I am incredibly thankful to have found Dr. Stephenson at Total Health Chiropractic! One year ago I was having back pain and problems functioning normally, which I had never experienced before. In our initial visit she spent a lot of time listening closely to my story and putting me at ease. She then seemed to ask all the right questions and do all of the right tests, to quickly diagnose scoliosis. I was shocked, and she was so caring and understanding. Since then, she has been keeping me adjusted and helping me to learn about how I can best live a full and active life with this condition. She is a wealth of knowledge, takes the time to answers all of my questions thoroughly, and has the ability to to explain things in a way that make total sense. And on top of all that, she's personable and funny. Both Dr. Stephenson and Tiffany, her front desk staff, have always made me feel comfortable and well taken care of during my appointments. And while I am in the office, I can see them treat other patients with the same care and respect. Dr. Stephenson has taken the time to come up with an individualized treatment plan for me, including the exercises and stretches that I need to do in order to keep moving forward. I do travel quite a bit, and Dr. Stephenson has also come up with alternative exercises that are travel friendly. At the beginning of my treatments, she used some alternative modalities that were quite helpful, such as cupping for the pain. She also is quite skilled at acupuncture, which helped quite a bit when I was having neck issues. Now my dog, who has been having acupuncture treatments for a few years due to a spinal issue, also sees Dr. Stephenson. I can't recommend Dr. Stephenson and her staff enough. They have been fantastic. I was referred to her when I had severe pain in my lower back a few weeks ago, and could barely move. Dr. S is amazing. She takes the time to get to know her patients and what they need. From being over weight for several years (we're talking 300+ lbs) my back was pretty messed up. After I lost the weight my back still had problems. It got so bad one day I gave up and said "i'm calling a chiro". I am very glad I did. Dr. S fixed me right up. I get a few tweaks every other month or so but I have been doing great after our initial set of treatments. I have recommended this place to two other people, my fiancée and my best friend. When we moved to Central Austin, I decided that I wanted to find a new chiropractor who was closer to our new house and to my office. I found Dr. Stephenson on Yelp and really liked what other reviewers had to say about her, so I booked an initial consultation. Her office is located in a strip mall, across the way from a kolache shop. That in itself was a good sign. During the consultation, Dr. Stephenson asked me a lot of questions about my history, and we spent a lot of time talking about my concerns. She was really thoughtful and listened to what I had to say. She was patient and kind. She had a good laugh. And she loved Snoopy and dogs. I liked her a lot. So, after our initial meeting, I decided that I would continue going to Dr. Stephenson for my chiropractic needs. I've been going to her for about two years now, and my only concern is that I love getting adjustments way too much. It's really easy to get same day appointments, which is really useful for days when I wake up feeling all wonky and out of alignment. They also have an IFC machine, which is by far my favorite part of the appointment. I seriously could sit there for hours. The two women who work with Dr. Stephenson, Rachel and Maudie, are so friendly and nice. I think I've spent more time talking to Rachel than I do most people in my life. I found Dr. Stephenson through cross referencing my BCBS list of approved chiros with Yelp and decided to give her a try. I am so glad I did! I have had chronic and severe migraines since I was a small child and have seen chiropracters before, with no luck. However, my experience with Dr. Stephenson was different. Although she didn't cure me, she never said she would. She stated that she thought my migraines come from a combination of things, and that she would only be a part of that. On my first appt, before she would adjust me, she took x-rays of my head and neck, which I had never had. She was also interested in all the info from my other doctors and how my other body systems were working (like my GI track). I feel like she looked at me as a whole person and looked at my whole life. She also did her best to make her appts affordable and convenient, and her receptionist/assistant was equally accomodating and friendly. Best of all, after a few weeks, she told me her part was done and not to come back for several months! That reaffirmed my trust in her, as the chiro that I saw before saw me continuously for months and there was no improvement. I appreciate that Dr. Stephenson was honest and realistic. And, you know what? Since my treatment was completed, I have had a 50% reduction in my migraines. Yippee! Dr. Stephenson has helped me a lot over the last several months with neck pain and daily headaches/migraines. I had never seen a chiropractor before and had my reservations but my neck mobility was dwindling so I was desperate for any relief! The first appointment was a talk and x-rays. I followed up the next day and she wrote out a plan for me. I saw her for 3 times a week for a couple months for adjustments. We cut that down to twice a week. Unfortunately, my case was pretty bad and neglected on my part (I had waited until I was desperate) so my insurance didn't allot enough appointments to get me completely out of pain. Dr. Stephenson and her entire office took care of all the insurance paperwork and fought to get all the appointments I could have and I really appreciate that. Her staff is just wonderful! It was always nice to be greeted by them in the early mornings! After several months, I'm not having constant pain in my neck and my headaches aren't daily, anymore. She is a very careful chiropractor and every appointment was so cheerful and optimistic! She recommended adding in some massages and that has helped a bunch. I just had my first visit with Dr. Stephenson, and I have to say I am beyond impressed. She threw my expectations all out of the window. I came in to see if she could help me get back on a regimen after going to another chiropractor. When you walk in to Total Health Chiropractic you'll see it's not a fancy place, but you can tell a lot of people have been in and out for visits throughout it's time there. You'll also be welcomed by Ashley, who's very friendly, helpful, and is the front-desk receptionist. She was the one who told me about the $30 promotion they have right now on Yelp for "First-Visits!", including: Evaluation, Adjustment, and X-rays (if she finds it absolutely necessary)! Can it get any better than that!?!?! My walk-in visits at my old chiropractors was $50 just for a quick walk-in and pop, and then out I was. But anyways, my impression is that they don't work for the money, but to help people. Dr. Stephenson was so thorough with her evaluation, I can't even put it into words. With every movement I did in her evaluation she was able to pick up immediately if something was off. After the evaluation, she determined I didn't need X-rays since I responded well too the stretches and movements she had me doing. She told me exactly what was going on and what she suggested. I couldn't agree more with her feedback from the evaluation, because no one else knows your body more than yourself. After that she took me to another room, adjusted all the misaligned segments in my body and even used this cool vibration machine on a sprained muscle on my glute. She gave me a crash course on how to sit correctly in a chair from a professional and knowledgeable point of view, and even gave me suggestions that would cost me $0, however, I decided to buy a product from her that was completely affordable to avoid the trouble. Dr. Stephenson is very, very, knowledgeable in her practice and in other areas too such as acupuncture, nutrition, natural supplements. After years of on-again/off-again back pain, I took a recommendation to try Dr. Stephenson and I can't tell you how glad I am. She has adjusted me and now, my wife as well, gently and effectively for years. It's hard to quantify the pain she has relieved us both of. I had resisted chiropractors for a long time b/c I'd always feared one would crack my neck and accidentally do serious damage. What can I say about Dr. Stephenson and her staff? Wonderful people, adjustments are smooth and lasting, and Dr. Stephenson is very helpful when it comes to dealing with auto insurance companies! They will work with you if you have no health insurance (discounts, etc.) and are very understanding people, in general. I have some pretty severe stuff going on, but Dr. Stephenson continues to work with me to help me get healthier. Very honest about what she can and cannot do, which I appreciate.
