I used Top Dog a few weeks ago for my move across state lines a few weeks ago. In the past, I've used another company, but was frustrated with service last time as well as additional surprises and charges, including an unmentioned "no credit card on sunday" rule. No problems like that here! I was given a firm quote and told that it would not change, and it didn't. The movers themselves were all great, taking care or my heavy and expensive furniture, delivering it as if it was their own. The move started and ended well within the expected time frame. My only complaint: I requested, and then called to confirm that the truck would include garment boxes and was assured it would. It didn't. This wasnt a huge issue in the end as they were able to use some crates to similar effect, but I did end up having to dry clean all my suits due to dust. At the end of the day, I'd use them again in a heartbeat. read more

Top Dog Movers are the best movers I've ever worked with. They're the fourth mover I've worked with in the past 20 years. They moved my mother's things from a house in Michigan to a small condo in the DC suburbs. The office staff were very polite and responsive. The movers were also very nice--and very careful with her things. My mother was concerned about her antiques, and they set her at ease. They arrived very promptly in Michigan, wrapped furniture very carefully, and moved it out efficiently--after protecting the floor with pads. They appeared with the truck at the condo right at 9am, as advertised, worked through a sweltering DC day, and remained polite and efficient throughout. It took us a long time to find a mover for this job many simply ignored our inquiries, and others failed to get back to us with a proposal, even after we requested it. One told us that they would keep the furniture in storage for 1-2 weeks for delivery, which was a deal-breaker. Top Dog delivered on all of their promises and made moving much less stressful than I anticipated. Their price was also much cheaper than the other quotes we received: $4K. The most expensive quote was $10.5K! We're very glad we went with Top Dog. read more

Our 25 mile move was totally stress free! Top Dog Movers are very professional and fast. As with any moving company, I would recommend getting an in home estimate prior to booking so they can view all your large items and boxes. This not only helps you get a more accurate quote but also allows for them to determine the appropriate number of movers and trucks to make the move as fast as possible. Woody, Frank, and Richard were on time and professional. They answered all our questions and astonishingly quickly hauled stuff from house to house. They were strong and organized during move. Even large, oddly shaped pieces we didn't think would fit were handled with care while being brought up stairs. They were also very fast and didn't miss a beat. There was one lower quality item that was damaged in the move and they were quick to show us and let us know. I called many companies in the area searching for a reasonable hourly rate. Top Dog gave us one of the best quotes and did a great job. While other companies would have gotten the job done, Top Dog did it fast, efficiently, and professionally. read more

*AMAZING* service: incredibly polite & honest movers. They were scheduled to arrive at my old apartment between 9 & 9:30 am, and they called when they were about 10 min away. They updated me about the move (how many more pieces/trips they'd have to take, etc) the entire time. Top Dog helped us out with our recent move to a new house. They arrived during the time I was told and after walking through the house they got right to work. They worked very efficiently and quickly, having my house loaded onto the truck in under 3 hours. Once at the new house they unloaded in just about 2 hours. They treated all of our belongings like they were their own. They wrapped all items that needed to be for protection and even put down runners throughout my houses to protect the floors and carpets. Used these guys for a move, won't do that again. They move like snails, they charge by the hour so you can figure it out. Damaged our dresser, scratched a lot of our furniture and we can't find the hardware that they took apart from our dining table...thanks They use people to work for them who are not professional movers, after talking to one of the guys he let me know he was a buddy of one of the other workers and was there to make a couple of extra bucks. If I wanted buddies I would have asked mine, and not had to pay anything. The one guy will move some stuff and the other two just stand there watching him...why not there paid by the hour Cost me way more than it should have, after calling the owner to voice my concerns he tells me " my guys are good" I beg to differ, your guys stink. To top it off the guys helped themselves to our master bath to do there business, very unprofessional. First, you should ask the home owner. I would have directed them to the half bath. They were also going through our stuff, they would find stuff and bring it out and show the other guys..tacky, unprofessional and they move like senior citizens. I have used Top Dog Movers twice now. One for a local move from my moms 1 bedroom apartment. They were amazing. There was a snow storm that day but they still showed up on time and were very quick, polite and careful with everything. Move was done in 4 hours during the storm! The second time was to move my son's 2 bedroom apartment in Alabama back to my house in Michigan. Frank showed up on time, moved everything out in just a few hours, and was back in Michigan the next day to deliver everything. Including some very heavy things up the stairs with no damage to walls or furniture. I can't say enough great things, quick, polite, careful. No damage to anything. Called Mike 2 weeks ago for a last minute move. He spent several hours re-arranging his schedule to fit us in. Anytime I called the office I spoke to Crystal and she was wonderful. The crew was really the icing on the cake. They showed up early and did a quick walk through then got underway. They were all friendly, thorough and professional. They packed the truck well and were really good at handling our furniture. We moved about 20 miles away and nothing got damaged or even remotely messed up. These guys were great. We needed to move a 550 lb bar from Pottery Barn to our home. We contacted a few places to get quotes. We ended up going with Top Dog and couldn't be more pleased. I work with Jennifer to set everything up. I can't say enough wonderful things about her, she was so helpful! She even called Pottery Barn to confirm everything. The day of the delivery everything went great! Their prices were better than the other places we were quoted and they responded right away to our phone calls. When I first contacted this company, primarily due to reviews of previous users, for my moving from an apartment via a storage place to my new house, I was not quite sure if this company will be good or not. After using this company, I can comfortably recommend it to my friends. Very professional, with not a slight sign of intentional delaying, and almost perfect in loading, unloading, and handling my things from and to the two locations. Most of all, they came at the time they promised! Of course, it was about 50% higher in cost compared with that I did it by myself - hiring movers and a truck separately - when I moved from my previous home to the apartment. However, I would say it definitely was worth of the higher cost. In fact, the company was about 30% lower than another equivalently reviewed company who even charges protecting pads etc. that I believe should be included in the quote. The only one weird to me was that it did not ask me a contract paper signing but a phone call for a reservation. Since it was their way of business, it was ok finally. read more

1st Class! I called Mike 3 weeks b4 our December move and he gave me a fair price on my move from metro Detroit to north Chicago. On the day of the move, Teddy and his crew showed up at 8pm as we agreed, and they had the foresight to bring a 26ft truck. I guess I underestimated the amount of things my wife and I had to move but Teddy, Mike, and I were able to renegotiate on the spot. I honestly think that any other moving company would have looked at the overwhelming amount of furniture and boxes and would have tried to reschedule if not cancel. But Teddy and his crew took on the whole task which took them most of the night and in the freezing cold no less! Our things filled up the entire 26ft truck up to it's gates. After all this work, Teddy and his crew started driving out to Chicago the next morning. Long story short, they delivered all my items in working order and only one dresser had a scratch on it. Teddy even offered to buy and mail us a kit to fix it. They put our california king bedframe together and even helped bring in existing furniture from the garage of the new property. I used Top Dog twice: once to move from Dearborn to Grosse Pointe, and the other time to unload a storage POD at my house. The only thing I did not like was that I was charged 1/2 hour for driving time to my location. Everything else about the company was very good. The workers were very polite and they did a very good job. My wife, like most, is extremely picky and apprehensive about other people moving her stuff, but the guys that helped us were very good. They did a good job unloading the POD, but the move across the city was the most helpful. Compared to two guys and a truck, the rate was very reasonable. read more

The movers were pleasant, careful and mindful of my possessions. They wrapped all of my furniture in plastic and were careful loading it onto the truck.
