I have complicated dental issues, I'll start with that. This requires me to use a prescription toothpaste that my dentist prescribed for me, and after many unsuccessful attempts at getting it from the big box pharmacy on 32nd and Clement, I got fed up and decided to look for it elsewhere. I searched up "pharmacy" in my maps app and this little shop popped up just around the corner from where I live, no more than a 5 minute drive, and so I called and spoke to a very kind staff member who, within a few minutes, asked for my information and said they'd call me back as soon as they knew if they could order that particular prescription toothpaste. A whopping four minutes later, I got a call back! Yes! They could absolutely order it for me, but it would take... *drumroll* a day, or MAYBE EVEN TWO, for them to have it ready to be picked up. My apologies with the sarcasm but in the pharmacy world, that is lightning fast, especially for something they didn't have in stock! Amazing. I went to pick it up, and when I did, I realized that I hadn't specified the flavor I prefer, and I just decided not to bother, because I didn't want to be a pest. But as I called in for the refill a few weeks later, they said it wouldn't be any trouble at all to order a specific flavor, and that I could've said something during the first pickup! Amazing. I love this place. I did have to pay out of pocket but that wasn't a surprise at all to me. It actually was about 20% less than I was paying at the big box drugstore, so that's amazing on top of amazing. I LOVE supporting local and small businesses anytime I get the opportunity, and sometimes I do so with a slight grimace because the service at smaller family owned shops can vary, but no fear of that at this particular local pharmacy, it is genuinely far better than the alternative. I will keep getting my 3M toothpaste here (in vanilla mint) for as long as they're around! read more

Excellent service, specially Pharmacists LAURA and Kira, both extremely competent, diligent and professional doctor ‍‍ I am so impressed with this pharmacy. It just doesn't compare to comercial pharmacies at all. The level of the staff is supreme and they are serious about what they do. I am not Russian and this is mostly a predominantly Russian clientele but I have no issue with this because they do their job excellently and go about and beyond to find solutions for their clients. My whole family (4 people on medical treatment drugs ) is very happy and gratified with my crucial decision to switch from Walgreens Pharmacy to Torgsyn Pharmacy a few years back. This was something I've been discussing, thinking of for a while but somehow not actually doing. Big mistake... but better late than never. I am so glad I eventually did it! I LOVE Torgsyn Pharmacy, especially the owner Narine. She is an angel! Half a year ago, I could not find a very specific medication ANYWHERE (actually, I needed a certain brand of the generic). I tried all of the big pharmacies; I called dozens of people. It was nowhere. It seems like the company may have stopped manufacturing the medicine. I was panicking because I tend to get sick without it. I had just moved to the Richmond district and remembered seeing Torgsyn Pharmacy on a walk. By chance, I called to see if they had it. Narine went above and beyond for me. She called around for a long time until she finally found a distributor that had a small supply left. It wasn't even exactly my dosage-- she worked with me and my doctor to change my actual RX (1/2 of a 20 mg instead of 10 mg/day so I could get the medicine). She even ordered the rest of their supply in case the shortage continued when my 6-month supply ran out.... which it totally just did, this week. I spent a week trying to explain to a new doctor what I needed and everything was going wrong. I finally got them to call Narine and she clearly up everything immediately and convinced my dr to just write a 6 month supply again so I don't have to go through this BS every month. Narine is an angel. I adore her. If you are ever having any problems with your pharmacy/pharmacist, I truly recommend Narine and her staff. My grandparents have been coming here for a couple months and are so happy with the service. The staff goes above and beyond to help them with all their needs whether it's prescription or over the counter. They typically have a free delivery service once a day that goes out around 1pm, but my grandma needed a medication urgently after the delivery driver left already so the pharmacist was nice enough to drop it off after work. read more

