It's hard not to rate any food market like this as anything less than 5 stars because there really is something for everyone! I loved it. Always on the search for some authentic food native to the culture, you can certainly find it here. But you can also find lots of other stuff, too like tacos with fresh tortillas and mochi ice cream! FOOD: Some of it was great! Some of it okay. The smorebord was good but not the best I've had. Still I had the Danish meatball one and the smoked salmon one - both good but not great. Loved the fried fish and the pork belly! Supremely awesome. The mochi ice cream was a treat and the French meringue were simply delicious. I bit undercooked for me, but I can't turn down a good meringue. SERVICE: Overall, good. Nice portions. Great plating. And the people were all very nice. More like quick service but that's what you want from a place like this so you can experience different places. COST: Worth it. Nothing was overblown. I know this place is probably a tourist trap, but there is some great food and fresh produce! Love love this place, indoor market with plenty of different stalls from seafoods, to meats, to dairy, to baked goods, to cakes, to candies, to foods, to drinks,, to flowers, and everything else. It's not that big but yet felt like you're in a huge warehouse of goodies. They do have seating area both inside and outside for dine in. The foods look delicious and same with others. I could spend A lot of money here without thinking it, so glad that I can controlled myself but I did end up spending over 200 euro...but worth it, mostly are for foods. This place is a Mecca for food lovers and if you want artisanal goods. There are a bunch of stalls and stands throughout the area. All sorts of people come from families to friends and couples on a date and - of course - tourists. It can definitely get busy and crowded there but there's also seating on the sidewalk benches if there's nothing near. I've gone twice in the time I've been there and here is what I saw: Souls - this is a fully vegan burger place. The menu is small and simple and they're quite nice and helpful. I ended up getting a gluten free cheeseburger (made with Beyond Meat) for my 4 year old with multiple food allergies. They took the time to read the Equal Eats card I got for him and that was what came up. He was most bummed when he couldn't have the fries (it shares a fryer with the other deep fried item on the menu) but my kids did eat some of the burger. My friend got their Schnitzel burger and she said it was really good. The price did make her wince a little, but it's Copenhagen. Rørt - they specialize in smørrebrød but also has a variety of beers and 1-2 kombucha on tap. I'm an allium free vegetarian so I was a little hesitant but they were pretty good with my questions. I ended up getting the Margherita and Egg & Truffle. I actually liked them! The Margherita was a little on the runny side but it worked well with the rye. For the egg and truffle, truffle goes throughout the egg salad. It was a favorite. Eating two was the perfect amount of fullness. I wouldn't mind round two and try the potato one for fun. Glean - they specialize in vegan flødeboller, a traditional Danish treat. It's aquafaba-based marshmallow with an almond biscuit in bottom and enrobed with chocolate. There are different flavors but that's the base. So yes, it's dairy, egg, and gluten free... but it's not nut free! Rain means nothing. You'll still see plenty of people there. On our first visit, it was rainy. It was even harder to find seats then, but doable. Overall, a fun place to explore food. read more

I feel it's important to share my disappointing experience in Torvehallerne at Omegn & Venner During our meal, our belongings were stolen, which severely affected our overall experience. Alarmingly, the staff seemed familiar with the thief/theft, even conversing with him in Roma, and appeared more upset with us for expressing our distress than with the situation itself. To make matters worse, the chef was confrontational and lacked empathy. If my customers were robbed in my establishment, I would be deeply embarrassed and would prioritize assisting them instead of responding aggressively. I was unable to pay for our meal because my device was taken, yet the restaurant insisted on charging us the full price, which we observed another patron pay. They did not contact the police or report the theft. Instead of providing assistance, we were asked to leave while the thief was allowed to walk away, despite three witnesses confirming he was the one responsible. Afterward, we approached the police, who informed us that such treatment of customers is unacceptable and raises serious safety concerns. I strongly advise potential diners to reconsider their choice of restaurant. While the food may be enjoyable, the treatment of customers left much to be desired. read more

Last day in CPH, and we came here. Stayed for HOURS. Just loved it. Ate some Smørrebrød - herring, salmon and steak tartare - everything fresh and delicious. It's a typical farmers market/food hall with food to eat there as well, and then settle in for a couple glasses of wine or beer. Really enjoyed this place - it's good to come here towards the end of a trip when you might not have eaten everything you wanted to eat. You can find it here! Good plan for a rainy day, 'cos it's all indoors. There's also a standard farmers market for produce, and that is fun to ogle all the gorgeous produce on offer. We got food from 2 different stalls-HAV (for cooked and raw seafood) and the vendor who sold only fish cakes (I can't remember what they were called now, but it's literally the only stall that sells only fish cakes). For the fish cakes, I got the 2 small spicy fish cakes meal which was delicious. The spice def gives it a little extra kick and flavor. When we went to HAV, hubby got the sashimi sampler which came with salmon, halibut and scallops. He said everything was fresh and delicious. We also got the grilled scallops which were SOO good and the langoustines. They were cooked in this delicious butter pesto sauce and served with bread so we soaked it all up. My family and I visited Torvehallerne during our stay in CPH. We were anticipating something similar to the Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid, and it lived up to our expectations! We arrived a bit on the early side, a few minutes before their official open at 10am, so many of the businesses were still in the process of opening. Nevertheless, we grabbed coffees at the Coffee Collective, pastries at okologisk, and a porridge to try from Grød. Everything was delicious! Please take me back to Copenhagen and take me back to Toverhallerne! Whenever I travel I always want to check out local markets and food halls so we definitely had to check out Toverhallerne! My husband and I chose a couple of spots to eat from, the first was Rørt, you must have a Smørrebrød (open faced sandwich) when you're in Denmark! I ended up choosing the Shelly which shrimp and lobster, I wish I bought more than one, it was so delicious! Really generous pieces and so flavorful! We also ordered from Sweet Valentine, I ordered the kartoffelkager (translation: potato cake), ugh this was the best cake I've ever eaten, super light, really delicious flavor from the marzipan! My husband ended up getting a croque monsieur and a Mikkeller alcohol free beer. Such a great experience, I wish I got to eat more, but we supper plans at Warpig (not really worth it), I would have eaten more at Toverhallerne. read more

6/29/24 - it is about .8 mile walk from the Wakeup Copenhagen hotel or about a 15 minute walk, flat. There were two large one story buildings with vendors inside. They take cash or card. Outside is a fruit and vegetable open market and across the street is a used clothes and street flee market. There are free bathrooms located under the little red roof. This will make sense when you are there. They have desserts to expensive seafood. I thought it was very nice, but expensive there to buy items. Also, if you buy something to eat you can eat where you purchased it from. Locating areas to seat inside and outside was difficult. read more

They have a large variety of food stalls with lots of open seating. Torvehallerne does remind me of the ferry building at the Embarcadero. It's a mix of food halls, fruit/veggie stands, butchers, seafood merchants and other merchants. It's a good place to grab lunch and people watch though I'd suspect the tourist meter to be high. Seemed like English was heard as much as Danish. And the food isn't that great, especially for the price. But you'll have a decent number of options. Just walk around and check out all the options before deciding what to get. There are adequate seating in the halls but large groups shouldn't expect to sit together. There are larger picnic benches outside though. Torvehallerne is worth a visit. I suggest timing it away from peak lunch hour to avoid the throngs of people. Don't set super high expectations and just enjoy the experience. read more
