Called Johns Hopkins Hospital today to try to schedule a consult. I started off saying that I had an MRI with certain results noted and wanted to schedule with a certain doctor for consult. I was given a lot of pushback by the scheduling person that I needed a confirmed diagnosis. We went back and forth multiple times and finally she was like oh your MRI note qualifies as a confirmed diagnosis. Wild considering I said it a couple of times already though I don't know what exactly a confirmed diagnosis is as a patient! Then she proceeds to ask for all this information on DOB, address, demographics, and other info. Creates an account. She only asked if I allow texts from the clinic for notifications but not if she can create an account. Then says you still need to gather your medical notes and imaging then upload in one spot and fax in another. Then subjected to a review before knowing if I can see this one doctor. Or I can go on their website and pick another doctor to request a consult and that doctor will confirm if it's a fit. Either way it feels like it was an invasion of privacy without consent or desired outcome...I only want to provide all this info if we're actually scheduling something and I thought that was where we were headed. It was not. I feel like this process has major data privacy issues - creating an account without asking me, collecting personal data without need, and just wasting my time in not even being able to set an appointment. I provided all of this only to find out that no we can't schedule an appointment yet and I never gave consent to creating an account like this (got a text message saying an account was created) and would not have if I knew I was not being scheduled at the end of all this back and forth. It should be upfront that this is the process then asked if I want to proceed. Instead, all the data was collected then I was told. The initial pushback suggested that I had to undergo a review by a group of folks to approve for Dr. He to see me because I didn't have a confirmed diagnosis. Then it turned into this is just the process in general to see him. Overall, process was incredibly frustrating and I would not wish it on anyone who is going through a trying medical time. 1. Pushback based on saying I didn't have a diagnosis when I already shared what she was looking for even if I didn't know what she was looking for 2. Pushback trying to redirect me back to my PCP for a diagnosis when I shared the MRI finding and that my PCP said it is best for a specialist to handle next step as we were not clear what to do 3. Pushback saying I need a group of people to review my case to see if the medical circumstances qualify for Dr. He to consult on because I supposedly didn't have a confirmed diagnosis - fine but then we confirmed the diagnosis and then it shifted to this is the general process 4. Pushback that I misunderstood her pushback that I either do all this legwork of collecting paperwork and uploading and faxing in two different spots to hopefully pass this mysterious group review to schedule an appointment or find another doctor and request a consult and hope they believe it's also a fit While I don't doubt the doctor is great, the front door to clinics is incredibly important - not only to help ensure the providers can focus as much as possible on what they do best but also being responsible in how they interact with patients and their data.

My wife had a spacious private room and I was able to sleep there on a super uncomfortable sofa for the duration. I appreciated this as my wife had never spent a day in the hospital and was very anxious. The building is dated and nowhere as nice as Sibley where we would normally go, but the attention and service was great.

We consulted them for advice re helping our son with ADHD stay focused in school. We worked with Dr.Chengappa. She was not clear that they can't really help with that (only with at home tasks which we explained were not an issue) and also was not knowledgeable about self-monitoring techniques in school. I got better info re that with a basic google search. It was only after the initial consult and two follow ups that it became very clear to us that they would not be helpful for our needs. Now we owe them $2185 for a waste of time. I spoke with the director there, Dr.Susan Perkins-Parks, and she was unsympathetic and only willing to give us a 10-15% discount.

Filled out an online appointment request form and had someone call me the very next day to route me to the correct office for scheduling. I thought the next opening would be months later - given that many offices are reducing #s of patients seen daily to space appointments out better - but they had one the following Monday. You mean, I don't have to wait six months to see a specialist for my dire healthcare needs? How rare is that?! I immediately got the patient portal sign-up and paperwork emailed to me. The portal is much more intuitive than the one at Hopkins, with the ability to message doctors you're seeing across the LifeBridge system. Two thumbs up experience for me.

Thanks and compliments to the outpatient staff of UMMC Midtown Hospital…read more With a relative who needed a common low-risk but major procedure, we experienced good communication, good treatment, and a good outcome here at UMMC Midtown Hospital. Parking was half-a-block south, with a covered walkway to the reception desk. Reception here was prompt, with an escort to the admitting room. Admission was friendly and efficient. We had an assigned time, and preop started about 30min later than we expected. This was communicated to us in advance, and the waiting room was comfortable enough. During prep, we met the team members who would do the procedure, including the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, a doctor and a nurse, and an intern . All communicated well and gave us both information and confidence. The procedure went as-expected, and the surgeon spoke to us directly afterwards, again communicating well and in detail. Now, ten days later, we can say that the of the procedure, the outcome, and the aftermath were all exactly as-described to us. These are great, caring staff. All of the staff whom we encountered were efficient, communicative, and friendly. In addition to giving us confidence, we got the sense that they liked working together, which gave us an extra feeling of comfort in a somewhat stressful situation. We couldnt have asked for a better experience.

If you expect even the most basic level of care, communication, or respect, look elsewhere. update: 10/27/2025 Again in the midst of a dire situation our appointment was cancelled Thursday and moved to Monday and then this morning changed again to Wednesday this week. The explanation: We need an ultrasound, the staffer who was meant to meet with us cannot do an ultrasound. The staffer who they assigned last week from the facility that knows what staffers are capable of didn't figure out what procedures they could do until the day of the appointment. Just let that sink in and ask yourself, "Do you want these people organizing medical practices for you? Would you want a facility that can't organize staff performing medical procedures on someone you love? or yourself? Let me broaden this: Medical outcomes are judged by averages. I'm not saying Hoffman gets everything wrong, or constantly hurts people but I am saying on average you will have a higher chance of having something go wrong based on the demonstrable expertise and skillset of this facility. Sure go ahead and risk it. Play Russian roulette with your body, your baby, you life while the people in charge of providing you care will gladly go home at 5PM without a care toward you. Medical facilities play a crucial role in patient care, and by not answering phone in prompt and timely manner can delay a patient from receiving the care that is needed. On Monday April 14th, 2025 I called the office at 8am to set-up an urgent appointment. Per the automatic system the office was closed, but that the office was open. I called again at 8:05am, 8:10am, 8:15am, and 8:20am, to set-up the appointment. At 8:25am went onto the website to send an email to set-up the appointment. At 8:30am I called to set-up the urgent visit, and to my surprise was able to speak to someone. Tuesday April 15th, 2025 at 12:24pm I received a call from Hoffman and Associated to set-up the appoint. I advised the representative that the appointment has already been made but would like to file a complaint. I explained to representative that my complaint was due to the lack of promptness when answering phones. The representative transferred me over to the manager on duty. I informed the manager on duty that I called multiple times to set-up an urgent appointment but that I kept getting the automatic system stating that the office was closed, but that they opened at 8am. Per the manager they do not answer phones until 8:15am. I again explained that I even called after 8:15am, but was still receiving the voicemail stating that they were closed. I advised the manager that this is unacceptable for any medical facility to not answer phones in a prompt and timely manner as this can hinder care for patients for various reasons. The manager kept over talking me, and was not willing to listen. I advised her that I would be emailing the BBB, and that I would not be back as a patient.
