Tom and is crew landscaped my whole backyard in 2005. This included removing old (except for a few shrubs that I wanted to save) and installing sod, trees, shrubs and a unlock patio. They did a great job in plus 90 degree heat. This year (6/2021) I had Tom and crew out again. This time to install a new tree, shrub, mulch, remove 4 bushes that save din 2005 (should have had them removed then) and to seed over an area that needed repair. Again, hot and humid, but the crew pushed forward and did another great job. When you are doing your due diligence I highly recommend calling Tom's Creative Landscaping of Sugar Grove to get quote. We just had a large project completed by Tom and his crew. It involved a lot of planting, leveling of the yard, brick paver work and installing another drain that attached to our existing drain. We are completely satisfied with his work and the communication with Tom. He estimate was incredibly detailed and he listed individual items separately. We added things as it started and he was more then accomidating. Ironically, when Tom came out to give us an estimate I thought he looked familiar. Later that week I was shredding old statements and bills from the house and I found the old landscaping bill from 2002 after we did a 2nd story addition. It was from Tom. Completely by chance we ended up with the same landscaper 18 years later. We were happy back then and happy now. We just underwent another house remodel and a front porch addition and our yard was basically dirt. It looks so good- I highly recommend Tom. read more

I had a small project and Tom was one of the few landscapers that returned my call and scheduled an estimate promptly. After I accepted his bid, he was able to get started almost immediately. His crew built a beautiful set of brick and stone steps with a sitting wall and a place for potted plants outside of my back door. They were very respectful and friendly and had the work done in 3 days. There was one miscommunication about the design that Tom got straightened out right away with the crew, and I was pleased that I did not need to handle it by myself. My only disappointment was that two rosebushes that had to be moved were left out in the sun and did not survive. Other than that, it was a great experience and I love how much better my back entrance looks now. read more

Our back yard used to flood so bad every spring that no grass could grow there. We actually had two ducks that made their home in the little pond that formed. Several contractors proposed different solutions, but Tom's idea to put in a French Drain seemed the most practical. He did a terrific job for a very reasonable price so we asked him to come out again this year to bury our sump line. He not only buried the line, but regraded the slope of the lawn to facilitate the flow of water out of our yard. We are so grateful. read more

Tom came by to give us a quote and when he did, he checked things out, gave some ideas and discussed it with us, then went to his car and drew up a plan and came back in to discuss and give pricing. Tom's price was great in comparison to the others we received especially considering the work he was doing. (He took out our old brick paver patio and put a new one down and degraded our lawn.) We had our first major landscaping job last summer after buying our new house. 3 trees removed, edging, mulching, remove sucker trees, trim trees/shribs, and some flower planting. Little did we know and trusted Tom and his crew to get the job done as discussed and promised. He removed a pine tree and did NO cleanup of the mess left behind, just threw seed on top of chunks of dirt and pined cones/needles. Threw seed over areas where fall leaves had built up, threw seed over areas that clearly needed top soil to level the area out. Seeded right over weeds, threw mulch (VERY thinly) right into flower beds on top of weeds. The edging was not as I asked, being a deep edge line to keep the mulch in. I too pointed that out and they said they would correct it. Never did. He too sodded an area that our dogs would do their 'business' in and didn't even pin it down so it was a slip in slide of sod everywhere. Planted a $500 Magnolia that flowered this spring with ONLY 8-10 flowers on the TOP only. Rose bushes dead, rose of Sharon's nearly dead. Grass is growing so sparsely after almost a year and the yard looks worse than before we hired Tom. Anything we pointed out we expected to be done in keeping in line with the outcome he said that wasn't in the price. We asked they move flagstone found behind the shed along the flower bed. We assumed when he agreed to do this, I would not mean literally, throw along the bed and partially into the grass. His worker spent half his time saying he wasn't asked to do that but I'll give you my business card and you can pay me MORE $$ and I'll do it on the side. After seeing the poor results and being charged for more plants/flowers than I agreed to I made Tom the offer. Dig out your plants and take them with or lower your price as I did not approve of your 'vision' you planted and charged ME for. I also complained as how poorly the bare muddy areas were seeded knowing grass would not grow if it were not cleaned up. He promised to come out and drop off seed and take a look at what I was clearly not satisfied with. Surprise surprise, he never did. We called him early this spring asking he come out and see the results of his $6000 job and we were not happy one bit. He said he would be out that day. We were hardly shocked at all when he never showed and has yet to return any calls. We have several landscapers come out and described what he did. ALL were in disbelief not only by the horrible work he did but the price which was almost double then ALL of them said they would have quoted. We are now paying a lot of money to have what he made a disaster of fixed.
