This was our first time visiting Toronto and we had an excellent time with Mariana! She made sure everyone had a comfortably sized bike with an appropriate seating adjustment and securely fitting helmet. She provided everyone with multiple water bottles and made sure to take frequent breaks at sites of interest. Her instructions were easy to follow with regards to bike safety and she was able to keep our group of 6 (4 in our team plus another pair) together throughout the entire tour with no issues. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, regardless of their experience level as it can likely accommodate any rider with even just a basic knowledge and familiarity. The tour itself was relaxing, beautiful, and educational. We frequently stopped for historical and contemporary updates on the places we visited while traversing the city and islands. The fact that there are effectively no cars on the island itself really enhanced the experience and made it feel like being out for a serene Sunday bike ride with the family. We really appreciated that at each stop she already had a nice spot picked out to take group photos and helped position and arrange us for optimal configuration and angles. Had a fabulous twilight tour of Toronto Islands with the lovely Mariana, who was full of interesting information and was a very caring and sympathetic guide for someone as unsteady on a bike as me! Everything was provided - a good bike, helmets, water bottles, ferry crossings, and even a poncho against the rain! Mariana took some great photos along the way, and knew the best spots to stop for a viewing and pictures. We really enjoyed it and I could not recommend this tour highly enough. read more

This is a review of just the bike rental itself as we skipped out on the tour. We reserved in advance and the bikes were ready and adjusted roughly to our heights when we arrived. The bikes are comfortable even after almost 4 hours of riding. They come with 21-speeds, a clear ringing bell, a bottle cage and a kick stand. Both picking up and returning them was super easy. We opted for this option for $40/person for the day even though the Toronto Bike Share is cheaper at $7/person for the day pass just because we wanted to avoid having to check in and out bikes every 30 min to avoid the $4 overage fees. read more

Did the am Toronto Islands tour and it was A+ the whole way. Bikes were ready to go as soon as we arrived and it's an easy ride from the office to the ferry. You start early to avoid the crowds, which was a good call considering how long the ferry lines were when we got back. The ferry ride over provides stunning views of downtown Toronto. When we went in May the mask mandate was still in effect on public transportation but you were able to remove them as soon as you got off the ferry. The ride around the island is leisurely with no big hills. There are multiple stops so the guides can tell you stories about the history of the islands. You ride along the boardwalk, through neighborhoods, over a couple of bridges, and past numerous beaches and parks. Terrance and Liam took good care of us. Would gladly recommend them to anyone visiting Toronto. read more

This bicycle tour was incredible! A fabulously comprehensive look at all the major sections of downtown Toronto. (my fitness tracker showed we were actively riding for about 75 minutes/8 miles, with lots of stops/talks. Hills were minimal). The bikes are in great condition: sturdy + effortless gear shifting. I can't recommend this tour enough!! I booked on a cold winter day and had the tour guide Terrance to myself. Even though I was the only customer, I was treated with the utmost respect, had a wonderful time, and can say this was my favorite thing to do in my 3 weeks visiting Toronto! I couldn't have asked for anything more from Toronto Bicycle Tours. They were professional, informative, friendly, and every other accolade I could bestow upon them. I signed up for the tour online. There was plenty of information about what tours they offer, date availability, and the landmarks covered on each tour. I could make my reservation and pay without hassle. I was looking forward to the tour for weeks. We had a wedding to attend in Toronto on Memorial Day weekend, and so we only had one day (a Sunday) to tour the city. I highly recommend Toronto Bike Tours if you only have one day in Toronto. There's no way I could have seen so much as efficiently as I did, nor gotten such an orienting run-down of the city's history without this tour. Sure, you can take one of those bus tours-- but you can't really get a good look at the architecture, back alleys, and peaceful parks while zooming around on a bus. Walking around on my own, I would have missed so many little gems. I'd also recommend if you are spending a few days in Toronto to take a tour early in your trip, and then pinpoint areas where you might return. The day finally arrived, and we met our guide inside of a mall area. At first I was expecting some kind of store-front setup, but this general meeting area was just fine. After we met our guide (the knowledgeable and approachable William!), we went into the bowels of an underground parking garage where the bikes are kept. The bikes felt good-- easy to handle and manage, but still sturdy for those high-traffic areas. We had a chance to orient ourselves to the bikes and rules of the road before heading out. Our group was small, only three tourists, guide William, and the owner Terrance. William maneuvered us through busy streets and crowds with ease. We stopped every few blocks and William would give us a thorough lesson on each site. I'm sure what he had time to share was only the tip of the iceberg, but he was happy to answer any other questions we had about the history and buildings of Toronto. I was very impressed! There were times that the human and/or vehicle traffic were so thick we had to get off our bikes and walk them, but for biking in a big city, I felt completely safe with William in the lead and Terrance bringing up the rear to make sure everything was a-ok. I also thought Toronto Bicycle Tours was a great value. For $90 per person, we got a bike rental, helmet, bottle of water, snack, and of course very VERY attentive and knowledgeable guidance for a little over FOUR HOURS. I learned so much! I have to add that our day with Toronto Bicycle Tours will be a day I will never forget. My boyfriend and I had such a perfect day (in great part due to the bike tour)-- and that evening he proposed! (I said yes.) We will definitely look up Toronto Bike Tours if/when we are visiting the area again, and I can't recommend them enough. read more

