Total Comfort has done a fantastic job whenever we've needed service or an upgrade; at the time I write this, it's been about 6 years. An extremely thoughtful senior tech works hard to diagnose issues (for a system a different vendor had installed), and their heat pump team did a terrific and frankly very professional job. Cost $100 just to have them come out, but that's the only negative. They came to repair my AC unit the next day. They gave a 2 hour window for my appointment and the guy came by 20 minutes into that window. The service was prompt and efficient. The problem was easily fixed and thoroughly explained to me. Sucks! Requested a free estimate. Promptly returned call with scheduling. The person could not keep my first appointment. His excuse was that he was still working in Westwood. So we rescheduled for Saturday morning. Saturday, he texted me and said that they do not service our area in Needham, MA, but this completely false because he was doing work in Westwood which only 15 minutes from Needham! I found Total Comfort through Yelp and had a great experience. We had them take out our old oil burning boiler and burner and replace it with a newer, more efficient system. We requested quotes from 3 vendors. 1 of them didn't get back to us with pricing at all and another took 3 weeks and several phone calls. Total Comfort emailed me a quote the day of their first visit and it was cheaper than our other quote. Chris Menard of Total Comfort Heating and Cooling was a pleasure to work with. He quoted the job and worked on site to replace the boiler. When the work was done, I paid my balance with a credit card and he processed it right there on his phone. DO NOT use these guys! Had them install a Bryant oil furnace about one year ago in our Mansfield, MA home. Within a week, oil was leaking from the feed line into the furnace. Forget about getting a "guaranteed" response within 30 minutes. You'll be waiting days. Finally returned to fix leak but "buggered up the connection" to feed line. Will never be able to get the line serviced again without a plumber! Also, within the first week, pieces started falling off the unit and we had to wait for another service call. Thank goodness for the warranty. In September of 2020 I tried to set up an appointment to have an annual servicing done. I called and left a message. NO response! I then sent 2 email messages. NO response! I then sent numerous text messages. Guess what? NO response! The guaranteed answer within 30 minutes took 2 months! They finally contacted me an we set up an appointment for October 29 at 9:00 AM. Well, 9:00 AM came and went. Tried texting, emailing and calling. NO response! When they finally called, they said they would have to reschedule our appointment because one of their vehicles crapped out, leaving us hanging. Why didn't they call me to advise? Just another example of their unprofessional way of doing business. I have since switched to another provider, who came on the same day I called. I would give less than 1 star if allowed. I called Comfort Heating and Cooling because there were so many positive reviews on another website. First, I've learned something very important in this process. NEVER accept a written bid through a verbal description on the phone accompanied by several texted pictures from different angles. I have a two-family house, with wonderful retired tenants on the first floor who don't spend a lot of time outside their home. On Monday morning my tenant came upstairs to tell me their heat wasn't working. I assumed it was a pilot issue, and went down to fire it up. I discovered that the ancient boiler finally said good-bye. Of course this happened the first week of plummeting temperatures. Initially, I contacted four plumbers. Kevin responded immediately. I described what I needed and per his request, sent pictures of the existing boiler. He emailed a bid that wasn't the cheapest, but had the best warranty. I was under pressure from both of the plumbers in the running to make a decision if I wanted to get the boiler in by Friday. Totally understandable. I accepted Kevin's bid and he came over later in the afternoon to take measurements. All good so far. Kevin discovered that he had quoted me a price for the wrong kind of boiler. Without quoting and exact price, he informed me way later in the evening that the price would be at least a thousand dollars more. I couldn't get in touch with the other plumber until the next morning, and he had accepted another job. Therefore, he couldn't get the boiler in by the end of the week. I was very disappointed that Total Comfort Heating and Cooling did not honor their bid. The other plumber did a great job for slightly less money than Kevin's original bid, so it worked out. Unfortunately, my tenants had to go without heat for another four or five days. Thank goodness for space heaters! read more

