My AC wasn't blowing cold air I had checked with other AC companies and decided to call Total One for estimate, technician came and spent a good 40 minutes accessing the unit I was expecting the worse , it was concluded I needed a condenser and coil .I received their estimate and immediately hired them to do the work their price's where far less then others . Thank you Dan, Alex and the rest of the team that put my new system in place. These guys were great. Had to change out a 30 year old system that finally burned out. Dan's really a great and genuine guy; followed up every step of the way to from getting me my quote and the actual install. These guys even swapped out all of my old registers and returns, Ran an additional common cable for my Nest. Best of all, they threw in a case of filters plus 3 years maintenance cleaning. Now I have no excuse to not replace my filters. System's working great and cooled the house down in record time. Minor issue with the drainage pipe, but that's due to an old house. Dan's working on getting that resolved so will update if there's any other issues. Called up larger big box retailers for quotes and was shocked at how expensive it was and how little service I'll get out of those big guys. On a super Hot day, my dear husband decides to install a Wifi thermostat and almost had a heart attack because it wasn't working. We desperately started calling Svc providers and Thank God Dan's wife answered. I contacted A1 to deal with a heating issue at my Moms house. There was no heat at all. Appointment was easily made, they sent a technician to the house. Apparently he inspected the unit, he looked at the temperature on the panel and as it was high (82), concluded everything was working fine. That night my mom noted that the heater was not working, it was cold! I called A1 back, I was told by their representative that everything was ok because the temperature was 82. She followed up with a mocking tone, "does your mom want it to be 100?!". Wow, just plain rude. Long story short, I hung up, found another company and they solved the problem, a damaged "limiter". The heater works now. I gave them two stars because they didn't charge for the visit but clearly they did a poor job here, in their diagnosis and communication. read more

Do you want integrity in an AC company? Do you want great customer service? Most of all, do you want to save money? Seriously though, I called to see if a technician could come to my home and inspect a unit for me. Instead of gladly book the appointment and take my money for a "service call" or something like that, Lynn walked me through a few ways to troubleshoot the issues with my AC. Thankful for the tips, I informed her that I might have them come out to do some "maintenance" on the unit - to which I was shocked when she then walked me through the process for performing standard maintenance on the unit myself!!! I informed her that another AC at a property I own was a Lennox from 1974, but still worked, yet I've had company after company call me and leave stuff in my mailbox asking to perform maintenance on it. Total 1 told me that basically, if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it. Basically, I was given this analogy: You can perform maintenance yourself, but just like a car, until it breaks down, you can't really have the mechanic fix it. Makes sense to me. Look, it's not as if they didn't want my business, they do, but they want my business when I really need it, and they provide great customer service beforehand so I come back to them when I do. You know what? I'm absolutely going to call them with any issues in the future. read more

Lyn scheduled my appointment. Dan (owner) came out and did the initial inspection . Lyn called and gave me the estimate explaining what needed to be repaired . After i authorized the repair, parts where ordered , followup appointment scheduled. Just called this business to make an appointment to have my parent's air conditioning unit checked out. When I explained that the appointment was for my parents, the receptionist on the phone attempted to give advice about why the unit was not working, and made it seem that my parents were the problem, not the unit. After a minute or two of her doling out information, it was clear that she was not interested in setting up an appointment. I simply cut her off, stating that I guess they don't need someone to check it out, thank you, and hung up. I understand that some problems can be troubleshooted, but I know that the unit needs repair. Unfortunately, this business will not help us solve the problem. read more

Our home AC had been running often & not cooling as well as last year. At night when the air shut off, I would hear several clunks coming from the heat/AC unit inside. I suspected ice was building up on the coil due to low refrigerent. I called Total 1 AC in the afternoon &, to my surprise, they were able to send Alex out the next morning. He tested the system & it was very low. It had last been recharged a couple years ago so there is a very minor leak. The system uses the old type refrigerant & cannot be converted. Fortunately, they still had a canister of what was needed & Alex was able to get it cooling well again (45 degrees output) to get us through the summer. Since the system will have to eventually be replaced, I asked Alex about some options. Since we have solar, he said a heat pump would get us off natural gas. He also said the indoor unit could be installed in the attic, freeing up garage space. He was very knowledgeable and personable too. We have time to consider our options but as fall approaches, we will be calling Total 1 AC for our replacement. read more

