If you live in the 414 there's just no good reason why you should not have a 414 t-shirt, sweatshirt, flag, mug, etc! There's lots of versions of these items available- neighborhood, sports, etc are represented. It's a small store within the labyrinth that is the Marshall building but the guy who checked me out was really nice and it seems fairly priced for such an iconic items. read more

Among the most fun, creative, and clever t-shirts in town! The store is located on the 3rd floor (right across from elevators) of the Marshall building on Water & Buffalo in the Third Ward. Some of my favorites include the Milrockee shirt with the County Stadium beer barrel, #4 Retired in Wisconsin, and Cooler Near the Lake, where the shirt simply has a picture of a red cooler next to a picture of Lake Michigan! Have you seen the 414 caps around town? Those are from this store. I bought a 414 Milwaukee shirt today to sport for 414 Day next week, and beyond! Also, Fred is a really cool and down-to-Earth guy. He has a new product (Sreaming Viking) launching on April 17th for Gallery Night. Check it out! I forgot to mention, he's open Noon to 6:00 Tuesday thru Saturday, but sometimes he has to leave early, closer to 5 or 5:30, so call ahead first. Too Much Rock For One Hand is Too Much Fun to Hang Out At. Last winter, I gathered up a couple of starving artist college students and brought them to the Marshall Art Building during Art Gallery Night and Day last winter. We stopped in to visit Fred, who inspired both kids to think creatively about art as a means to support themselves. Mission accomplished. Fred is a just plain outright cool dude. He is infinitely relatable, personable and knowledgeable on all kinds of things. He is fun to talk to and his shop definitely has a music riff. Bright and well-lit, the space right across from the elevator on the third floor is a creative inspiration in and of itself. But it's the clothing he sells, that will keep you coming back for more. I recently bought his "414 Brewers" shirt with a drawing of the stadium. Talk about iconic. I have an event later this month that I need to wear that shirt at and look forward to breaking it out. I also own his "Miltown Hustler" t-shirt. I bought it last summer at his booth at Bastille Days at Cathedral Square. He will have shirts for sale at Summerfest, farmers markets and the like, as well as online. If you want to feel like a Milwaukee icon - stop in at his shop and pick something up already. This place has clever t-shirts, especially if you're looking for solid Milwaukee, Brewers, and/or Packers references. They can also be found at most festivals and are quite cheap. HOWEVER... I have ordered online with them twice and both experiences left something to be desired. The first time I ordered with them I got two ladies tees, different designs. I received a package in the mail (timely, right?!?) with a XXL men's shirt - wrong order! I sent it back and they sent me a package with the correct shirt designs, but one was the ladies' medium I had ordered and the other was a men's medium. I weighed my options and a 5-second cost/benefit analysis later had me deciding that it was too much effort and waste of my time to correct the order again. I kept the ladies tee and actually love the fit, but I sent the men's straight to Goodwill. The second time I ordered was just 8 weeks or so ago. I wanted a shirt for a friend of mine who was visiting from overseas. I made sure to order early so there was enough time for the shirt to arrive in time for my friend's visit and birthday. I received a call immediately (timely, right?!?) that the shirt in that size was out of stock, would I like another size? No, I would not like another size - people don't usually change body sizes due to the whim of a company's stock...at least not that I've heard. I told them I'd wait for the inventory to be replenished, which they assured me would be in two weeks. Three weeks came and went and my friend's arrival was imminent. I called to see what was up with my order. The person I spoke to said the company was currently at Summerfest. Not sure what that has to do with anything unless they shut down their storefront, online orders, and customer service just for Summerfest, but whatever. Summerfest has now come and gone, and I have yet to receive my order. My friend flies out on Sunday with no birthday present, even though I ordered it 8 weeks ago. I'm not even sure I want to go to the effort of getting my money back or trying (again) to remind them that they owe me product when it's too late. Yes, they have great t-shirt designs. His shop has everything you need to stand with this city and all it has to offer. You can find his tent at every major event in the summer months as well. Fred truly cares about each of his customers and has entertained me for hours on end when shopping for a new shirt (I own about 6 of his designs already!) However after multiple attempts to get ahold of them and being ignored almost a month I had to dispute my charges.
