Tops never stops saving you more. Tops never stops! I remember hearing this jingle growing up. I'd watch Fox 29 Buffalo often because the best cartoons were on this channel after school and on Saturday mornings. I'd sing along to the jingle while watching the commercial. Well, the jingle and commercial are now a fond memory, except when I sing it. However, Tops Friendly Markets are still alive and kicking! A couple of weekends ago, after having been in Niagara Falls for a couple of hours, I needed to get grocery items before checking in to the hotel. I saw this Tops as I was heading over to Duff's for a late lunch. It was the perfect place to shop. There is a lot of parking in this lot. This Tops also has a gas station across from the store. I parked and walked in to check out the store. This supermarket has a recycle centre to the right of the main entrance. It's good to know. I grabbed a shopping cart and began to browse. It's a cool supermarket. Items are nicely stacked. It's clean. I saw vending machines that sold lottery tickets. Cool and different! I needed some fruit. I found pineapple chunks that were discounted. Perfect! The produce section was awesome. The fruit and veggies were fresh and in great condition. I was happy with getting a couple of lemons. I got some pop. It had a good deal on both bottled and canned pop. I was happy that I drove across the border. I knew that I couldn't drink it all, so I took some home. I hadn's seen RC Cola in eons! The beverages at this store are great. You can find everything from Canada Dry cherry ginger ale, to Snapple in both regular and sugar-free versions. Yay! I liked the jam and honey sections. The former had Smuckers sugar-free jam varieties in squeeze bottles. I was impressed. The latter had raw sugar that I like in squeeze bottles, too. I was a happy camper. I decided to use the self-checkout kiosk. Mine wasn't co-operating for some reason. An attentive male staffer came over to help out without my even saying a word. He entered a special code and the kiosk worked. Service was that prompt at a self-checkout area. Wow! The kiosks accept credit and debit cards. It liked my Canadian credit card. I paid, bagged my items with my own reusable bags, and left. It's a great grocery store. If I had stayed longer in Niagara Falls, I would have hauled more items or had revisited this store. I was horrified to look into the salad case at the deli every single item ,salad was dried out and un pleasant to even look at. Tops is losing customers on the daily And this is an example why. I will be shopping at Wegmans from now on everything is clean, fresh and delicious from there. read more

This store is the worst. They have never what's supposed to be on sale or stocked shelves, never have meat out and trying to get someone's attention is like pulling teeth. Then today they had no cashiers working only self check out. If I wanted to be a cashier I would be a cashier. Scanner doesn't work correctly then the one standing had to nerve to ask me if I scanned my Gatorade and water. I am not a thief and if you would concerned about it then maybe you all should a cashier working. If someone calls in the manager should be doing it. This is not the first time this has happened but will be my last time ever going there. read more

Like to know WHY there is a person working at the deli/take out counter which also takes orders of shoppers wanting a famous TOPS fish fry, will not take orders for a fish fry???? IIf this person doesn't know HOW to cook/prepare a fish fry, then wouldn't it make sense to have this person working during the daytime so someone else sharing the shift, can fry up a fish fry? THiS is not logical at all. If I needed a job, and am required to do things for the position I am hired for, and supposed to do, then I'd quit and work somewhere where I can DO ALL positions and requirements of the position. While I'm not a huge Tops fan, my experiences coming here have generally been okay. Today, I gave them a call and despite their busy-ness they were able to kindly answer my questions over the phone in regards to my bonus card #. I find the produce be generally in good shape as well. I'm a fan of this Tops location and if they priced their produce just a tad better, I'd be back here a lot more. Self check out is also unfortunately clunky with the system (don't like how it makes you put it on the bagging aisle and if you skip bagging too many times it bugs out on you). read more

Everyday fish fry review........ Upon calling to order a fish fry, the associate was nice but seemed a bit flustered to take a phone call order. Order was put in and 20 minutes later it was ready on time. Upon arrival it was ready and the carry out cafe smelled pretty good. Fried chicken and fish was in the air lol. I asked for extra tartar sauce and was given to me at no extra cost. I got home and the fish fry was pretty good and fresh well by fresh I mean recently fried lol. The fish was frozen but I'm pretty sure about 75 percent of the haddock dinners around here are frozen. It had a little bit of a fishy taste if you know what I mean. It was $10 bucks for the fry and overall it wasn't bad. I'd do it again. It is what it is. read more