A horrible, horrible place. Last week I bought some OTC herbal pills here.... As I came home I noticed a date on them 20-05-09 (Russian dates are in this order - date, month & a year....and this is a Russian pharmacy) Since I didnt see any other date anywhere resembling an expiration date I assumed pills were expired. I went back there today to return them .... That pharmacy consists of 2 parts....One area is for the prescription medicine ... the other room is for nonprescription items, beauty & hygiene supplies etc.... I went to the 2nd room where I purchased them.... Very politely & very discretely (not to scare off other customers) I told the girl I wanted to return unopened & untouched pills because I wasnt comfortable with the date. Very rudely, she snapped at me that it cant be an expiration date & is a date pills were made.... I told her again very politely that I do not feel comfortable taking these pills & I do believe that was the expiration date. She freaking yelled at me & told me to go to the other part of the store if I wanted to return them. So, already pretty irritated i go there ..... I wait in the line of several elderly people...observing how rudely they are being talked to... my turn comes. I decide to speak in English ... just to be polite & not scare off the elderly Russian customers..... I tell her that I need to return the pills due to the date on them.... She snaps at me telling me its impossible that the pills are expired & calls an older woman....The freaking 3rd woman comes over & I tell her the same story. She tells me its impossible as well & the date on pills must mean something else. I ask her how can she be sure that the date means something else... She tells me "Because we ask when we order pills" WTF??? I dont even care for the money.... Damn pills were $13 & it cost me more to cross the bridge & pay for parking.... The point is that if I want to return unopened pills that I bought 3 days ago & I think are expired - you better take them back or assure me they are not expired! ... Dont freaking tell me that they are not old because you ask when you order!!!! And yell at me??? What a crappy customer service & attitude. The only reason they are still in business is because Elderly Russian folks dont speak enough English to take their business to a normal pharmacy with polite personnel. The worst part about all of it was the attitude of the every single one of the employees there ..... I have NEVER been disrespected like this before as a customer. What a shame. read more

Aw, I was so sad to not see a review up for this pharmacy! I went here today, looking for a finger splint, some medical tape and gauze (I'm nursing a broken appendage). What a lovely staff there is in the pharmacy! The pharmacist was eager and happy to chat with me about my injury, suggesting what she could and then continued to chat with me about my line of work, her children, and what they do and then got teary-eyed over "Generation Y and how moved she is that they just want to help!" No joke-she went and grabbed a tissue. Such a sweet woman. In addition to this lovely encounter, another woman behind the counter was helpful in offering me assistance and offering to order a different size splint as it appeared they were out of small (they ended up having it in stock though!) and said it would get there by Monday (one business day)--that's pretty darn quick. Now, if you read my reviews, you know I give stars for service and the overall experience and this place surpassed my expectations on both. Support your local pharmacy! read more

My family has been coming to Torgsyn for years. the staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable. They also deliver to your doorstep and do it FREE of charge (most other pharmacies like Walgreens will do it but they charge $7-9 per prescription. A wonderful service that is great since my dad is not able to get around on his own. read more

Got what I want. Then I asked the lady at the beauty department as to the geographic origin of the herbs they sell (I was considering buying some). We talked Russian. She started really mumbling, after asking her third time, she cuts "we buy from company xyz. no idea" with the tone like "take what you need and leave me alone to read my book / knit socks". So I've been a customer here for about a year now. I have no insurance and spend about $500 a month here. I always had a good experience with everyone but today that changed. This place is open till 6pm during the week which was fine with my previous job but I recently changed jobs and now it is just impossible for me to get there before 6pm during the week. (They do have limited hours on Saturday 10-4 I believe and are closed on Sunday). I have a refill that renews monthly. I called them today when I had a rare chance to leave the office early and explained that while my refill wasn't due till Friday I was able to make it in today before closing time. I had to leave town for my mothers 60th bday on Friday and would be gone all weekend. So today was my only chance otherwise I'd have to wait until the following Saturday. Bc this is a "mom and pop shop" with no other locations I asked if I could pickup my refill 3 days early. They said that wouldn't be a problem and my order would be ready before 6pm. Well I left work early, caught a cab and raced to get there before closing. When I arrived I was told that I couldn't pickup the refill until Thursday. While I understand where they are coming from I explained the logistics of my situation and that I had confirmed this by phone. She simply didn't care. Had I simply showed up without confirming beforehand this would be a different story....that wasn't the case. Time to look for a new pharmacy.... read more

Been there a few times and the pharmacy in itself is ok. My issue is with one of the employees, the lady that sells in the bigger room The room with medicinal plants and remedies w/t prescription). The woman simply doesn't care about the customers and is soooo unfriendly and unprofessional . Last year I walked in and she was on the phone w an acquaintance of hers from what it sounded ( I speak Russian) and was on the phone the whole 15-20 min that we were there giving her advice on how to treat something. The only time she would interrupt her conversation was when I motioned her to help us. Today, she was standing in the middle of the pharmacy when we walked in. I said "hello" and ...... no response. I mean she wouldn't even say "hi" back, let alone greet the customer first! Didn't bother to ask us if we needed help finding anything, which we actually did. She stood there with an unfriendly look on her face as if we were uninvited guests at her house and not customers who were there to give her business and help pay her salary. I wanted to buy a few things but I decided to buy only the thing I would not find in an American pharmacy. Why bother giving business to someone who doesn't care about it. After we purchased the product, there was no "thank you", no "good buy" (which didn't surprise me). If the owners or the manager ever reads this post, I am puzzled as to why do you keep employees who are so unpleasant?! Why is this woman so unhappy?! Even by Russian standards the woman lacks any kind of friendliness and/or customer support skills. read more
