They promise a "no-shame atmosphere" and compassionate care, which gave me hope. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite--confusing, painful, and emotionally distressing. From the beginning, I was repeatedly mistaken for another patient from one of their other offices. Because of this confusion, I was questioned and shamed about why I hadn't fixed my teeth sooner. When I explained I'm a single mom and couldn't afford the $8,000 estimate I'd previously received within the past year, I was told that was impossible and I must be wrong. But later, the updated treatment plan I received from this same office was over $12,000. The judgment and disbelief were humiliating. I opted for a more affordable plan--extractions and bridges--but even that process was mishandled. They took impressions for temporary teeth before removing my actual teeth, which meant they didn't fit. Still, the dentist tried to force them into place, causing a lot of unnecessary pain. To make things worse, staff openly gossiped about their co-workers in front of me and acted unprofessionally throughout my visits. Worst of all, at a follow-up appointment, a dentist pulled a piece of my jawbone out through my gums without any anesthetic. It was one of the most excruciating things I've experienced, and totally unacceptable. There was one dentist there who treated me with respect and compassion. In my opinion she went above and beyond. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff made me feel invisible, mistaken, and lesser-than--despite the clinic's promises to the contrary. If you suffer from dental anxiety and are seeking judgment-free, empathetic care, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience at Shamblott Family Dentistry was not just disappointing--it was traumatic.

Apparently, they just ask you to leave a good…read morereview right after your 1st visit when you can't really evaluate the quality of the work, only their snaky politeness. I am having so many problems with what Dr. Gendler done to my teeth and these photos were made within 1-2 years after his work: Low quality fillings that leak and break apart, unnecessary drilling to bill insurance on my tooth #4 (while ignoring cavity on another side of that tooth), implant on tooth 31 has crown that catches lots of food and despite numerous requests to redo it, he only trimmed my upper and neighbor teeth to make it "fit" which only made everything worse.. Another implant has a connection which my new dentist told me is no longer recommended because it has a high risk of micro-movement and micro gaps and irritates gums, exactly what happened to me. My new dentist and surgeon say the only way to fix it is to get a new implant with a morse taper connection, but removing the current implant can cause other risks too because it is placed into sinus and there may be problems with circulation in that area, and worse bone loss. For so long Dr. Gendler hid truth and confused me making me think something was wrong with me, like it was my personal reaction, or I just had allergy or gum infection left from previous tooth.. I've visited a number of specialists and they all told my gums are healthy.. Dr. Gendler tried to manipulate and confuse me making sure the statute of limitation passes which is short for dental problems - only 2 years. If Dr. Dendler told me truth earlier, it would be at least a little easier to fix it and wouldn't cause so much damage! But he only cared about his interests. Everything looks good only at the moment you walk from this office, but then have to deal with these problems. So thank you Dr. Gendler for all this dilemma! Now Dr. Gendler is also trying to harass me for publishing this honest review like it can cause injury to his reputation..Seriously? You caused injury to my health! How many more patients are being mislead or harassed to hide their reviews? I know a few people who have implants placed by Gender and now they also have pus coming out of implants or have crowns that fall off, but Dr. Gendler was manipulating and making them feel like something was wrong with them too: allergy, personal reaction, etc... just what he did to me for years. A lot more I could say but not allowed per release. It is sad and scary when you trust doctors with your and your loved ones health, but they treat you like this.

As someone who prefers female dentists, I love that the staff is all women. :) The team - Dr. Phillips, Julie, RDH, Kara, RDA, and the front desk staff - are friendly and thorough. The main reason this rating is 4 rather than 5 stars is that I felt they recommended work I didn't really need, specifically a crown. Dr. Philips recommended a crown on my bottom right molar where I had a root canal in 11/2017. I'm 8 years out from the procedure and neither the endodontist who did the root canal nor the 3 general dentists I saw between 2018-25 said I needed one. Though she said it's common practice to place a crown after a root canal to avoid the tooth from breaking, I'm reluctant to undergo a procedure on a tooth that has caused zero issues for 8 years. At first I thought she found something other dentists missed but later realized that 4 other dentists (endodontist followed by 3 general dentists) would have said something sooner if I really needed a crown. Other than the root canal, there was no abnormal findings clinically or on the x-ray that convinced me to follow Dr. Phillips' recommendation that I get a crown. Now, if I had a cavity, I would get that filled right away to avoid further decay. But when none of my previous dentists over the past 8 years told me I need a crown and I'm not having pain in that tooth, why create work when none is needed? She also recommended fixing a small chip on one of my front teeth and Invisalign from my bottom teeth, though both were cosmetic so I declined. By comparison, my previous dentist of 5 years NEVER recommended any of the above work. To her credit, Dr. Phillips wasn't pushy about getting the work done. When I asked if it's likely I'd lose the tooth over the next few months if I don't get a crown, she couldn't say. I know it's not always possible to predict medical/dental outcomes but her not knowing told me that I didn't have to make a decision right away and I'd likely be fine without the crown. If the recommendation for a crown was made because I had pain and/or a fracture/other abnormal pathology was found, I'd be more on board getting it, especially if I had been going to the practice for years and didn't need dental work beyond cleanings until now. But as a first time patient to the practice, having a procedure recommended for a tooth that hasn't caused pain or other issues for 8 years makes me question whether I truly need the crown or it's financially motivated. I moved back to my home state in late March so I cancelled the cleaning previously scheduled for April. If I were to see them again (as I want to move back to MN in a few years) and they recommended any dental work beyond bi-annual cleanings, I'd get a second opinion before agreeing to anything. However, I'd more likely find another dental practice that is more conservative in their recommendations, similar to the dentist I previously saw prior to moving to MN.

The dental hygienists I've had clean my teeth have all been skilled and are really good at accommodating the patients to be sure the experience is as comfortable as possible. One thing I really appreciate about the people I have worked with here (and from chatting with other patients) is that they aren't preachy or judgey about your teeth. I feel your thoughts, you haven't been in to a dental office in years and you're intimidated or maybe even embarrassed. Don't worry! Even if you haven't been to the dentist in years, go in and they'll get you started on caring for your teeth without all the lectures and shaming. Give them a try, I think you'll like them.
