Despite its claims, Top Notch doesn't stand by its work. When I worked with William at Top Notch last year to fix a leak and install a skylight, I thought it was a great experience. Until the area around the skylight started leaking this year and William was nowhere to be found despite repeated emails and Yelp messages. Another roofing company came in for an estimate, said the skylight wasn't installed properly to prevent leakage, and quoted $1,100 to repair. Here's how I tried to connect with Top Notch and got the run around and the silent treatment. When I reached out to William again this year about some additional work, he was responsive until I sent pictures of the leak around the skylight. Then crickets for six weeks despite two additional pings via email. I turned to my trusted advisor Yelp to find another roofing company, and used the request a quote feature, which gives you the option to connect with other businesses in addition to the one you originally choose to message. You don't see which other businesses receive your request for a quote, but this sent a request for quote to Top Notch, and William reached out immediately about providing an estimate, as he didn't realize this was a previous customer that he'd been ignoring for six weeks. I mentioned in my response that I'd been trying to get in touch with him for more than a month, and he said he'd look into what happened with our existing email thread. We agreed on a date and time for him to come out for a new estimate. That date came and went with no call, and no show. I reached out about scheduling another date, and he said the service truck was down and he'd let me know when it was back up and we could reschedule. That was two weeks ago and haven't heard from him since, despite both email and Yelp message attempts. read more

Updates! I've had four other companies come by to give estimates to repair the damage that Top Notch Roofing did to my house. I can't put into words the confused look on their faces when I tell them that my roof is only 2 years old. No one can even salvage the work that William did. They have to take it completely off and start from scratch. That's how bad of a job they did. One company even said, "Anyone with an ounce of roofing knowledge would have NEVER installed the roof the way that Top Notch did. Another company told me that the job that William did was "completely insulting" and "unbelievable". My roof is completely wet and has gaping holes in it where it was never sealed or done correctly. These pictures were taken on a hot day - you can see the wrinkles and in the roof and the lumpiness from where water has gotten in and has been seeping into my house. This sleazy company is run by scam artists and literally has no idea what they are doing. I cannot stress enough - stay away from this company at all cost. I have to pay additional money to fix the structural damage done to my house that was caused by the poor job that William did. read more

The work William did, did not even last 3 months and when I contacted him via Yelp, email, call and text we received no response, though he was very responsive when he wanted the original job. We supposedly have a 10 year warranty when we hired him, but that's useless when he is unresponsive and clearly unwilling to fix his mistake. Wind ripped my downspout off my house and was precariously leaning on my neighbors house. I needed someone over the weekend - which is hard to find. William responded immediately, scheduled immediately, showed up the next day and did the work quickly and professionally. He recommended at some point I replace the ancient steel downspout with more modern light aluminum to avoid rust and extend the life of my gutters. I'm immediately rescheduling with them because it's hard to find hardworking, fair and honest folks in the game that are responsive and willing to do any job you throw at them. Quick and accurate service provided. I called a few Yelp-reviewed roofers in about a three-week time frame. A couple weren't taking new customers, a couple wouldn't return phone calls, and one couldn't come out for an estimate for three weeks. William at Top Notch was very responsive to both Yelp messages and emails and completed the work less than 48 hours after sending me his estimate. The best part is I didn't have to be home while he was working so I didn't have to burn leave hours. I don't know how much roof repairs should generally cost, but I do know William charged me $30 less for a small repair than my neighbor's unlicensed "roofer friend" wanted to charge. Professional, Punctual, Attention to Detail. (And an all around a really cool, nice guy.) Discovered a minor leak in our roof and wanted to address it before it turned it something serious. Contacted William and received a personalized response within an hour. Made an appt for him to come out the next day which he did and ON TIME. William and another gentleman spent about an hour conducting an inspection. Once completed, I was given a verbal on the issues that were found and his proposed solutions. Interestingly, William recommended that I do my due diligence and get other quotes before deciding on moving forward with him. Later that evening I received images taken during the inspection of all the issues found along with an itemized quote. His pricing was more than fair and I really appreciated the itemization of how he arrived at the quoted amount. (Side note: the previous roofer who did an inspection climbed his ladder, looked around, stood on my roof, bent over with his arms locked and hands resting on his knees while looking at a shingle, and on the spot blurted out that he'd charge me $X amount which was 2x's what William quoted. Spoiler, I didn't go with that guy.) We scheduled the appt for him to come out to do the repairs which he was able to do only a few days later. Once again, he showed up on time, did the repairs, briefed me on the worked done, pointed out that he found another issue which he took the initiative to address at no additional charge, and went on his way. As with the quote, I received an email later that evening with his invoice and images taken of all the work done. Granted, his work has yet to be put to the test by a future rain storm, but based on my experience with William and his team, I couldn't recommend him more. Take his advice and seek out other quotes. I spent nearly $1000 with top notch 18 months ago and was told