    History of Toqua area

This place is in Loudon County of Tellico Village and is open to the public. Arrived on a busy Friday night and the hostess quickly cleaned a table so we had a place to eat. Katey was our very nice & attentive waitress. Enjoyed the seafood chowder, fish fry, black Jack flat bread and Reuben. Beers were nice and cold. We were able to watch March Madness with lots of TVs. I took a picture in the lobby giving the history of Toqua. Check it out!

Reasonable food and prices for a golf course pub. Great bar and good servers. They should turn on a tv volume though.

My husband and I came here for lunch on a Thursday and had our baby with us. Walking in we were warmly greeted by the hostess and brought to our table. She asked us if we wanted a low table or a high table and if we needed a sling or a high chair. Our server immediately came over and got our drink order and let us look over the menu. Their menu has a lot of really good options from sandwiches to pizza and hamburgers. I decided on the Italian beef sandwich and my husband got the Halas Burger. The food came out extremely fast and was hot and fresh. My sandwich was a roast beef sandwich with onions, peppers and cheese dipped in au jus and severed with a side of au jus and Giardiniera. It tasted great. The flavors all went really well together and the giardiniera added a great crunch and slight heat to the sandwich. I got onion rings as my side, which were hot and crunchy. The Halas burger was a burger patty topped with an onion ring, mozzarella and boom boom sauce. The patty was well cooked and fresh. With the onion ring and everything else it was a great burger. The fries that came with it were hot and had good flavor. Windy City is a great lace to come and get some good food. I can definitely see it being a great place to watch a game and have a drink or two with friends or coming and just grabbing some food and hanging out with friends or family. We will definitely be back to try more things.

There there is motorcycle parking and live music at different times. We decided to eat inside with a wonderful view of the river and birds that would come quite close to the windows. We wished we had a server like her wherever we went! Yes, she is that good! We ordered hamburgers with pork rinds. DH's hamburger was a barbecue burger, but we ordered it without a bun and mine was bacon and cheese without a bun. The pork rinds were fresh and delicious!! I had stopped in to Iron Works Grille for lunch on my last trip to the area in 2019, and my positive experience at the time encouraged me to make it a stop on this recent trip with friends. There has been a recent change in ownership, but the new owners seem to have maintained the previous regime's solid execution of casual tavern cuisine while adding some innovative options to the menu--which focuses on casual dishes including smashburgers, sandwiches, salads, tavern appetizers, and simple platters featuring local specialties. We sat in the open seating area located underneath the main dining room. It offers an excellent view of the Tellico River, which runs behind the restaurant, though I was mildly spooked by the multiple signs along the river's edge warning visitors about snakes. I spent much of the meal checking under the table for unwanted guests. Thankfully, the food at Iron Works Grille was tasty enough to distract me from my reptile anxiety. We started with a dozen of the "Almost Famous" Bacon-Wrapped Fried Pickles ($18), an unexpected combination of two of my favorite savory flavors, and the Smashed Brussels ($12), served perfectly crispy and topped with a delicious balsamic drizzle and a dusting of parmesan cheese. I had the Tellico Trout Sandwich ($15), a generous, hand-breaded filet of fried trout served on a hoagie roll with pickles, lettuce, and house tartar sauce. My sandwich also came with my choice of side .. and I opted for the fried okra. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside while tender on the inside, and I thought it was excellent and paired well with the fried okra. My friends really enjoyed their sandwiches as well. The only minor downside was a small service quirk. I asked if I could get the trout in a wrap. Our server had to check with more experienced staff, who ultimately said no. It seemed a bit odd for a flexible tavern, but the food itself was so good it didn't ruin the meal. Overall, it is a fantastic, scenic spot for a pre- or post-drive meal, and the new management is keeping the kitchen firing on all cylinders.
