Fried Chicken, Pasta, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Fish, Soups (2), .....ohhh my I cannot remember all the delicious items. The only thing exceeding the scrumptious buffet was the attentiveness and spirited attitude of the server. A lot of the menu features fried items that appear to be frozen then fried fresh just before they are served. That is not a criticism at all; the food comes out hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The chicken-fried steak is a great example. It is not a handmade steak prepared from scratch in the kitchen, but rather a prepared patty--and it is still absolutely delicious, especially when you order it as a sandwich. Be sure to try the fried squash or fried okra. Both are crispy, flavorful, and among the better versions I have had around town. They also serve some of the best sweet tea I have tasted anywhere. Breakfast is another reason to visit--their morning food is outstanding. Add in the friendly, welcoming atmosphere and a serving staff that is always top-notch, and you have a place that is easy to recommend. This is one of my favorite local spots and definitely somewhere you should go if you are looking for a casual, tasty meal.

The steak was so good, it is now tied with the best steak I have ever had in my life. It was cooked perfectly, but what set it apart is that it was the most tender, melt in your mouth steak I have ever had. I don't know how they can get a steak that tender, but it was amazing. There were not a bad bite to the steak, it was really a perfect cut of steak that was sourced local. My wife's salmon was just as good, a crispy exterior with a moist, perfectly cooked filet of salmon. For dessert we ordered the Molton lava cake which my wife says she is a connoseur of molten lava cakes and is picky when it comes to them. Her verdict: amazing. I'm not sure if the person at the counter was new or training but he didn't know if they served hot cocoa. Another staff member taught him how to prepare it and ring it up. She asked if I wanted whipped cream but didn't say it was a $1 up charge which is quite steep for a drink that's only $3.50 or so to start. It was just canned whipped cream so that felt very pricey: the cocoa was average. I also ordered a cheese Danish to go and the employee just opened a box and the lid of the Danish cloche and told me to grab one. I feel like they should use a paper to grab it; I don't like the thought of other customers putting their hands in to choose. I also didn't want to touch my own pastry with my bare hands before washing. It didn't really make me want to return to try a sandwich. I understand that new employees need training, if that was the case. But I do think they should be familiar with what basic beverages are available.
