The studio was very clean and Shane thoroughly explained the steps before even sitting in the chair and then again as she did it while sterilizing the equipment. I was a bit nervous and Shane was very reassuring. I can be a baby with pain and so Shane first pinched the area to numb it and it really wasn't bad at all. Stung for about 20 seconds! That afternoon I kept forgetting it was even there since no pain. I have some health issues so Shane was very good and patient about me standing up slowly from the chair and lying me down while doing the piercing so I wouldn't be dizzy. I was honestly more nervous about the possible dizziness than the piercing itself! 100% recommend!! Very reasonable pricing too but that was just a bonus. LOVE my stud!!! :)

I emailed my idea and availability and they got back to me a few days later because they were on vacation. I didn't end up booking until maybe almost a month later (emailed in June) because I had to make sure I had the right amount of funds. Thankfully the deposit I made secured my spot for the following week and due to wanting a change in the design Yida was kind enough to consult with me on the change. The tattoo was on my chest and it was quite painful but at the same time tolerable. Jing did a lovely job on my piece and I felt at ease being there. We took breaks but she finished in about two and a half hours. I'll cherish this piece for the rest of my life. I definitely plan on coming back soon. I feel like I made the right choice in trusting Jing!

After asking to see the guys work and being extremely impressed with his details and how precise he was with his outlining I proceeded to make an appointment. When I got there I showed him a picture of the cherry blossom design I wanted... I also wanted him to put his own flair and colors into it. He looked at the picture once and free handed the design on my shoulder. Wow, was all i could say, he was goooooodddd. Really good! After 2.5 hours of pain we were done and he did an awesome job!!!! The lines are straight and not shaky. The coloring is beautiful and the size is just right. Its my favorite tattoo yet. Yay, to Eddie! He did an awesome job!!!!

Thank the heavens I finally found a tattoo shop in my area that actually has ARTISTS working! I won't name names, but there are few really sketchy "tattoo shops" close by, that are willing to take your money and push you out the door with a shoddy tattoo you will end up paying for twice. Once to have Jo Schmo tattoo you, and once to have JAMIE at Top Shelf cover it up for you! I highly recommend going to see Jamie at Top Shelf, whether it's your first tattoo, or your 100th tattoo. Jamie did my tattoo, and it came out even better than I had imagined. He was also very patient with me, as I was a bit nervous. I will def be bringing my sister back to him get her next tattoo! I had gone to Top Shelf to get my nose pierced. At first the workers there were sarcastic. But people...lets get this straight...almost every tattoo shop is like this. All different types of people get tattoos and I bet you couldn't imagine the kinds of idiotic, insane people these artists encounter. So I'm okay with this because its almost part of the job description when working with the public. Moving on, I had to wait 30 minutes because they were quite busy which I didn't mind. The process was done quickly. They are professional and clean. As I begun to chit chat a little, the atmosphere and workers became relaxed and fun. I gave an idea about what I wanted for my tattoo, and Mike turned it into something great. He took me back and didn't have any studs I liked and then said "fine I'll do the ring" I had a bad vibe so ran out of here and went to Psicosis. As soon as I walked in I was greeted nicely by a young lady and the most adorable dog. I went downstairs to get the piercing done. The man wore a mask the entire time which I really appreciated. He was so quick about it. Like when I say I wasn't even at this place 20 minutes I mean. But anyway, my nose ring came out great and is healing beautifully. I definitely recommend them for piercings

I went to this location with a friend and because of doing research and seeing that they do great work and have won awards. Looking back in hind sight, most of the work done on their Instagram was from the owner Ricky (he is the best artist at the shop it seems). I would not recommend people of color with brown skin tones to come here . My artist was Lan and I realize now that he is good with black and grey pieces, but not colored pieces, especially for brown POC. I also would not recommend Lan for pieces that are customized and need an artist's input. He is good with pieces that are exactly as it is. He is not good when it comes to working with the customer to enhance a piece. I got my tattoo done in early May of 2019. I wanted a customized piece of the national bird and flowers of my home country. I specifically requested for the tattoo to be on my stomach to cover up a birthmark and scar. However it didn't completely cover my scar so he added a blue background. I paid $450 for my piece and also tipped so it came up to $520. When my tattoo was healing I noticed that parts of it spread through the skin. After a few months, I reached out to him for my free touch up. The session was 20 minutes, he added black lining into the piece and tried to cover up the smudging with ink that he thought would match my skin tone. I tipped him $50 just for his time and because I believe it's important to tip a service. However a few months later again, I had issues with my piece because the cover up he did was darker than my skin tone. I reached out to him about it and he said to comeback and he'll try again to match my skin. I told him I would rather him cover it up with butterflies. In December I went in for him to fix the issue, and during this day I felt super uncomfortable. The other times I came to the place, I was with someone and also there were not many men there. Today there were four guys there, and ever time I got up to look at my piece, all of them kept looking at me and my stomach and so I felt uncomfortable. Also, Lan already chose the design for the butterfly and everything without even discussing it with me. I didn't want to make a big fuss because I appreciated him offering to do it for free, but looking back, I should have spoken up for myself. He chose butterflies that were not detailed and just colored. I had to ask him to put in black lining. I felt super uncomfortable because I was surrounded by men and also because I didn't feel like being the annoying customer to an artist. But later that night I realized that he only put antennas on one of the three butterflies. I felt like the cover up was half-assed and made my tattoo look worse. I reached out to him on Instagram and he said he would add the attenas and only charge me tip. At first I said okay, but he keeps making mistakes, and he should not force a customer to pay tip for a mistake he has to fix. When I told him why I didn't say much about my dissatisfaction at the shop and wanted a better resolution, he left me on "seen." I waited some time for my tattoo to heal and for him to respond, but he has not. Therefore, I am writing this bad review. Screen shots of our Instagram convo are attached. I will be going to another location to get my piece fixed. I will not ever return here again because of the mistakes, and how Lan handled the situation.

The pricing is decent as well, 150/hr plus 18-20% tip isn't bad if you're paying for what you're getting, much better than settling for some underground place that'll give me a fading tattoo, blurry and/or hepatitis. Ricky is also the most skilled artist I've ever seen, he was doing a woman's sleeve when I was coming in and it was detailed as hell, and it must have taken a while. I enjoyed my time at 7 train tattoo and my piece came out gorgeous. Will be back at the shop soon!

We believe that we got substandard service and an inexperienced tattoo artist because of the Groupon.
