I found out about Tonya through a couple pet photo events at the Healthy Spot near me. I was not able to go to those events, but I found out that she did private sessions which I thought would be a fun thing to do with my dog. We had originally planned to take photos with the Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop, but of course the fog was not cooperating that day, so we went to Plan B. Tonya took us over to the Palace of Fine Arts which was an excellent alternative! I had no idea what to expect, but Tonya was so good at making the whole process fun. We have attended multiple of Tonya's charity photo booths over the last 7 years. We loved her and how she was able to get incredible photos of our pups in such a short time frame. We finally hired her to do end of life photos for our beloved 7 year old rottie who had bone cancer. We were worried about Cooper's ability to participate, as we knew he was near the end of his life, but Tonya was patient and creative, and was able to get the most beautiful images for us to remember him by. Not only did she capture his multiple personalities in a yard that was in no way prepared for a full on photoshoot, she delivered above and beyond what we could have expected of not only Cooper, but of our entire family. We are so grateful for Tonya's grace, hard work, and flexibility, especially given our circumstances. She delivered beautiful edited images in such a short amount of time. Ok y'all. Our pup is the absolute sweetest, but he's such a ball of energy that getting him to stay still for photos is a real challenge. I mean, he just won't stop moving! When he was about 9 months old, I had a camera roll full of blurry pictures and was about ready to give up. Then, I stumbled upon one of Tonya's Photo Booth sessions and thought, "Why not give it a shot?" What we found out is that Tonya is part magic talent and part zen-like patience. I've gone to Tonya's pop-ups for the holidays for a long time. The first shoot was for the holidays at Holistic Hound. I had a dog reactive dog, Jonas, and I was worried about negotiating getting to the session and back to the car with other dogs around. Tonya managed everything so well, it took a lot of stress off of me. And Santa was pretty amazing, too. Jonas and I went back every year. We've had to juggle which sessions best suited him, and Tonya was very helpful in sorting that out. When Jonas got a little sister, Arwen, I was sure those sessions would be mayhem. Well... I wasn't far off the mark. LOL! Our sessions were pretty energetic and I was a bit stressed. Tonya worked her magic and every time we ended up with multiple pictures to choose from. When Arwen first came along, I'd been so happy with Tonya, that I booked an at-home session for Jonas' 8th and Arwen's 1st birthday (I thought an off-site location may be too challenging). She took an ordinary backyard and made it work, giving me the the best images I've ever had of the dogs. I ordered some framed prints, and they're beautiful. Jonas is gone now, and I have these images to keep him close. He truly adored Tonya (and so does Arwen). This year, Arwen and I had the pleasure of going to Tonya's new studio for the Valentine's shoot. Arwen was very curious about everything and didn't quite cooperate. I was worried that in the short time, we may not have gotten a good image. I was so wrong. Somehow, Tonya got one of the cutest images of Arwen on a pink background rocking a tutu. Tonya takes the periodic photos at our daycare location (Woof, in San Ramon) so we knew the quality of her work. I gave my wife a gift certificate for a pet photo session with Tonya. Before and during our session, Tonya really listened to what I was looking for, and worked with our dog and cat in a wide variety of locations, settings, and poses. She worked hard to get us what we were looking for, without any prompting during the session. Yes, her posed portrait work was stunning, but what brought me a lot of joy were the unposed, action shots of our dog frolicking in a nearby field, playing fetch with a tennis ball, and reacting to her squeaky toys. She responded well to the few inputs I gave her ("I want this in focus and these fuzzy...") but did not just wait for me to tell her what to do. She also explained what she was trying to do throughout the process to the level that I wanted. I am a bit of a photography geek, so I ate this up. Although she would have been happy to take family shots (with humans in the images), we opted to focus (no pun intended) on just the pets. Still, she got a few of me playing fetch with our dog and they were poignant and touching. The proofs were gorgeous and there were a few I just fell in love with, both due to the subjects and for the artistry of the composition. There were no pressure tactics to try to upsell photo packages, and she was helpful when I had questions about how to order what I wanted. We met Tonya at an outdoor pet fair in Walnut Creek last year. She displayed beautiful photos of animals and we were immediately drawn to her booth. Wow! I just had some really great photos taken of me and my dog Angel to use for my holiday cards.
