Went to the bar and was ignored by the bartender cause she was busy on her phone! Made eye contact but I guess that was not the way.

I would definitely come back!! Ask for Josh, he was the best bartender, very attentive and made the best shots. 10/10 experience.

Before my daughter's appointment nearby, we decided on Flippers Tavern for lunch…read more This place is quite different than many places in Lubbock, TX. When we walked in on May 19, 2026, the place was not too busy at around noon. Right away I noticed low lighting. Cool alternative, rock, and old R&B music playing in the background. A full bar. Pinball machines for tables. Lots of nostalgia in this place! Restroom was mostly clean. The food was okay. I wish there was a bit more flavor to everything. My daughter agreed. + The Damned Dog ($11) "All beef frank, house beef chili, cheddar, diced onions, and jalapeno crispies." This was good but the frank and chili needed more flavor. I opted for a side of house-made vegan potato salad (additional $1.50) instead of potato chips which really good. + The Sourpuss ($12) "Bratwurst, sauerkraut, pickle slice, crushed salt & vinegar chips, and queso fresco." My daughter enjoyed this with ketchup and mustard added and a side of smoked gouda mac. That mac was very tasty. We also noticed how crisp and spicy our Sprite and Dr. Peppers were. Loved that. I'd definitely go back again for a drink and maybe a sandwich next time. Ample lot parking.

This new…read moreplace not only boasts a shuffleboard, they have pool tables, a few arcade games, a gigantic stage (think Karaoke, Comedy and Music), LOTS of seating, good lighting, big screen wall-mounted TVs and we have not event talked about food or drinks yet. Listen up, this place is new (opened late Nov 2024) so they are still working out the kinks. I say this because there are two reviews on this place that mention negative things. IMHO I think thus far they are excelling and will only get better and better. We need to give them grace as they learn and grow. ***So please READ MY REVIEW and ignore the 1 stars.*** The food we ordered was tasty, affordable and came out quickly. Drinks for the entire table were on point. Shout out to Chet who will gladly curate a drink for you if you are not sure what you want. Oh and did I mention 237 is located inside? 237 is Speakeasy located inside of Soggy Dog (at this time 237 is open Thur-Sat nights). 237 has it's own vibe and drink menu. PRO TIP: Enter Soggy Dog through either of the double set of metal doors. Yes you are at the right place. I will take pictures of the entrance on my next visit.

The chips and queso were an appetizer but came out with the rest of the food. Queso was extremely burned so I asked for it to be removed from the ticket; instead, they replaced it with spicy broccoli cheese soup. Okra and fries were not cooked all the way through; seems hard to mess up food service frozen food, but here we are. The hot chicken sandwich was made with chicken so tough I couldn't cut it. The hot sauce was nice, the salsa was decent. My giant mug of beer was flat but at least it was cold. Overall: poor food, slow service. Was hoping for better.

It's this new thing, my friends and I like to do on Saturdays, all the cool kids are doing it too…read more It's fun and makes me feel great! Oh, you must be thinking of that thing, no, not that, but club-hopping. Haha! Yeah, everyone always tells me that Lubbock is boring, but it's only boring to the students who don't know how to have fun with limited means. Lubbock is exciting in its own personal way that it doesn't need to be compared to other cities for recognition. The Garden is like that in a sense, it has a laid-back atmosphere, no other club in the area is like it. On Saturday mornings during the Farmers Market, it is a nice chill spot to get out of the sun. Drink mimosas and a food truck on sight that sells breakfast burritos. At night, this place is great! A live band, food trucks, open bar, patio games, and picnic tables. Yeah, it's relaxed. Oh, and the music they play reminds me of my high school and younger days when I adored the rock alternative genre. My friends aren't fans of The Garden due to the music, but I don't care, I enjoyed my experience. I can't wait to go back!

There were patrons inside and the gates were open. My friend and i walk up and the gates security guy very rudely told us they were closed... No explanation. Nothing. Complete jack a** raising his voice. The bartender did peak around the corner and tell us they open at 10pm, she might be the only reason people come back. This place would be better off with consistent hours and marketing and well as a new gate guy.

I haven't returned to Mano Negra since it moved from its old location in Cactus Alley to the heart of Lubbock. Their old spot was very tight but had such an unadulterated charm that made the space feel special. The new location feels a lot more modern, but as its fanbase continues to grow, it needed more space to work with anyway. Inside, there's a huge wall of art and plenty of seating, and it feels like a place that doesn't belong in Lubbock. It feels so mid-city that it almost made me emotional. In the back lies their bar, where they serve their famed sangria, house-brewed beers, and other beverages. Their bartenders are super knowledgeable and will help you make the right choice. In the corner are a few arcade machines, including Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat II, Defender, and Pac-Man. There are also plenty of board games to pick up as well. As for the drinks, the Sunset Sangria and their Sandia Sangria I had were both exceptional. Good sangria hits like nothing I've ever had before. Mano Negra's new spot has a great deal of outdoor seating and patio space. If the inside gets too loud or too crowded, and if there's live music like there was when I went, it can get LOUD. The outdoor space offers a quiet escape and a great conversation spot on a cool night in Lubbock. The overall vibe and energy of Mano Negra are lively. The Brazilian students playing music in the corner brought out a new level of energy to the night, and I had a blast going here. I warn that their drinks are a little strong and the energy can get a little hot, so you may find yourself three drinks deep, unable to resist getting your dance on a little bit. Have a little fun with it. RIYL: Feeling A L I V E on a Friday night
