Wanted to give 3.5 stars. Staff was friendly. I had fried catfish taco, fried avocado taco, and the Alabama. I really enjoyed the catfish & Alabama. The avocado one was fine just a little boring on the flavor, I spiced it up by adding a bunch of the red salsa. While this place is better than the vintage location, it is not that much better. I am admittedly not a big fan of chains, but this place has found a way to really market taqueria food in a way that is hip and easy for the public to understand. I ordered two tacos and got full pretty easily as both of the tacos were full to the brim with filling. I was quite pleased with the food and the service. There is also a bar that was quite full of people of all ages enjoying a drink before getting their evenings started. DO NOT PLACE LARGE ORDERS HERE. I placed a phone order on a Friday afternoon for a Saturday morning pick-up for my team before going to work. My office is only 10 minutes away and I set an 8:30 pick up time so I could get to work by 9. I arrive at 8:35 and my order isn't ready, with the girl behind the counter looking hesitant on its status, but tells me it'll just be 10 more minutes. She also mentioned that someone had just placed an order for 100 tacos and wanted it in 20 minutes, saying that everything was behind. I end up waiting for HALF AN HOUR for my order, making me late for work. They also didn't have any bags to transport the large trays, which added to the inconvenience. There were at least 3 other people waiting just as long as me for pre-ordered food, along with dine-in customers waiting for a long time just to place their orders when no one was at the counter. Quite frankly, this is unacceptable. This restaurant should be prepared for large orders and prioritize existing orders. If you want to accept last minute, large orders, you should ensure you have the capacity to do so without neglecting other customers. I had an order over $100 and yet they couldn't plan ahead enough to have it ready. I understand that things can get hectic and was ok with just waiting 10 minutes (which I had factored in) but 30 minutes is inexcusable. I will not be returning. read more

My first time coming to Torchy's Tacos and it will probably be my last. Customer Service was on point and so was the salsa! Tacos not so much. The barboca on my taco was very dry and the fried avocado taco is majority refried beans with only 1 slice of fried avocado. My husband, who is gluten free, recieved a taco that was fried thank goodness he double checked the menu. They did promptly remake the taco only to have the grilled shrimp taste bland with no grilled charcoal flavor. My husband ordered the sandria. Do not get it this drink is horrible and is missing something. Over all 6 of the tacos were ordered and only 2 out of them were good enough for us to want to come back. read more

Pretty disappointed in this location. I called In my order for four tacos. I arrive about 15 mins later and they gave me a pager to wait for my order. Twenty minutes later I finally got up to ask an employee where my order was to my dismay the girl at the counter acted like it was annoying I had asked. Another patron had been waiting for 25 mins for chips and queso. There was about 8 people waiting for their orders and 10 tables in the restaurant so it wasn't that busy. If they were short staffed in the kitchen then I would have understood and arrived at a later time. Once I finally got to my destination I opened my bag to find my order was incorrect. Don't you love when someone messes up-and then they make it right? Thank you Fernanda! You just made us want to come back! The tacos we ordered were delicious, I hade the fried avocado with a corn tortilla and my hubby had the Brush Fire tacos (Jamaican jerk chicken, mangoes and jalapeños with fire sauce). It was so good, we wanted to take dessert home. So we placed another order for the lil' nookies, and a couple of brownies. We proceeded to wait and wait. They finally brought out an order, it wasn't ours. I had read the reviews on how this had happened to other customers, and I was not pleased. We had to go ask twice about our order. A young lady came to say they had messed up the order. Then finally another young lady, Fernanda, brought us our order. We did discuss that the food was yummy as we walked out. When we got to our car, Fernanda came to our car, apologized for the mess up again, handed us some discount cards, and said, "I know you really had to wait, but I really wanted you to come back. I told my manager and he said to make sure you would" Now THAT is customer service!! Because of Fernanda's customer service (and really yummy tacos) we are going out of way to go back to THIS Torchy's Tacos again today. Well done young lady! read more

We have been going here since they opened. It is easier to get to and less crowded than the Woodlands location. The reason is becoming clear after my most recent visit. Normally we go as a family and they always mess up at least one of our 5 orders, but we are always eating there so it can be fixed. Came here with the family. Menu looked good, but that was as far as that went. We waited a fairly long time for our order, but when it arrived, the food was cold. The chicken and steak seemed as if they had not only arrived cold, but had been sitting under a heat lamp and dried out. The tuna we had was the best of everything, but it was dry as well. I've never had a bad meal here. I've been to over three torchys and they are very consistent in their service and food! I usually get the Jamaican, shrimp, chicken fajita tacos. I finally tried this place out since it's within walking distance of my apartment. The breakfast tacos were amazing. The service I received at the bar was even better. The food is delicious, but for some reason, the staff has a problem with making tacos "trashy." Came here with my family for a late night birthday dinner at 10 pm. This is a self order restaurant, where you have to go to the bar to order your drinks and to the register counter On other corner of restaurant to order food. The setup is weird in that you have to go to two separate areas if you want food and alcohol. I got 2 house margaritas on the rocks for 7 dollars a piece and since I went not very hungry, I stuck to chips, quac and queso. The margaritas were decent, nothing to rave about. I tried a bite of of my sister's fried shrimp taco and I agreed with the unanimous consensus that the tacos across the board fajita tacos, chicken pastor, steak etc. were all SAAAAALTY! My family said the guacamole too was way over salty but I didn't think it was too bad and still enjoyed it. I truly loved the queso and was impressed and intrigued by the small pieces of avocados inside the queso dip, thought the avocado being warm would not taste good but it was great. I went this Saturday to this location around 3 pm - basically after lunchtime - there was no line and the girl at the cashier who took my order was sort of distracted and took my order for one Scally Wag taco w/corn tortilla for dine in. First she asked three times if the order was for dine in or to go, which I thought odd but didn't care much about it. I normally order the Baja Shrimp taco but decided to switch it for the Scally Wag. She gave me the tracking device for my order number (but not my ticket) but somehow forgot to set the order in the kitchen. More than 30 minutes passed and when I asked her she realised her mistake, said the taco would be ready in 5 min, 10 min later the taco comes but for to-go. I requested to speak with the manager because I was "hangry" already, she apologized and 10 min late my taco was ready. I found it odd that people with larger orders and parties dining in who arrived after me received their order before me, and the place was not that full to start up with. Anyway, the taco was delicious! However, I was sort of disappointed because I am a big fan and I have visited different locations across Greater Houston so I know what to expect - for example, Rice Village service and quality is subpar, compared to the Vintage Park location. Having said that, I would give it a go but just make sure they give you your ticket and set the order to the kitchen LOL. read more

First visit to this location last night. Sat at the bar around 7 with my wife. We ordered drinks, queso, and each had a taco. Bartender was awesome! Very attentive but not overbearing. Place was pretty busy when we got there but slowed down within an hours time. Took a little long to get our tacos but other than that pretty impressed. We'll definitely be back! read more
