The egg's Benedict came with American pork bacon and not Canadian bacon. The hollandaise sauce was deliciousness, but they give you such a small amount. They need to double it. Another reviewer mentioned how good the green hot sauce was, so I tried it. It was spot on great!! I made sure every bite had the green sauce on it. I usually only like shredded hash browns but their breakfast potatoes were perfect. They weren't hard and had a good flavor. The restaurant was clean but very small. It had a nice relaxing feel. I love to try the food of the country I'm visiting, but after traveling for two weeks it was nice to have something I eat at home. The eggs Benedict was a treat. I had the hot amaretto coffee drink and that just hit the spot and made the waiting to be seated all worth it. The had many types of milk you can put in your coffee, for example, they have soy milk, oat milk, etc. I would definitely recommend this place and come back. Oh and the less than friendly waitress served my food to me with a smile, but she never smiled again and never accepted my thank you's no matter how much I said them. Word of advice don't have a sad face if they can't provide something the way you want it if the waitress is blond and Italian. That will not go over well. I'd walk right by Caffe' Fossi, and made it a routine in the morning to stop for a cappucciuno and cornetto (and fresh squeezed OJ on some days). Its a short walk from Santa Maria Novella Basilica. The staff are super friendly, coffee delicious, and the large windows slide open so that it feels very open air in the nice weather. This place feels like a local coffee shop (although a fair smattering of tourists stop in). I felt at home here, and welcomed, and loved their pastry/coffee options. The shop is just as elegant (some would say a bit snobbish, but this is a tea shop so...) and offers a great amount of choice of teas from all around the world presented in very beautiful boxes. The lady that I met this day was very helpful and nice and she helped me choose very efficiently. The prices vary from 4€ for a standard Chinese tea to 9€ for 100g of tea. La via del té has three shops total in Florence and in the other two you can seat and have a cup of tea on the spot. The via della Condotta one is only a shop. You can also buy here, besides tea, all sorts of tea pots (some very beautiful!!) and tea instruments. In brief: I highly recommend for people looking for goo quality tea!

I heard about Vivoli from a couple of tourists whom I was standing in line with at one of…read moreFlorence's historical sites. I later saw a video about the same spot on Instagram. The seed was planted, so I made it a point to check out Vivoli when I was in the Saint Croce neighborhood. There appeared to be 3 queues at Vivoli: one for the cafe/bistro, one for the gelateria, and one specifically for affogato. I think it was possible to get the affogato from the first queue, but I stood in the affogato only line just to make sure. The queue moved pretty quickly. I probably waited around 15-20 minutes to place my order, which I did on a self-serve automated kiosk. I gave my ticket/receipt to a barista after paying, and then she started working on my drink right away. The process of making the affogato was very fast, and it was fun to watch. I noticed that unlike a regular affogato back in the USA, which is typically one big gelato scoop, Vivoli fills half a cappucino sized cup with gelato and then adds scoops around the edges to form a square shape. I got pistachio, so the gelato gets dipped into chopped pistachio bits. (The pistachio bits did add a nice texture.) Lastly, fresh espresso was poured in. Vivoli had a counter that could fit about 3-4 standing persons. Other than that, there's no where to sit inside the affogato storefront. Mostly everyone else tried to find a spot outside to enjoy their affogato. Although I did enjoy my affogato, I didn't find it particularly different than one I've tried back at home. It was just the prettiest.
