Comics are their bread & butter. New comics, limited amount of wall comics. Bin comics are 2 bucks, not much if any from the 70's or older, sprinkled with some 80's comics but mostly from the 90's & the 2000's. There is a dollar bin further back of the store as well. They also sell comic supplies (bags, boards & boxes) at reasonable prices. Pretty large selection of trade paperbacks & graphic novels. They do offer a pull list at discounted rates. They also sell cards, sports & other entertainment related cards. Plenty of toys, statues & busts are showcased & available for sale. Parking is limited in the neighborhood. Nearby buses are 141, 93 & 41, 188 during weekdays. The 139 bus on Pie-ix is only 2 & half blocks east from the store. St-Michel metro is only a ten minute walk from the store or quicker if you grab the 141 which stops by the metro.

First time i went there was on comic book day and got free comics then went to the back and got 1$ comics. One of the best days! They usually stock on tuesday and all the great comics are usually gone by wednesday night. And if you ask they can order more or the comic you want. I love this place. The shop is small and the staff didn't look up when I came in. They spoke to the regulars and chastised a customer for opening a bagged back issue but it was otherwise silent. They have the comics on racks separated by companies but no New Release section for monthly comics. It made browsing kind of difficult. I bought a trade paperback, a reprint floppy and a monthly issue of a new series. The tpb shelves were packed too tight in some places so there were pressure points on some of the books. I did appreciate the amount of ABSOLUTES and oversized hardcovers, though. Overall, I would go back again but I don't know that I would go out of my way.

I typically make online purchases, but with ONCE UPON A TIME TOYS, how could I avoid it? I love the store name, and it was right there in front of me in quaint, charming Stowe, VT, so I went in. There were a great many unique toys, games and children's gift ideas at this store, but it was overwhelming to me. The sales associate was very friendly, so I asked her what she'd recommend for a 1 year old girl and something "Spiderman" for my 4 year old grandson. She immediately presented me with a cloth doll, and a little boat with Spiderman in it that when wound up in water (like in a bathtub), it would zoom across the water. I took them both !! My granddaughter was interested for a few minutes and moved on to something else because she's only 1. I'm quite certain the little doll will have greater appeal to her as she gets older. My grandson was soooooooo taken with his Spiderman boat that he broke it before getting to test it out in the actual water. He's 4, and listening to directions is not part of his skill set yet, lol. Regardless, if we're ever back up in Stowe, VT, I'm sure we'd return to this store to see what else we could find for my grandchildren !! Great little store with lots of unique toys for kids !!
