I own a small business, and I've worked with a string of tax professionals, from small one-person shops to more corporate firms. The Tonsagers are hands-down the best. They care, they are knowledgable, they understand the many complexities of my niche business, they are down-to-earth and easy to work with, and reasonably priced. I refer all of my friends there now. The issue with Tonsangers is, they have no issue leaving you stranded on an island. I've been a customer for 3 years. We went through an ownership change. I had a conversation with them about what things we can do to improve. They emphasized communication. I agreed. They neglected to communicate for 2 months and terminated service based on lack of communication. The ball was in their court and never communicated to us. Left us on an island during tax time now. Heidi is a rude, passive aggressive human being. She's very volatile and gets very defensive when you challenge her on her billings. Makes me think they're over charging and dishonest. Heidi guided us thru the steps needed to have everything in order, she handed us off to their accountants' side of their business, which is lead by John. John had the uncanny abilty to understand our questions and concerns, and answer in a very friendly & timely manner. Their quoted price matched the final cost, despite all the unexpected time that they had to spend on us during the switchover from our previous accountant to their firm, such as cleaning up a cluttered Depreciation Schedule that had to be converted from a hundred entry "scanned" file into an Excel editable format file. Tonsager Tax is incredible. John, or Jon, was very calm and relaxed and didn't rush our meeting. We were given a fair quote at the beginning and they stuck to the price. They made the process easy considering our taxes this year were a little complicated from us moving from Vermont to Minnesota. On a personal note it was the first time I have ever had someone explain taxes to me in a way that makes sense and it was the first time I ever understood what was happening. Typically I have had no idea why I either receive a rebate or have to pay taxes until this year. We're going back next year and I hope you go this year. read more
