While the market runs year-round, there are less vendors out during the winter season because the actual building they run the market out of is very tiny. The St. Lawrence market puts this place to shame size-wise, but this market has a more intimate feel, which is what buying local is all about, isn't it? In the Summer time, vendors line the entrance way and take up some of the parking lot (which can get quite busy/completely full with cars. Have patience..) which adds even more options for potential dinner(s). Tip: arrive as early as you can before everything runs out! They have: -A little coffee place that also makes breakfast sandwiches and small stuff like that -Organic and non-organic fruits and veggies -Organic meats including sausages (spicy, honey garlic, plain) lamb, beef, poultry, venison, bacon etc -Yummy goods baked by Farmer's wives -this is the real deal! (I recommend the German apple cake from the woman inside towards the back of the building, the tarts that are sold outside are also good too) -All sorts of plants (one guy there sells GIANT lillies) -Beeswax candles -Pottery, sculptures, art work, knick-knacks, etc -Sometimes there's a guy there who sells $20 bottles of olive oil who is a really good sales-pitcher. The oil does taste really good though. When you're finished over here, take a nice stroll downtown and check out some of the bookstores, or sit by the ravine in the shade with a coffee.

Of course, you're going to be paying a slight premium from the products here but it's good to support local farms and communities. They also have a variety of frozen meats, as well as baked goods like danishes and short bread. The short bread was packed nicely and a sweet, creamy taste, The danishes were very good as well. As soon as I brought them home, they were gone right away. My family seemed to enjoy the pastries so I wish I bought more. Overall, it seems like this farm produces some nice quality products.

I love shopping from farms like these when in season of course as it supports local folks and communities that deserve help from city slickers like me! I picked up some lamb chop (which is my first time having lamb) a jar of peach raspberry jam plus some cheese curds; my mother picked some peas, strawberry syrup and lamb too. All in all I liked it there and may divert our usual route on purpose just to come back and pick up some other items that I didn't have room in the cooler to take back to home. :)

I assumed sheep's milk would taste like goat milk, and have a fairly strong flavor. Nope. I wouldn't be able to tell it was from a sheep and not from a cow. I sampled a number of cheeses, but my favorite was the sheep's milk halloumi cheese. It's a grilling cheese. It's on the saltier side, but pairs incredibly with fruit.

I sampled their entire range which included nine ciders, including a couple of new ones like "Sumac" which gets its lovely colour from local sumac, iced cider as well as their non-alcoholic spiced warm apple cider. All of their ciders are made from Duntroon Parish and Ontario heritage hand-picked apples and are sulphite-free, gluten-free and vegan. They also have a menu of small plates that changes seasonally. During our visit we enjoyed charcuterie, locally made empanadas with nachos and dips as well as the tastiest popcorn topped with garlic seasoning made with garlic grown on the farm. They offer something for the whole family, including your furry friends! From food pop-up events, to live music, to vendor markets, there is rarely a dull moment on the farm. I mentioned that they are a four season destination and one of the highlights of my summer last year was their seafood boil evening. Since my most recent visit was at the tail end of the winter season, they still had their "Winter Utopia" set up which included fireplaces, a dome, and you could still see the signage from their winter snowshoeing trails. I can't wait to see what they have in store for this summer! Inside, among the shelves and fridges, you'll find some of the best local and seasonal products the community has to offer. Black garlic from the farm, Cabin Kitchen ready made meals, Blue Mountain Tea Co. tea, Loco Por El Asado empanadas, Mother Butter shortbread, fresh eggs, local meats and cheeses were just a few of the items they had in stock during this visit.