Trustworthy at a fair price. Figured out the problem right away and was fixed right away

I was referred to Total 1 on a commercial building. The warehouse AC was not working for a week. I wanted to get a 2nd opinion because the previous company was going to charge me $300 for a short (that he need to replace a part) and told me he will not be able to guarantee his work and that the system might have other issues, as he states the system is old (about 12-13 years old). He will have to fix the short in order to find out if there are other issues. I'm glad I called. Although Dan wasn't able to make it at our appointment time but I understand how it's a peak season. After 10 mins, the AC was up. According to Dan, the thermostat wire was not connected to the system so he only had to reconnect it back. He also resolve the short by moving a wire away by the compressor. The rubber rub the copper line which caused the short. I asked him how can the wire just disconnect by itself. It seems probably the previous company had disconnected and forgot to put it back on??! Dan didn't charge me and he detailed explain what had happened. I have to say they are honest & helpful. This is my first experience with Total 1 AC. I feel like I can trust them. Definitely would recommend this company. Thank you Dan! read more

We called for a quote at our business for an additional vent to be put in. The gentleman that came out and helped us (I can not remember his name), was extremely nice and very helpful. Unfortunately, our AC could not support an additional vent. The technician explained to us why and gave us a few other options to utilize. If you want honest, helpful service, this is the place. Today was my second time using Total 1 AC & Heating services, the first time nothing was done to my AC but instead I was given a great tip on how to get it going and didn't have to pay anything. I had my AC running all 2018, yay for savings! Unfortunately that wasn't the case for 2019 summer, yet I felt completely taken care of. Lynn and the rest of the staff (Alex) where incredibly friendly and their prices to change my capacitor where not horrible. The 100% 5 star rating is no fluke. They're the real-deal! Lyn was great getting info about my system. She recommended some tips to troubleshoot it first. After tinkering around the flame sensor and ignitor of my furnace--confirming they were fine, that's when I realized that it was time to call Total 1 again (time for a professional). Lyn sent Dan over and that's when I was able to get a first hand experience of Total 1's honesty, integrity and pride in what they do. Started off with Lyn helping me out over the phone (troubleshooting tips) and Dan followed up with honest-to-goodness troubleshooting. He didn't just say "I need a new furnace, or I need this expensive part, yada yada" This guy literally got his hands dirty and tried to figure out what was wrong with my system. After much troubleshooting, he was able to pinpoint the problem to a specific component. Instead of just telling me this component is the problem, Dan explained to me how the whole system worked and demonstrated (via digital multi-meter) why all the components were working except for the anomalous piece. Trust was never the issue w/ these guys (especially with an average 5-star yelp rating); but aside from trust, these guys know what they're actually doing--very competent. I came away very impressed. Told Dan that I hope I would never have to call them again for AC/Heating issues (for obvious reasons, lol). But if I ever do need to get my HVAC serviced, I will NOT go anywhere else but Total 1. He was friendly and knowledgeable and he fixed us up fast! Even though he had to leave to buy a part, the total price was more than reasonable! I requested a quote yesterday morning, they got back to me within the hour. My AC unit was having issues and not blowing cold air. I gave them a detailed description on what was going on, they diagnosed the problem and offered me a quote to fix the issue. It was a blown capacitor. In terms of comparing the many quotes yelp sent me regarding this issue, Total 1 AC & Heating blew the other service providers away, not even comparable. The service call was $75 but it was waived if I went ahead with the repair. It took no more than 20mins to fix the issue, the tech even showed me how to do it. Great guy, he is the owner of the company. My AC no longer makes the horrible humming noise and is blowing nice freezing cold air, just how I like it. I can't imagine ever calling anyone but Total 1 AC & Heat should I ever have issues with my AC again. The replacement capacitor and repair job was give. A 2yr Warranty. Five Stars and more! Wow! Where do I begin. Dealing with Dan, Baez, Derrick, and Alex was the best experience this family has had when dealing with a big ticket item an the things we needed for our home. This family has been suffering for years without clean A/C. And finally with the stifling heat of this summer we knew we had to do something. During my wife's morning stroll she saw one of their work vans an decided to call. We where pleasantly greeted by the owner Dan who informed us of everything that needed to done. We had several other companies place a bid on our project and no one could match the price or installation. Everyone else was 10000 - 12000 more than what Total A1 charged and they did not include the whole house or new ducting or vents. This was a definite win for this family.
