We arrived from the east coast to purchase a Cessna 150 and elected to do an annual assist vs a pre buy. Mark is a great teacher but demands strict compliance with all work. We appreciated his attention to detail since we were preparing the C150 for a trip back east to North Carolina. It was a great learning experience for my wife and I as we cleaned plugs, removed wheel bearings etc and this was exactly what we had signed on for. In addition, Mark is a flight instructor and was able to get me current in the new aircraft. All things considered, our experience couldn't be improved on, it was great fun and we learned so much from Mark. We left and flew almost 3000 miles across mountains and desert feeling we knew our aircraft and it was airworthy. Best of all, we made new friends.

Abdi broke things--the DG, the hydraulic system, the brakes, etc. In the process of covering up what he had broken, he broke more things and damaged the aircraft even further. The first time he told me the plane was ready, the nose wheel was installed backwards, and the brakes couldn't hold at anything over idle RPM. Who knows what else was wrong. I stopped checking after the brakes. The second time he told me the plane was ready, the magnetos were miss-wired, and the P lead wouldn't kill the engine. He also damaged the hydraulic system and couldn't fix it. After four months and my insistence on bringing another A&P into his shop to inspect it, he finally called LASAR for help.

As a pilot one of the last things you want to hear is "take her up and see if that fixed it!" Brian at Flying S found the problem, educated me about my plane and let me assist as much as I was able in any and all repairs. There were no aircraft behind it where they usually stored their 'training aircraft'. Their back door was usually open during business hours but it appeared to be closed. Their big sign in front was gone. For all intents and purposes they appeared closed for good. I saw 2 of their 'training aircraft' out on the Ramp, tied down, dirty, and appeared to be derelict aircraft, now. Sad. I was hoping they would stay and be a successful training facility. But alas, it appears that they failed and closed their facility. Does anyone else get the same impression, or have more information? When I tried to call them the phone automatically disconnected. After 4 attempts it became fairly obvious that their land-line is permanently disconnected.

Last time I flew something like that was in 1996 with Chuck Yeager (was a DC-3). I'm currently trying to renew my medical certificate, and when I do, I would love to fly with them.