I have been going to this Tops location for years and I have to say that as of late it has been a whirlwind of service. Some days are great and other days it is horrendous. I rarely need help if any at all and it seems that whenever I ask for help I get some the rudest, lack luster miserable people. Everyone working in the produce department is miserable. Everytime I've asked for any assistance I'm met with heavy sighs and annoyance. I had one young lady point across the store instead of showing me where scallions were and when I went over there, all I could find was green onions. When I reapproached her to double check she knew what I was looking for, she tried telling me they're one in same which they're not. There's a gentleman in the dairy/frozen food section I will NEVER approach. He acts like customers are the most annoying people to ever exist while he's restocking the shelves. Whenever I see him I find myself nearly tiptoeing around him so as not to disturb him. How ridiculous is that? It's sad because I used to work at Tops many years ago and if I ever treated anyone the way the staff at this store does I would have lost my job on the spot. It's absolutely ridiculous. One saving grace is a woman in the deli department. She is an absolute gem. She has the patience of a saint and has put up with some of the worst customers I have ever seen. She is always pleasant despite being talked down to. I wish I could remember her name. She is an older lady who deserves all the respect! This location is convenient because it's close to home otherwise I can't stand it. read more

Typical Tops Supermarket..produce department is good as well as the meat department. They just recently started the program of food delivery to your car. To make it easier they have designated parking spots for pick-up. This location also has a gas station. read more

This is a good Tops. Updated, easy to navigate layout. Overall good product - produce, meats, deli, etc. My favorite discovery here was that they have SLUSH PUPPIES!!!! In the prepared foods area. They sell 2 sizes, & always seem to have blue raspberry, and a red flavor. I've had both loganberry flavor & cherry. I'm obsessed. Every time I'm in Niagara Falls I stop in to get a slush puppie. It's always the highlight of my visit! Also great location, near other good retail - TJMaxx, Target, etc. read more

They used to be open 24 hours. They keep cutting their hours. Now they close at like 10pm. At least Wegmans says open till midnight

I have been here only twice. Both times for specific things that I wanted to pick up without going into crowded Wegmans up the street. This location has terrific parking. Love that. The store is like many other Tops, the veges can be hit or miss. But I was there for bulk one time and for band aids the other, so my perusal of veges was cursory. The bulk was clean and swept up, always a nice thing. Band-Aids were easy to find and ok priced. 3 stars, chain. I default chains to 3 stars, unless there's a significant great or atrocious experience bumping them up or down. read more

Last place I'd shop. Very expensive if you don't have their card. Produce not very fresh. We left after we saw the high prices.

I hate being on a liquid diet so its was off to Tops. I eat out a lot so I really do not do much grocery shopping and I very seldom shop at Tops. I consider myself a thrifty shopper so why would I go here to buy a item say hotdogs when I can go just down to street to another store and get the same item for $2 cheaper. Tops is a good place for me to go just to pick up last minute items that I need right away otherwise I shop elsewhere. read more

This refers to all Tops locations. You can walk around Wegmans and find employees all over the store to help customers but any Tops locations there is noone to help. I have even gone up to customer service, at Tops, to page an employee for assistance. Customer service made the call and yet noone came. Think twice about shopping Tops. Tops does not cater to their customers as Wegmans does. read more

Very short staffed, usually will have what looks to be managers and other department workers on register during busy hours to accommodate lack of cashiers. Only 2-3 lanes open at a time, morons in the 15 or less express lane with 25+ items because they can't read. Bathrooms are filthy and smell like a zoo, prices are quite high compared to other local grocery stores in the area. read more

This is my usual stop for groceries. Prices are reasonable if you pay attention to their sales. It's fairly well kept (MUCH better than the dumpy Tops on Portage) and open 24-hours. Unfortunately after 11:00 pm they only option for check-out is the self check-out. I'm totally a fan of paying in Canadian at the till (including gas). They offer a better rate than anywhere else. This store is ok but to the poster saying it has more unique things than Wegmans, I beg to differ. Ever since this store opened in the mid 1990's, it has progressively gone downhill, losing a lot of what made the International store unique. In fact, the most recent remodel killed a lot of what made the store work and in my opnion, it is now more a generic Tops store than anything. However, this store is better than a lot of other Tops stores and it does have a bigger selection. Still have to pick Wegmans for the unique items though. read more

This store is the worst! The employees are rude and downright ignorant. I am constantly being overcharged as many items are wrongly marked and/or their computer has the wrong prices. The sale items are never there or they have one of each sale item for the whole week. Whoever is lucky enough to get that one product must get there just as their ad goes out because Everyone I know has a problem getting any sale items. They never stock the sales items at all. I think it's a scam. I have been charged $1 per radish on a bunch of radishes supposedly on sale for $1 a bunch. $9 for a bunch of radishes! I was charge $10 for a parfait cup of yogurt. They claimed it was a sheet cake. Also when you return things, the witches at the "courtesy desk" accuse you of fraud and stealing things. Tops: Absolutely NOT good! Was glad to move away from Niagara Falls, NY to get away from their over- priced, poor quality foods. Seemed they shopped around at other stores just to get their expired foods! (most of this pertains to the store in LaSalle- Tops International) Check cans and boxes carefully.
