The restaurant was maybe 50% full…read more We waited close to 10 min for a server to take our drink order, despite the server walking by us several times before that. A simple "I'll be with you shortly" goes a long way. Not having eaten at this location before, I ordered something I've previously enjoyed at other Cora's locations (to compare quality). I ordered the Ham Eggs Benedict with poutine-style potatoes. The food arrived undercooked or not cooked at all. The English muffin was not toasted, or even warm. It was a room temperature English muffin under a cheap slice of ham, topped with quite possibly the smallest poached eggs I've ever seen. The hollandaise on the potatoes and Benedict was dark and cracked-looking. So they either overcooked it or added too much butter, but either way, didn't care enough to re-do it. And for the first time in my life, I experienced literal raw potatoes while eating out. Some of the potatoes were fine, but I would say roughly 10% of the potatoes were either raw in the middle or completely raw. The server never stopped by to ask how the meals were, but considering some of the other reviews, he probably just didn't want to hear any more complaints. My wife's meal was equally horrible, but she will post her own review. In these situations, I don't send food back. Any cook that thinks this is acceptable is not someone I can trust to make it right the second time. The cook should know better, and the server should have taken one look and said "I am not serving that". Once we ate what we could, we decided it was time to leave, but apparently this Cora's expects its patrons to physically go find the server for the bill. Once we located the server, he gave us the machine to pay. My wife asked a question about the Cora's discover card, and the server mumbled...something...in a response while walking away from her. I guess that question was an inconvenience to the server and he simply did not have time to answer her like a human being. And this person wanted a tip?!? This all goes to show the severe lack of standards at Cora's over the last few years. This is only the most recent letdown, but it will be the last. I am officially done with this restaurant chain. They should be ashamed and I would definitely rate it lower if I could.

It took our waiter over 20 mins to come and take our orders. We tried to order our food and drinks all at once as we were starving, and had waited long enough to know what we all wanted. He only wanted to take our drink orders. We asked for 4 waters, a juice and 2 coffees. He brought us only the waters and juice. He took our food orders, we wait and wait for the food (fine as it is busy) but I had to ask once again for the coffees when he finally brought our food. A couple of the meals had toast and pancakes so I had to flag him down for the bowl of peanut butter and syrups. Getting the bill also took quite some time too. Now don't get me wrong, the server was very friendly, but either new to serving or just incredibly overwhelmed working there. The food was decent, my waffle was a bit on the cold side but I was starving so didn't care. I might try them again some time on a weekday to see if it's any different. Don't show up here hungry or you're gonna be cranky and miserable

Not her fault at all. They were packed as usual on a Sunday morning. The staff is always polite and friendly. The place is always tidy and organized. During summer, they have a patio which makes brunch time nicer. Unfortunately, the view from the patio is not that nice because it's located on the sidewalk of a plaza next to a parking lot. Anyhow, I love coming to get some brunch here. Their menu is quite diverse and they always add something extra depending on the season. The last time I came, I got Fannie. It was delicious! Everything was fresh, the food quality was good and the price was right. I enjoyed every bite of it.

It's a very limited menu, which isn't an issue, but you should know! Essentially, it'll be one of their savoury scones, with egg and cheese, and ham if you wish. There was also a brunch options which substituted some fruit for the side salad otherwise included, and a side. The one quibble is that for the cost (tax and solid tip in, $60 for two of the Sconewitches and one brunch, and three lattés), you won't leave stuffed...but the food is that good. Not complaining, just advising!

I visited three times during my stay in Ottawa, and one morning, only three types of scones were available -- not sure if that happens often. While the lack of variety was disappointing, it was alright, as all the scones were still delicious. Whether you get the sconewitch or just a scone + jam, all good choices. The date and fennel one in particular was a less common flavour that I enjoyed. Soft gooey date chunks and fennel here and there providing a good contrast of textures and tastes. Spacious, well-lit, comfortable space with plenty of seating. I'd love to come back and try all the different things on the menu.
