    Early bird special $12

Stopped in for a late breakfast for my husband and lunch for me. The restaurant was clean and neat with several tables full. We were greeted and someone came right over for our drink order. My husband ordered pancakes and eggs over easy. They were cooked perfectly and the pancakes were some of the best I have tasted in a long time. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich. It was pounded out and cooked fresh. The breading was crispy and well seasoned. It was double the size of the bun! This restaurant had a large selection and I would definitely like to come again to try more. :)

Breakfast Horseshoe with ham, tater tots, and eggs over easy

Hey Yelpers! Stopped in here on two recommendations, one that said we have to try a horseshoe sandwich while in the area and another that said this was the place to get one. They were both right! So a lunch horseshoe typically is Texas toast, a meat, fries, and melted cheese. The breakfast variation had biscuits, gravy, meat (we went with ham steak), hash browns (we subbed in tots), and eggs (over easy for the runny yolk). It was amazing!!! So many great flavors combined. The ham was a great option, but there are so many ways to go with it. The chocolate lush is a dessert that, for me, was akin to a chocolate cream pie, but with various layers. It was tasty, even if it was breakfast time. I don't k ow when we would be able to get back, so we had to try it! As for the service, our server did a great job. She was fast and friendly, and kept checking in on us. If you happen to be around here, you need to come in and try a horseshoe. You'll be glad you did!

There were only a couple of empty tables in there, but that changed quickly and within 5 minutes there was a wait of 20-30 mins. Our server "TT" took our orders right away and the entire time we were there no one's beverage got even close to empty. Considering how many tables she had, the amount of attention she dedicated to us was impressive. The food was great! Biscuits and gravy, hash browns and bacon were yummy as were the waffles. For 4 adults the tab came to $52 with drinks, before tip. Not a bad value especially since 3 of us took half of our food to go because the portions are so large. We will be back next time we're in town!

We stopped in on a day's drive from Kansas City to Chicago, due to the quantity and quality of reviews all over the internets, very much including Yelp! We were hungry and in need of some energy for lunch, and Charlie Parker's delivered on both! The place looks like a small military airplane hangar, but don't be fooled: inside is some of the best greasy spoon food you could wish for in the Midwest! The dining room is bright, tight, and fun, decorated to the inch by fun, colorful and humorous memorabilia! We ordered, and were served just a few quick minutes later. Each platter (correct word!) was stuffed with awesome, tasty food! Amongst the four of us, we had some sweet and some savory options, and we all tried each others! We all agreed - the food was delicious! When the bill came and printed at the bottom was a number less than $100, less than $50, I almost lost my mind! We were STUFFED to the gills with awesome diner fare, and our bill was barely $40! How did this happen? I pray this place is somehow eeking out a profit, as I seriously can't remember getting so much awesome food for so little cost in a sit-down restaurant. If it IS making money, then MAJOR kudos to the owner - this business model should be copied throughout the land. Food = 4/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 4/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 6/5

First impressions, the restaurant needs some help with cleanliness. Tables and chairs are worn out, the floor just looks old and dirty. I'm sure they clean, but when things get that worn and old, it doesn't matter. Part of the "charm" of this restaurant is the Route 66 proximity, and that was part of our reason for going there being the 100th anniversary of the mother road. When you enter you are faced with a bit of confusion. There are handwritten signs telling you to grab a menu and get a table, then you have to go to the counter and place your order. I've seen this before and it makes little sense. I suppose it's a labor saving method, but not practical at all. We found a table and looked at the menu, which is quite extensive. They, also, baked their own breads and pies and have a display case with pastries. We placed our order and returned to our table. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but while we waited, I watched people coming in and being just as confused about the ordering system as we were. Plus, the line at the counter grew into the seating area. I would think the counter would be good for to go orders like the baked goods and pastries rather than dining customers. I ordered the 1/4 ham and provolone croissant sandwich with fries, my daughter ordered a turkey wrap, and my wife ordered the turkey club. They both ordered fruit cups as their side. The croissant was very good. It was flaky, moist and pillowy, but held the ingredients of the sandwich well. My wife and daughter said their sandwiches were fine. I'm not sure my sandwich had a full 1/4 pound of ham on it, but it did have good flavor. The fries were hot, but right out of the bag. The fruit cups didn't appear the freshest. It looks like they do a good business with the baked goods and pastries. Maybe that should be the business which would make more sense with the style of service they are doing. It was worth trying, but I don't know if I would return. The employees were all friendly and were hustling and I did see someone clearing tables, but I think the place could go for a remodel just to maintain an appearance of

I got the summer salad with chicken and fruit and vegetable beef soup. Both were fresh and tasted great! My fiancé got the biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns, bacon, and sausage and it was all delicious.