that my gutters would be good for 5 years. I now have trees growing out of my gutters. I reached out to top notch and they came out around July 20th. Super quick response and said they would have someone out ASAP to fix the problem and get back to me that very same day. Since then I have called and emailed. I see other fresh reviews so I know they are working but just avoiding me. My 5 start review is now a 0 star review. Once it stops raining I will upload the pictures. Courtesy would be to call back, email back or text back. Service would be to stand behind your product/service. Thank you for saving my gutters! I've been having the issue of hearing the irritating noise of heavy rain fall from my roof to the ground for over a year. We did a project from start to finish under budget, ahead of schedule, higher quality than anticipated, and with such ease that I wish Top Notch would expand into other lines of business so I could keep working with them. William was nice and came to do two roof repair. One was a nail pop and one was improper flashing between the second story roof and the first story roof. He fixed the nail pop no problem but the flashing started leaking again. At first he was very responsive and told me he would come check it out. He supposedly came back twice but he kept coming unannounced and apparently just jumped on the roof and added some more flashing when i wasnt home or awake. However, I still have a leak and now William has ghosted me and will no longer respond. I will have to find another company to correct this now. Try calling him, he never picks up or calls back. Initially, the service man came out quickly for the estimate, took pictures and sent us and put a tarp in the roof for $400. However, the tarp didn't work and rain has continued to come in at the two peak sites while we wait for our check from the insurance so we can replace it. Very upset to report that Top Notch Roofing was MIA when it came to honoring their warranty on their initial roofing work. We experienced a leak after a major downpour and asked William to come by. He confirmed he would on a scheduled day but never arrived. I attempted half a dozen times by phone, email and text to reach him for an explanation and honestly don't know what happened. My husband followed up last week and reached William who again agreed to come by, then stood my husband up with no further contact. We wrote a follow up email the following day to Top Notch, and still no word from them. Well, I requested an estimate for fire damage in my attic because our house is under contract and the buyers inspector found fire and structural damage we weren't aware of. We needed an urgent quote. The owner arrived with another person who had a ladder. I asked him if he wanted to come in to go in the attic. He said no, he saw the pictures I attached which was an immediate red flag and said he just needed to see the roof to make sure he checked everything before they gave the estimate. They left and I was told that I would receive an estimate that night and didn't receive anything. I wrote to get an update the next day and... Wait for it.... NO RESPONSE. I wrote them again the next day and surprise they responded... Just kidding... NO RESPONSE!!!! Good thing I was able to get quotes from the other 3 companies that came and communicated well, even if they were delayed or couldn't do the job. I had already suspected that they wouldn't be up to par from the MILLION one star reviews that were changed from 5 stars, because of their poor work quality and then going MIA making the point of a warranty pointless, that they have but they reached even lower expectations. We had moisture seeping into our sunroom from the flashing where it connected to the house and had had water enter the house from what we thought was the window or portico roof over our front door. William responded to us super quickly and was great to deal with. He came out that week, followed appropriate COVID protocols, inspected the issues, immediately identified the problems, had a straightforward plan to address them, and gave us a very reasonable quote. I discovered a pretty bad roof leak following a couple days of heavy rain and needed emergency help to diagnose and solve the problem. I connected with Top Notch on Yelp and it was very easy to coordinate an inspection for the next day then get the repairs made just a few days later. The kicker is I was out of town this whole time but was able to do everything remotely; it was easy to communicate with them and they were very good about sending photos and video to keep me up to speed. I have to wonder if there was a change of ownership since these other reviews were written. I called Top Notch based on these reviews, and had a terrible experience with William. The first time I called William, he gave me a price quote to install an attic fan and we scheduled a time. An hour after the appointed time, he hadn't shown up so I called him. He said he'd been at our home and left when no one answered the door (and left his business card to prove it). It's possible we missed the doorbell, but I don't understand why he wouldn't just call my cell phone. In any case, he said he wasn't going to be able to do the install that day because his helper/employee wasn't picking up the phone. Fair enough - I didn't hold anything against William at this point. The second time, William showed up early for our appointment, but he left soon after because he said he needed a special piece of equipment to go on our roof because apparently our shingles were installed improperly. We've had roofers before, and no one has ever mentioned that our shingles are installed incorrectly. (When we finally got the attic fan installed by another roofer, I asked about the shingles, and they said the shingles were installed fine.) The third time, my husband stayed home from work specifically to meet William for the installation. William did not show up. He did not call ahead of time, and he did not return my husband's calls. When I called William that evening (7 hours after the appointment time), William said his truck broke down. We scheduled a 4th appointment. The fourth time, William did not show up. He did not call ahead of time, and he never returned any of our calls after that. I literally called him 15-20 times over the next few weeks and never got a response. I tried texting, calling from different phone numbers, and nothing.
