Great light brunch/lunch spot with really good French Onion soup! Came up with my partner to Blue Mountain for a weekend getaway and slowly made our way back to Toronto. Made sure to try this well known bakery/cafe before we headed back. It was a great find! I ordered the French Onion soup and a pumpkin muffin with cream cheese icing, and my partner ordered the Smithwich and an English breakfast tea. Everything was very tasty and fresh. The French Onion soup had a nice sweetness to it that wasn't overpowering and the cheese on top was so gooey and delicious. The few bites I had of the Smithwich were very satisfying. The freshly baked bagel with many slices of delicious roasted beef and a sunnyside up egg was mouth watering. The pumpkin muffin was great too - I liked that it didn't have very much icing and and had beautiful pumpkin seeds on top. The decor was cozy, airy and bright - I really enjoyed the big mirror that looks like a seashell/flower and my partner enjoyed the fireplace! Very happy to have tried out this restaurant! read more

Stopped by for brunch on Sunday and apparently news is out that it's a great place as it was very busy at the order counter, thankfully, there was lots of seating available - always nice. Service - You order at the front and they bring your order out which is simple and efficient. The wait time wasn't long and well worth it. Food - I ordered the dippy eggs with gluten free toast with a side of home fries that were shared with my bf who had the eggs and bacon. We both enjoyed our meals and agreed we would go back. Next time to try some baked goods which I must say, looked delish! Recommend checking this place out, they offer a variety of vegan options and you can sub in their excellent gluten free bread with any menu item containing bread - another plus! read more

The proper name of the place is "Thornbury Bakery Cafe". It was a nice quiet local shop and was a nice atmosphere considering that I'm from the city. My wife and I had two different eggs Benedict and it was quite good. The place is more focused on baked goods though. If you are into getting some fresh bread, this is the place to go. read more

Would not return. NO real wifi (they say they have it, but read below - beware). They routinely burn their coffee. The baked goods are super boring tasting (waste of a treat!). It's a cute spot, and you might WANT to support local (I do!), but after several tries, I now sadly would say: don't bother. ----- Line up in the morning moves too slowly. Cannot grab a coffee or baked good to go in under 10min! Ridiculous, and I have seen people leave on more than one occasion. I wouldn't mind waiting a little bit to support a local business, but their system is really SLOOOOOOOW. Coffee is terrible as they routinely burn it. It could be good if they could stop doing that because it's not the beans' fault ;) I've tried a variety of the baked goods over a few visits and they were all not very good: for example, the berry scone, cinnamon bun, and any muffins I've tried are ALL blah. I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned the dough - it must have something do to with it, what do I know, but everything had no taste, not enough of anything interesting added to it, and tasted like, well, boring, if boring could be a taste! Everything I tried I felt was a waste of money, waste of calories, not delicious at all, and nothing I would try again, or recommend. Lastly, there is NO WIFI - it doesn't work. It IS there for you to log in to, and you can access google and gmail and that's about it. They have it set up to block most other webpages. Maybe they don't want people there on their laptops/tablets/phones - which I can understand if people take up tables and don't order things - in fact, I would support that if that is a problem they are trying to fix. But it wasn't busy in the sitting area the one morning I decided to stay in, and I ordered plenty to "exchange" for a little wifi use in the hour I intended to be there - so if I ask if you have wifi, and you say yes, and then you basically do NOT have wifi-that-lets-me-do-anything, I'm not impressed with your bait and switch. It looks really cute - whoever did the renovation did a nice looking job. I don't understand the positive reviews here, and I tried several visits thinking it must just have been "one bad experience", "one meh item", "one day of burning the coffee" etc - but it wasn't! I WANT to like this local business and support them. The store is cute and the people working there are friendly enough. Unfortunately there are just too many misses. And there are MUCH better baked goods and coffee elsewhere - I prefer Shale Rock coffee house down the road, and Gibson & Company in Collingwood, for two great local examples (and both of those have reliably excellent coffee, great fast wifi, and yummy things to eat, including baked treats). read more

Absolutely delicious! Cozy, fast, fresh made entrees, yummy baked goods. Tables inside and out on sidewalk. I enjoyed the smoked salmon on a bagel while my friend had the quiche of the day with fresh baked bread and salad. Hubby had the toasted Reuben. All were fantastic. My mom and I visited today and had a brief but unpleasant experience. We specifically drove from Owen Sound to Thornbury because my mom had told me they had amazing sandwiches so we made the trip. We got there at 3:40, asked for a menu from an employee who said "oh our hot kitchen is closed" despite their online hours only mentioning they close at 4. I would strongly recommend you make an adjustment to your hours online that make it clear when you actually serve food to avoid future disappointment for customers. read more

Was it worth the bike ride from Collingwood? No. Decor great. No A/C. Food was mediocre. My over medium eggs came over hard. Peameal was over cooked/tough and hard to cut. Hard to believe toast was fresh. The fruit had seen better days. My husbaiwggs benny looked the way they tasted which was not good. Filled the hole in our stomach and gave us sustenance for the bike ride back. Would not go again. read more
