We are often able to catch improper installations during our routine inspections at our customers' homes. Some are safety issues and others are issues that lead to water entry and structural damage to portions of the chimney, fireplace or the home itself. Most of these issues can be fixed or repaired relatively inexpensively if they are caught early. Long term deterioration can be repaired also, but at a significantly more cost to the homeowner. Don't buy a house with a chimney before having an inspection performed by a certified chimney sweep.

The owner of this company "Donna" took less than 10 minutes to view and appraise my friends 6,000 sq.ft. house. Donna didn't ask about any of the fine details, such as the radiant heat or central boiler that heats the house, garage and barn. For my friend's second property, the owner of this company said "the house is beyond it's years of capacity." Even though, the house has new siding, new roof, new doors and window, as well as new guttering and down spouts, all new in the last 10 years. This company is a joke and should be brought up on charges for not employing "recognized methods or techniques" and do not follow the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), they are in violation of USPAP. They should at least have their license pulled. It sounds like they were paid off by a land developer.
