kitchen is foul. The dishes were dirty the drinks had things floating in it. The bathroom was dirty and one stall was out of order not to mention you could slide on the floor from the grease. WHERE S THE OWNER.