Left us in the cold: Called Total Comfort because our boiler broke and we had no heat (its December) and they "offer" 24 hour service. They scheduled us a week out, on top of taking 50% or $3,000 up front. A week later, they cancelled the first installation and rescheduled. Cancelled completely a few days later because they didn't have the right license to install an oil burner. WHAT?! Wasted an entire week for us to find someone else (which we finally did, Atlantic Power Services, who did next day installation for less) and after 15 days, still haven't returned our $3,000 after numerous calls and requests. It's December, and Christmas and they still haven't paid us back! Our credit card bill is due and interest is being charged. Terrible communication and quite embarrassing. DO NOT RECOMMEND unless you're rich and can afford fraudulent charges and wasted time. read more

Total Comfort Heating and Cooling is the best! Our 9 yr. old a/c stopped working last Saturday - of course, the muggiest, hottest weather :( I called the company that installed the unit and 3 days later we were still playing telephone tag...enough is enough. I found Total Comfort & Heating online and called on a Wednesday morning at 10:00. Kevin squeezed me in and was out by 2:15 that day - exactly when he said he would be. That in itself was unbelievable. Kevin looked at the unit and it needed a new motor.....ughhhhh. But he was able to get it running temporarily. He said he could order the motor and install it Friday afternoon, at which time he would inspect the upstairs unit to make sure it was running ok (I have been a little lax in the annual tune up department). And yes, it did cost $99 - but I only paid it once and it was sooooo worth it! 20 minutes later Kevin called with the price on the new motor (very reasonable) and I asked if I would have to pay the $99 fee again and he told me no I did not, I also asked how much it would cost to inspect the other unit and Kevin said it was included. Kevin called Friday at 1:30 and said he was on his way. Installed the new motor in a very short time, inspected the other unit, which was fine. It cost exactly what he quoted me on the phone. He even replaced a part that was rusty and did not charge me for it. Kevin was very professional, very respectful and did a super job. It is hard to find a dependable, honest and efficient company these days so I had to write this review to get the word out - these guys are awesome!!!! read more

Contacted company using online quote request. Received prompt response from Kevin Andrade by email. An appointment was scheduled for one week later, to go over the project. Kevin arrived acted highly disinterested in the job. Zero personality, little conversation or questions. Okay, fine..maybe he's low key. He left the house in less than 10 minutes. As of right now (10 days later) I have still not received the estimate for the work. The other 2 contractors I had come in that same day to look at the job, both got me their estimates within 48 hours. Job scheduled with someone else. read more

We had Chris from Total Comfort & Heating install 3 mini ductless splits. He helped us to decide on the mini ductless splits rather than having to add ducts for central AC. He answered so many of our questions promptly. He was very knowledgable, you can tell he knows his stuff inside and out. We felt like we were in good hands. We are so happy we chose the mini ductless splits. They maintain the perfect temp and are so cost efficient compared to previous houses I have had with central AC. read more

I had this company install a new heating and air conditioning system for me. They showed up promptly when they said they would. They finished the job in one day. They cleaned up after themselves and were polite. The system was installed 2 years ago. My utility bills are now considerably lower. I have not had any service problems since then. I called Total Comfort and cooling on the recommendation of a co-worker. My A/C unit stopped working. They told the condenser was gone, and needed a new one. I asked what the price would be and I was quoted $2000.00. I asked if that included labor and the response was yes. I asked if he could have it in A.S.A.P. and was told they would need to locate the part and would call that afternoon. I did receive the call promptly with good news he had located to part and would be able to install it the next day, I was then informed the price would be $2600.00. I reminded him the price I was quoted that morning, the response was no I said it would be around $2000.00. I then called another A/C person to come take a look, and guess what he cleaned the unit and changed a couple of parts and it cost me $150.00. The other company did inform me I would need a new unit within the next year or two, but this gives me a chance to plan better for it. SHAME ON YOU Total Comfort........
