I've been getting my haircut at Steve's Magic Haircut since 2003. In 2017 I moved to Florida and after unsuccessfully finding a barber who knew what they were doing I was flying up every other month to visit my dad but also to get my haircut. Did that for 5 years . Steve not only is a magician with his scissors he has a tremendous sense of humor and always has great music playing. Steve also has a uncanny ability to remember things such as birthdays & genuinely interested in what's happening in your life. I've come here since he opened up shop back in 2000. He cuts hair any style you want and which way you want. He's actually the one who suggested the current hairstyle I've had for 6+ years. The prices are fair and the place is well kept. I'm typically a quiet customer, as opposed to someone out of an Eddie Murphy comedy who hangs out at barbershops. But over the many years coming here I have listened to Steve sing classic rock, seen him dance to European pop music videos, been offered vodka from the bar he put together, had my horoscope read to me, and many more stories, Steve and Lana are really swell people, and he always opens up early for me so I can go into the office on time. I've been a royal customer of Steve for over 10 years. His courtesy, his work style is out of this world. Not to mention his sense of humor. The place is very clean, organized, neat and beautifully designed. Luckily the parking situation is not bad at all. Over all, this is a hidden gem in Bayside which you must try it at least once but I warn you, you might get addicted to it. steve knows how to cut hair, it's as simple as that. be it curly, straight, young or middle age his cuts will work for you. his cousin, lana, works there on sundays and does a good job on women's hair. i just wish steve would cut my hair as well,but it's men only by steve. you lucky guys!!! closed sat. read more

I have been going to Steve for the past 7 years and he has been the most consistent and competent barbers I have ever had. He treats all his customers like family. He remembers your preferences, the length you keep your sideburns and even your astrological sign. Every haircut starts out with a full wash in the sink. Steve is meticulous and doesn't rush. He is careful to not to get any hair on your clothes. He is usually willing to chat you up on any number of topics from herbal remedies to music, but if you aren't in a talkative mood, he will leave you in peace. I've never really gotten a great haircut and I usually judge how it goes by how "not so bad" it looks. Steve gave me just what I wanted and just what I had pictured in my own mind. Steve's a nice man but beyond that, it's all downhill. I went a few times when I was younger. I asked for a haircut like Marilyn Manson. I was a bit of a goth in high school. I grew out my hair for a whole year. He ended up giving me a crew cut and said that it looked better. My friend has been going to him for over 30 years and he's never given him a free haircut or anything. There are better options out there read more
