This place was ok. It's a little converted house made into a restaurant. I typically love little mom & pop shops like this because it is good home cooked food. I read all about the street tacos and was ready to try them...not as great as everyone said. They were bland. The pico was flavorless and just left me wanting something more. The rest of the party was in agreement. We did have an issue with the hamburger bun for my grand daughters burger. There was a spot of mold on it. We caught it before she ate it. Tony (yes there is a real Tony) took care of the situation appropriately. He had just purchased the buns that morning. I have done the same thing bought something and in the same day it is molded or maybe even when bought so I did not hold him responsible. He removed the charge and offered an alternative. If you are hungry and need a bite to this is sufficient but pass it by if you want flavor. read more

Stopped here randomly on a road trip and boy we made a good choice! Excellent service, quick cooking, and really really awesome food. We got the tacos al pastor and chicken enchiladas and they were some of the best we've had anywhere, much less this unassuming spot. Seemed like lots of regulars came in too, and that is is much beloved. Will be back if we ever pass through again, but will always remember this meal! read more

Top notch street-type tacos with all the fixings - lime, cilantro, onion and some spicy salsa. Both beef and pork were seasoned perfectly, tender, delicious and the tortillas don't fall apart. Every time I'm in town for work I stop in and grab a burger. Not sure what the owners wife does with that meat but man she makes a great burger! Next time Im6in town I'm going to try the Carne Asada!! read more

We had low expectations judging from the outside of the building visual however, coming from Miami and eating from high end restaurants to dives we were blown away! I had the Fajitas and the wife had an enchilada and both were outstanding... and since we returned from Telluride, I can tell you that lunch was still far superior than anything we ate in the Village, and at a fraction of the cost! The food is great! The sign is faded and hard to read and the seating area is small, but the food makes it all worthwhile.

What a great find! Tony was friendly and authentic which just added to the finely tuned tastes of the food. Tacos Al Pastor were great! Very simple, but the rub on the pork and the roasted pepper salsa made this one of the best taco dishes I've come across. The pork green chile enchiladas were wonderful and not something I have found elsewhere. This will be THE stop for our travels between Denver and Crested Butte. read more

This place is one of them road side hole in wall places that shocks you! Looks like a cafe out of 70's but actually have amazing food! We visit Buena Vista all the time so we decided we wanted to try something new and after all the awesome reviews we were excited to make the drive down to try out Tonys. To our disappointment we didn't get to try because their doors were locked at 2 pm. Hours were posted online and directly to the left of the door clearly stating they were open till 4 on Fridays. Lucky for us we instead found a delicious new spot in Salida that we will definitely be visiting again instead of Tony's. read more

We moved to Colorado from Phoenix and were used to some very good Mexican food. We never figured we would be able to find Mexican food to compare here in the Salida/Poncha Springs area. However, we were wrong! Tony's has become our favorite place to go, especially on Thursday's when, if they can find chiles to their satisfaction, they make Chile Relleno's. Their breakfast steak tacos smothered in the Green Chile are AWESOME as well as their Tacos Al Pastor and the Carne Asada Tacos. The Posole they make on Saturdays is a delight. I have heard their hamburgers are really good, but, it is hard for me to get one when I love their Mexican food so much! I love this little family-run restaurant! Great easy Mexican. They close at 4 and we arrived at 3:55. They accommodated us nicely and didn't make a fuss that we walked in right before closing. We can here for a smaller bite to eat but left stuffed. The food was great and the service was wonderful. Defintiely not a place for the atmosphere but the food makes up for it! read more