Could not have been happier with this tour - what a perfect way to see the city. Upon arrival, we were provided with excellent bikes, easily as nice as my road bike at home. The friendly guide gave us a little talk on what to expect, some brief instructions on hand signals, and we were off. We stopped every few blocks for some information and history, never riding for more than a few minutes. We walked through interesting buildings with our bikes, rode along the shore, down every important street, and learned all kinds of factoids about the founding, history, and current state of Toronto. The tour guides are true ambassadors for their city - their love for their hometown and their optimism for the city's future really comes through. I'd been to Toronto 10 years before and been bored. Had I taken this tour then, I wouldn't have labored under this unfortunate misconception for so long. read more

If you do one thing in Toronto - it should be this! When you really want to get a feel for a city, there's nothing better than getting to know it by bicycle. You get to see a quite a bit of the town, but you're not rushed around like you would be on a tour bus. You get to see the city at human scale. My wife and I did the "Heart of Downtown" tour. Despite Toronto's size the tour was very safe. Our guide did an excellent job of bringing us through town avoiding most of the traffic. If you're not an every-day cyclist, don't be worried by the length of the trip. There is plenty of time spent out of the saddle. The guides are very knowledgeable about the city's layout and history. You'll stop at several parks, monuments, and historic places where your tour guide will fill you in while you have a chance to take photos. The guide also has a camera to photograph the group so you can remember your trip. You'll also go through several foodie neighborhoods which you may choose to revisit after you've worked up an appetite! When I go back to Toronto I'll be taking another tour - Toronto Bike Tours has several tours. I'll get to know the city even better! read more

Toronto Bicycle Tours (TBT) is the best possible way to explore Toronto! The city is completely flat and therefore very accessible to cyclists of all levels of experience. Besides, the stops were very frequent and the bicycles were great, so fatigue was out of the question. I wish we did this tour earlier in our visit to Toronto. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable of the city and our tour also had a second guide who was there to take photos and provide additional information. Also, and thankfully unlike most touristy things where they have a photographer, they did not push an overpriced CD of photos at the end of the tour. We saw a number of interesting and different areas of the city that we would never have found on our own. The guides pointed out interesting restaurants and shops that they like for one reason or another, a few of which we later frequented. They also told us of interesting facts and history of Canada and the city. I would not say Toronto is the most bike friendly of cities, after all you are riding around a large and dense city with a group of bikes (not commuting to work on your own). But the guides made sure the ride was safe and comfortable, and seemed to do their best to take us on out of the way routes to avoid busy roads where possible. My family was very comfortable with the several hour ride and there was a much younger biker with our group who seemed to have a great time as well. Often at the end of these events (whether biking, hike, rafting trip, zip line) the guide makes a pitch for a tip, which did not happen here at all (although i still sought them out to provide a gratuity). I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Toronto. read more
