As a business owner I always appreciate the attention to detail anywhere I go and Torchys seems to have it figured out. Upon entering you wait in line to order your food - as to be anticipated a very helpful staff at the counter. Torchys has a lot of neat varieties of tacos with fun names like the independent, the republican , etc. my husband and I both had the all day breakfast choice of a miga. Scrambled eggs , tortilla chips, avocado , cheese and pico made a delicious combination and for $2.50 we were both amazed we were full ! The drink counter has everything self serve including tin foil, bags, etc. staff that delivered the food were super friendly too- great find -a MUST GO!!! read more

This place all depends on when you go. I would definitely try to avoid going there on game days - as I've never had a good experience at Torchys on any game day. Honestly, sometimes this place is amazing and other days it is mediocre at best - due to lack of consistency I'm rating them as a 3. Waited 45 minutes for tacos one day - saw two other couples sit down AFTER us, get their food and finish it before ours was even out. Food came out cold, one wasn't what we ordered, and all but one taco came without the sauce - we returned the food, got a refund, and went elsewhere without trouble. Have had similar experiences a few other times. However, on their good days the food is pretty amazing - I especially love the queso, the Democrat, and the Trailer Park (trashy). Definitely need a second location in Lubbock! read more

Seriously good eats here! It's a bit pricy, but you get a lot for the money. You'll love the food. The atmosphere is loud and the patio is cool. However, at times, it's kind of a fraternity/sorority "satellite office". It is worth your time to get to Torchy's. read more

Heard nothing but good things about this place. Went to try it and it took 30 minutes to being out 2 tacos and one had a chicken nugget on a tortilla . The other taco had 2 hard pieces of beef on it. The manager could have cared less that our order was wrong and that the quality was bad. Got our money back and left. Will not go there again. read more

Grew up in Austin, loved torchy's tacos and was so excited to see that they were making a new location here. Unfortunately, the service is bad, the food is poorly prepared and for their prices, is ridiculous. I've gone 5 times each time hoping will be better than the last, either screwed up my order completely, or even forgot to bring it out to me and when reminded, brought out my cold tacos and queso which had hardened and become room temperature. So sad to see such a great place go to waste here in Lubbock. Just sad. read more

Of the couple times I've been here, the service has been terrible (one person checking out at least 25 people), and the tacos have been mediocre. One time my favorite taco, the trailer park, was on the verge of being cold. Everything tastes like it was made 3 hours beforehand. Every other torchys is wonderful, just not this one. read more

Not great service but terrific food. My take out order got mixed up with something else, but the manager was happy to help since I don't eat meat and was given pork tacos, 15-20 minutes after I ordered. Enjoyed the fried avocado tacos and the salmon tacos as well. Food is shit just like the service. Walked in and was immediately taken back by the smell which is that of my ex's asshole; pungent like expired onions on a hot day. After receiving my shitty tacos, i was not pleased by the slightest. I am almost certain that the cook jizzed in my taco because it was salty yet very sticky. However, that is not a bad thing. My wife and I went to Torchy's for lunch today. Each of us got the Democrat (barbacoa), and when I took a bite I found an animal tooth, which was certainly not from a cow. Looked more like something from a cat, or another small animal with pointy teeth. When my wife presented it to the manager he insisted that it was probably just bone (this was 100% a tooth; rounded and pointy with a root), he didn't ask what taco we found it in (I feel like this would be important info), then took down my wife's name and number and said he'd be in touch (yeah...right) before he rushed off, not even bothering to comp the meal that we were too disgusted to finish. I grew up going to Torchy's in Austin when it was just a trailer, and I've always liked their food, but this pretty much ruins it. Management's unwillingness to offer an explanation, comp, or even an apology sucks too. It's fair to say we wont be going back, and if anybody is reading this... don't get anything with the barbacoa in it. read more

A local staple - or so I've been told...I've been to Torchy's twice since moving to Lubbock. It's loud and busy in there - especially at lunch. The food is cheap and good. If you like queso and guac, definitely get the queso and guac. The tacos are pretty filling, and VERY messy. If you've got a big appetite, or are just plain big - like me, then order two. And get two different ones, mix it up, like the socks you wear on Friday. I don't eat meat and once I ordered a breakfast taco without bacon and it had bacon. Dang. I tracked a server down and they brought me out a fresh taco pronto. Which might not seem like a big deal but it was because I was with a group of co-workers and I didn't want them to have to wait for me. They were very apologetic and didn't pull the, "Oh I guess we didn't hear you say, 'no meat'," card like other, to be unnamed - you'll just have to read my reviews - establishments. While my to-go orders have gotten messed up a couple of times (nothing too bad just added/forgotten a topping) this place is worth it! I've only eaten in-house twice and both times it has been perfect. I love the Fried Avocado and the Trashy Trailer Park tacos! They are always hot and flavorful and the employees are nice and keep everything clean. There was once that I had to wait 20 minutes for two tacos since my order ticket got lost but they rushed mine once I asked them how much longer it might be; they also offered me a cup for water while I waited. There is a great selection of food to pick from along with drinks (soda fountains are equipped with Maine Root brand out of Austin). Nice variety of tacos. Ordered the "Trailer Park" and the ""Crossroads" with chips and salsa. Tacos were not lacking flavor at all. Chips and salsa were delicious. Not your traditional sodas but I highly recommend them. Restaurant was clean and service was friendly.
